Is it worth calling if I have t heard anything and been complete since mid to late August? I am IS and LizzyM 68-70 FWIW

Anyone else haven't heard back that has been complete since August?

My heart was beating so fast while signing into that portal hahaha. Didn't see any changes on my home page other than a statement that my interview was complete and ready for review.

To echo a previous response, I also remember hearing that my cohort may not fit into the 10/17 decision date since we were so close to the date. Still, figured it wouldn't hurt to check! So I called the admission office and she was very understanding and quickly looked into my status report from her end. My interview was marked complete by the 15th but has yet to go into review.

So looks like I'll be in for the long wait until December decisions.

Lol same...jumped out of my bed with my heart pounding when I saw a status change email, and went on my computer to check to find this message.

+1 IS and complete early August and haven't heard back since. I've been debating calling to ask for a timeline of when I can expect to hear back but haven't done so due to wishful thinking that my status will be updated soon :/

I was also complete mid-August and no change on the portal yet. I'm not IS but I have ties to the school so I'm getting a bit antsy.
 
On the website, it says that those who submit at the beginning of the cycle should know within a month and "later in the cycle it can take up to 2 or 3 months"...idk if we are considered "later in the cycle"
 
For anyone who's interested, attached is the SOM Dean's executive summary and on the first page, you can clearly see that for the 2015-16 cycle, VCU accepted a total of 391 for 216 seats. If you don't hear anything today, it's not guaranteed that you will hear from them the next admission date (I interviewed in October and got in early May last cycle). Just be patient and the good news will come eventually 🙂

And congrats to those who have been accepted! Feel free to reach out to me for any questions you guys might have.

Mine disappeared as well, but has not reappeared. I wonder what this means.
 
Any idea what it means if we interviewed early october (and were told we would hear back by 10/17) and don't have any of the "new tabs", no new email, and still have the same

Your interview is now complete! The Committee will now do a review of your application. Once this review is complete, you will receive a status update regarding your profile.

status??

It seems people either got the new tabs / acceptance status, or they were placed on hold and have the status update saying as such....but I seem to have had neither of those two things happen.

Lol don't worry, I wondered the same thing! I got the interview tab and scheduled it last Thursday (10/13) and finally got an email that my status has changed on the portal today (10/18). They added all the information about the interview and give a PDF with a bunch of hotels offering discounts for us. 😛

I had this status at one point. It will change after they review your file/give your app a score to the "hold for possible later acceptance" status.

Hey man thanks for the response. I understand what you mean and think that will happen eventually too- it just makes no sense because I interviewed the first week of october, and there are people that stated they had interview dates after mine and got updates. Don't get why people that interviewed after me are getting their status updates before me....

This is where my confusion stems from.

Anyways! I would be confused too! You could call to verify your application status - They're really nice about checking that for you!

Got the II this morning, scheduled my interview for December 6th. Anyone else scheduled for the same day? If so , PM! Maybe we can share an Uber from the airport/hotel room or at meal & drink the night before the interview.

So you did not hear from VCU from Oct until May? Your Portal has the same status the entire time? When did you find out that you were placed on wait list?

My portal had the same status post-interview until the last admission round in March and I was put on the wait-list. I got off the waitlist early May.

They DO reject people post-interview... So in essence, no news is good news!
 
looks like I'm on hold, they got to my application pretty quickly considering I interviewed just last week! joining the wait train for December now, congrats to everyone who was accepted!
 
Thanks! Umm I submitted my secondary late July or early august and about a month later (early September) I had the 'very interested' update. I am not really keeping track of exact dates

Okay... does anyone know if this 'review by sub-committee' is their hold status for a designated time period or can this be changed at any time? I believe that this has been my status since I was marked complete... Has anyone received an II from this status thus far or in past years have these people heard in the spring?

I doubt they've lost it. Seems many of us were complete the same time and have had the same status with or without the grades/MCAT hold part… But if you do call, please let us know!

Well that was an odd glitch! I replied to a different quote than what showed up lol

You can send updates about publications...and one other thing I can't remember (I think grades). I sent in a publication update and included another update about a new job on the same page, too. I found the information about what you could send in on their website.

I called them twice. I have been complete since before 7/16. The first time I called them was at the end of August. The admissions person told me that the reviewer had questions about my app and someone will contact me in the near future. Called the second time in the beginning of October, I was told the questions have been resolved (no one has contacted me) and that my app is being reviewed by the committee and it could take anywhere from 4-12 weeks before a decision is made.

I would like to believe that, but last year, I survived all of the rejections until the end of the cycle. Granted, I've never applied to VCU before. We shall see what happens.

Yup, I got an II from the "review by sub-committee" status, never had the "very interested" status)!
 
I was complete 7/25 and just got this status:
Your File Review is now complete. If you are granted an interview, you will receive a status update on your applicant portal. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates.

Kinda bummed about this status, but I was just wondering if a lot of people have gotten this status? my friend got this status last year and then got an interview later, but I was just wondering if it's different this cycle.

I had this status for several weeks before recently getting an interview, so don't lose hope 🙂

Is anyone able to call the admissions office? Been trying to call for about half an hour but keep getting directed to an automated message and voicemail.
 
Those of you with interviews/acceptances already, when were you complete? I was complete 7/18 and I haven't even been REVIEWED yet. I know a bunch of people seem to be in this boat, and that VCU gets a ton of applications, but other schools that get the same or more have already reviewed everyone. Super confused as to what order they seem to be reviewing applications in.

My interview cohort was told by the dean we would be informed of decisions in time for the Oct 17 date, but I have yet to hear anything (no email or status update; last status update was post-interview one thanking us for interviewing and that the committee would be reviewing the application). Status in question is:

I don't think it is a matter of not having gotten to review my interview group in time, because here's the thing: There have been multiple people in this thread that have stated they interviewed after me and still got the oct.17 update regarding acceptance/hold. I called VCU and this nice lady checked my file and said basically the same thing: no update/change yet, committee still reviewing, etc....

If they review applicants post-interview in order, shouldn't I have been either accepted, put on hold, or rejected by now? (since people that interviewed after me have already heard back). The lady on the phone was very nice and helpful, and even she had no answers either. She just kept telling me to keep an eye on the portal/email for updates. Anyone out there in the same boat as me? Would help to know that I at least am not alone in this dilemma. This is driving me crazy as VCU is my top choice 🙁

I interviewed early last week so I'm still at that post-interview status but will update if I hear any update after next Monday. I remember them saying at my interview day that they have been able to get through most of their file reviews within 2 Mondays of the interview day but maybe they've fallen a bit behind??
