Has anyone who applied in early September heard back yet about interviews or rejections? Past that 6 week mark but I am hesitant to follow up because I've seen here that they have been running longer.

I'm wondering this, too. I'm IS and was complete 8/18.

Nothing. I am constantly wondering about this too. I read on past threads that decisions were made as late as the end of November... so we might have a wait ahead of us.

OHSU is notorious for taking an extremely long time. (If it makes you feel any better my class is amazing so this might be a good thing!) You could wait that long and then also get put on hold as well. It's generally more, but they give a stat during interview which is about 10% accepted, 10% rejected, 80% on hold. (In my experience the accepted and rejected are generally a bit high at about 20% and 20%). If you are put on hold, you may have to wait until April 30, when nearly all their decisions of acceptance and rejected go out. You could be like me and not know on April 30 - because you get moved to the waitlist. Last year I think 44 were accepted off waitlist.

Hey does anyone know from past application cycles if there have been II for people put on pre-interview holds? Complete 8/23, IS.
I got this message on my portal, no email sent.

"Your file has been screened and is currently on hold for an interview, pending further review. Due to the competitiveness and size of the applicant pool, some applicants are placed on hold until the entire pool has been assessed. As soon as a final decision has been made we will notify you immediately. This decision may not be rendered until mid-March."

Just checked the portal, got my decision. Hold pool for now it seems.

Y'all are good. The majority of people get placed on hold and decisions are made later.
That makes me feel better. I felt excellent about my interview, however I know I am not the strongest candidate, so I have no reason to be surprised.

I have been glancing through some previous threads regarding the hold status, but would anyone mind providing more insight as to what that means? Does it basically mean I am on the waitlist for a waitlist spot?

No you are on hold until they get more applicants that have your similar background (MCAT +GPA) and MMI scores. For many people this is until April 30. This is not a waitlist spot. You could be accepted, rejected, or waitlisted off hold. Waitlist goes into the 150s, last year about 50 people got accepted off of it. Hope that helps!

So they don't consider anything besides your MCAT, GPA, and MMI scores?

That for sure helps!

If you happen to know, do many people actually get accepted off of hold pool on the 30th or are most people put on the waitlist or rejected? I feel like what they told me in my interview doesn't match with what I have read in previous years threads, and I want to know to what extent I need to give up the dream. This is my top choice school, but I live across the country, so I would like to know how prepared I have to be to pick up my life and move (and take genetics, ugh) last minute.

Sure they do, it also includes how likely they think you are to accept them. Are you in state? Near in state? Among other things, but at this point everything you have done gives you a score they create. That score rates you against all other applicants. You just have to hope that score is high enough to get you accepted or high enough on the waitlist. I have no idea how the score is created, they call it their "personal algorithm" and do not share it with students. Sorry if that is a downer but if you have already interviewed you are a number, and that number translates to your placement against other applicants. Your placement will change as the cycle moves forward as they will interview people they rate much higher or much lower than you. This is why most people are put on hold until April 30 as they are waiting for final placements.

I don't know. It changes year to year. Sorry 🙁

So my portal status just changed to complete 11/7 and states:

We have received your secondary application, all letters of recommendation and supporting documentation.

To applicants who meet one or more Mission-Based groups: Your file is currently being screened in the interview selection process. Please note that due to the large number of files in our applicant pool, this screening may take up to 12 weeks. As soon as a decision is made on your application, you will be notified. The Admissions Committee interviews prospective candidates from September to March.

To all other applicants (Non Mission-Based): OHSU screens Mission-Based applicants first for interview eligibility. By February, the committee will evaluate Non Mission-Based applicants for interview eligibility.

Anyone know if they inform you if you meet their mission-based groups? The only way I may qualify is for diversity, but that seems a bit up in the air. Wondering if they send follow up as to whether you meet mission-based requirements or if they silently hold onto your application to be evaluated at a later date.

I was wondering this same thing. The only group I would qualify for is superior achievements in academics (gpa and MCAT) but the description kind of makes it sound like you need superior achievement in all the categories it states, not just gpa and MCAT. Not sure how to tell if I’m mission based or not.

You would qualify for Superior achievement if you hit both the GPA and MCAT thresholds. 🙂 Hope you get an interview! Good luck 🙂

If you don't qualify for mission based groups they most likely won't tell you and you will get a rejection sometime in the spring. Here's a post I wrote about diversity group, it's very difficult to qualify for this group:

So for the diversity group what they really mean (just an example): refugee who fled death in Sudan lived on the street with family for several years, grew up in poverty became American citizen.

I am URM, first female in my family to go to College, grew up in poverty, had quite a few adverse life experiences, and supported myself through undergrad. I did not qualify as a diversity applicant mission group.

Is anyone else sitting past the 12 week mark post-complete status? I don't know if they'll welcome a call/email to check in. This is my in-state school and likely my number one pick if I were to get accepted. FWIW, I applied to a dual degree program here so maybe this is why it's taking longer?

I was complete last day of August last year, did not hear anything until receiving an interview invite in early January. It takes time whether you apply to dual degree or not.

That's good to know! I got to admit, hearing back from out of state schools with the possibility of getting a decision this week has made me even more neurotic about my state school. 😳

Yeah I was required to send in a $1000 deposit for a DO school in October, I took the chance and did not send it in. I also heard back from 4 other schools before I even got the interview for OHSU. The good news is for MD schools they really only require a deposit on April 30. Stick to that. With that being said, I did not find out I got off waitlist until May 30 so I lost a deposit at another school. It is a long year, and a long application season - you just gotta have patience 🙂.

I'm very glad you're at OHSU. I met you during my interview and you were really nice to everyone. You're definitely a great embodiment of the OHSU culture.

Does anyone know if I can ask them if I fall into the mission-based category?

II invite today! Application complete 9/8. OOS from MT which is a mission based state. 512 MCAT, 3.96 GPA. They offered me four dates in December and now I need to finish writing my update letter to send along with my date of choice

Congratulations, don't take too long, the dates do fill fast!

I got an email today giving me a student SIS number and asking me to fill out info for their financial aid, but I haven't been accepted or anything. Anyone else receive this?

This doesn't mean anything. They send this to everyone if you have finished your FAFSA and chose OHSU to receive information.

What qualifies as "significant experiences in healthcare" with respect to meeting this part of OHSU's mission? Is that a judgement call that is made during screening as to whether or not your healthcare experience is significant enough for you to fall into this mission group?

Any MSTP applicants there that have not heard from them? It's been silent for me for 3 months. Does OHSU do silent rejections from your past experience? Thanks.

Still haven't heard anything either. I work here and have had conversations with the MSTP director, students and multiple deans (all of whom I interact with most work days) and they just keep telling me that OHSU MSTP runs a little slower than most.

Thanks. Do you know if they still have interview dates available?

Yeah! I'm pretty sure they go until january/february. I don't know how many slots are left but I'm pretty sure there will be at least one or two more II rounds for MSTP.
