2017-2018 Seton Hall - Hackensack Meridian

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Super late to the game, but I was wondering if anyone knows whether MCAT scores need to be received by the deadline to apply? I am a non traditional student and only just found out about the opening of this program. My MCAT score won't be released until June but all other aspects of my application can be submitted by May.

The latest MCAT score they accept for 2018 matriculation is Sept 2017

I saw that on their page, but considering this is the first year that they are accepting students and expedited, I figured that maybe they would make exceptions this year?

I’m going to go ahead and say there is a 0% chance of you being admitted for the class which begins in July. You are in a really good position to apply early in next cycle though.

Does this include financial aid/scholarship info or nah? Highly interested in how much of the sticker price they're actually going to take off for the first class.
Just talks about the 30% off tuition for all four years for the inaugural class with Fafsa submission.

Hi y'all! I'm new to SDN and got offered an interview yesterday! I am OS and my Lizzy M score is 70. I haven't received an acceptance anywhere yet so I'm pretty nervous. I had a lot of serious family stuff going on earlier so my apps were in later

I'm going to assume the average GPA is going to be 3.75 and an MCAT of 512. Which is average around any med school. Didn't understand why people were jumping the gun to get into an MD school when some didn't stand a chance.

Actually the medians might be much higher. I think around a 514.

Good luck!!! I signed up for the 22nd because I have jury duty on the 14th and didn't want to risk not getting excused. I'm sure you will do great, Dr. Hufflepup!

Anyone who got the acceptance call last Friday still not receive the offer letter yet? I’m feeling very left out over here!

Edit: False alarm, forgot to check the spam folder!!

Hi there, a question for everybody. I am accepted at another MD school. I am interviewing 2 weeks from now!!! (!!?!!) I have family ties to NJ, but I live in Missouri, this was the soonest I could interview. With the deadline approaching soon May 1, what can I do?

Hold only one 1 MD acceptance as of 4/30. Then, if you're accepted to another MD school after 4/30 (including hackensack meridian) I believe you have 2-5 business days to withdrawal from one program.

Got an II from them on 4/25, LM 71, OOS, out of region as well.

They left a voicemail, and I left a voicemail and sent an email, but no response yet :/ Haven't been able to talk to anyone there, goes straight to the machine. Do people have an idea of how quickly they turnaround on their messages? It said 24 hours, but that's long passed haha...

They were probably crazy busy with the interview group yesterday, so hopefully they will get back to you today! Keep your phone on you! After I missed the call, I both called back and emailed. They called me back to lock in the interview date.

Sorry I meant more so average MD schools. Not including schools that are ranked above say 55th in research.
He's saying that the average here is going to be in the 514-515 range. Nationally all MD schools average only like 509 or so.

Pretty reasonable expectation, considering the most directly comparable school in recent memory is Hofstra (similar undergrad quality, new private med school in the tri-state area) pulled off 514 in their first year quite easily and are now in the 516-517 range. Most newer schools will focus more on numbers more to ensure their opening classes are attractive on paper for future applicants.

Also, n<10 but myself and several people IRL that I know interviewing here are all in the 515+ range. Non-URM though fwiw.

What does URM mean? Sorry, I'm new here

Last Thursday the 19th!

Ok thanks. I interviewed a bit later than that, really love the school. The facilities were honestly the best of any of the schools I interviewed at this cycle.

Would be really excited to attend here

I know he's saying the average here. I'm stating that this schools will have an average around 512. Don't know but that's what I'm assuming from people giving their LM.

Somewhat new here looked into that LM thing and I'm assuming it's around that.

I know some ppl irl as well with 515< that applied here that still have suspicions against this school even as SHU students because the premed committee stated that this school is rushing and isn't prepared.

Don't know if I think this school will be better than NJMS or Robert wood in a few years though.

Having been to the school they look pretty in place. But we will see.

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting here. I just recieved my acceptance letter for Seton Hall and I'm wondering if anyone else has started to think about housing? I'm not even sure where to start since this will be the first class.

There is a Facebook group “Hackensack SoM at Seton hall housing”. I sent a request but it is a closed group.

Thanks for the info! I searched but I can't seem to find the group you're talking about :/

For those who were accepted. Was there a deposit to confirm your seat listed in the email? I know how you felt, it was a phone call but little uneasy without the email confirmation. 🙂

I still haven't heard back from the school after missing the phone call a week ago. I sent them an email, but they never replied back to me. What do you guys recommend that I do?

It seems to take quite a while for email responses and phone responses. Not sure what else you can do except keep trying to contact. And there was information about where to send the deposit in the e-mail so I'll be mailing mine out this week. Also, for anyone who is curious, I calculated my "lizzy m" score and it's a 71. 514 mcat and 3.8 GPA. Experience as a research assistant and medical assistant, but a bit light on volunteering compared to others!

idk, i have a 511 as ORM and pretty average ecs

Yea idk either what they're looking for, i applied a month ago with a 515 decent ECs, a ton of research etc and haven't heard a thing and I had 3 other II and live close too!

Obviously not expecting one or anything but I thought maybe I had a shot since it's so new and just opened

It was pretty conversational! they ask a lot of questions like, "What you do in this situation..." or "Tell me about a time when...", so pretty standard.

That's like the opposite of conversational. Unless I am misunderstanding.

I personally had one interview that basically went through a list of interview questions. The other was a conversation about various topics .

Did anyone receive their financial aid package yet? i.e. are they giving out any scholarships other than the inaugural 30% one?

hypothetically, if I scheduled an interview over the phone but forgot to reply to the email to confirm, does that mean I gave up my spot? I can't believe I forgot to email them back.
I did the same thing and realized it the morning of my interview. Didn’t have any issues

Today is traffic day - the final day that you can hold more than 1 MD acceptance! So by April 30th, you have to withdraw from all your acceptances except the one school you want to attend. This causes a lot of schools opening up seats so people can come off the waitlist or get acceptances. Let us know which school(s) you decided to withdraw from!
