2017-2018 Texas Tech University - Lubbock

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was accepted but without the Dean's scholarship. For those who got it how much is it worth? Does it cover all 4 years or just the first (with the remaning three based on how well you are doing)? Thank you in advance!

Seems like it's a $5000 lump sum spread out over the first two years.

when were you accepted?

No prematch for me 🙁 I interviewed on 10/10. Thought it went really well, but now I’m doubting. How prematch heavy is tech? When should I loose hope?

Mine was also spread over the first two years but with a smaller scholarship amount. There's additional scholarships you can apply to once you get your eRaider account info.

Did they already reviewed your file? You should give them a call.

So does that mean my application won't be reviewed until then?

Congrats to all of those already accepted!!!

For those still waiting to hear back for an II ... DON'T LOSE HOPE!!!

Received my II last week on 11/14... I was already losing hope of hearing back given the "thanksgiving rule", so I am SO EXCITED. I logged into the portal, the available dates were 11/15 and 11/17. I called and they offered the 12/01 date for interview to allow me some time to arrange travel plans.

Any recommendations regarding the interview or tips/advice???

How many people were interviewed on Interview Day?

Are they blind or open file interviews?

congrats! There were about 20 or so of us for mine in total. Blind interviews with a little sheet that gives them experiences.

Do you have to pay the $100 deposit before the 29th or else your acceptance is rescinded? What if lowkey I hear from my top choice and want to leverage the scholarship there at a later date?

Deposit is refundable before May

If we've already completed undergrad before applying, do we need to resubmit all of our transcripts to TTUHSC specifically, or will they already have it on file? It says I have until the 29th to be done with everything on the offer page and I can't understand whether or not that's part of it.

This has we worried as well. Probably need to call admissions tomorrow. I hope someone else knows. I wonder if they have access to them through TMDSAS.

I’ve graduated. I went ahead and sent my transcripts. It said we needed to complete the requirements on the tabs on the left of the page and a transcripts tab wasn’t there. Plus some people haven’t finished undergrad yet so transcripts are probably required before matriculation, not by 11/29.

Transcripts Following Acceptance
TMDSAS maintains the records of accepted applicants. Therefore, official transcripts for course work taken subsequent to acceptance up to matriculation must be sent to TMDSAS at the end of each semester that course work is taken. Applicants who are accepted and plan to enroll in medical school will also be required to submit a complete set of transcripts to the school at which they plan to enroll. These transcripts must include all courses taken prior to enrollment. TMDSAS does not reproduce transcripts for the schools.

TMDSAS Medical: Acceptance/Match Information

Good evening, anyone got II here recently for OOS? Still waiting to hear?

Do they accept official transcripts sent electronically as long as it is offered by your uni? I called them last week and asked them if I am all set and all I did was complete the tabs on my portal and send in official transcripts electronically and they said that I'm fine.

Thank you for linking that, I probably should have read that to begin with. I assume this stuff doesn't fall under the 11/29 deadline category, since, like premedtexan said, some folks won't have completed their coursework until May.

edit: I'll call tomorrow to make sure and post here.

Hey, Texas does not want to lose you to AMCAS schools other than Baylor. We want our best to remain here!!! (jking)...

Kill your II at the peninsula state...

I called today and they said as long as they know that the transcripts are on their way you should be fine. You should call and let them know if you are just now sending them in as I did.

Spoke with admissions, sending in final transcripts isn't part of the 11/29 deadline. However, if we're already complete with undergrad, they would prefer to have them sooner rather than later.

What? I just had a convo with them and they said if I don’t have my transcript in by 11/29 my spot would be given up lol

Does anyone know if we will get our financial aid package before match day? I have already submitted my FAFSA but I was wondering if we have to wait until after match day to see it?

Does anyone know if tech sends out more prematch offers past 11/15? my interview was 11/15 and i really want a prematch before match day.

I just spoke with them and they said that they would be "chill" about it if the transcripts came in later. I ordered my transcripts immediately after I got accepted but something happened and they didn't get them. I'm sending them a paper version again today along with retrying eTranscripts. Paid extra for expedited shipping.

If we really do lose our spot if our transcripts aren't in, I will drive 6 hours back and forth to personally deliver it myself.

I AM GOING TO GO IN FULL ON PANIC MODE IF WE ARE GONNA LOSE OUR SPOTS BECAUSE OF THIS TRANSCRIPT ISSUE! OMG

dude chill.

just send it electronically today if you are so worried about it

I did send them electronically the first time but for some reason it didn't work even though I confirmed with my university that it was processed and it went through. I resent them electronically again today. This is now a $50 ordeal when it was supposed to be $10. It's not about the money tho. It's really stressing me out. I may just spend 12 hours in the car and drive them over myself.

What if we are still in undergrad? we won't have our updated transcripts until like may 2018.

They told me that they wouldn't be expecting current undergrads' transcripts until they graduate for obvious reasons. It's just that they would prefer to have completed undergrads' transcripts sooner rather than later to get it processed before the current undergrads' come in.

Edit: for all the tech alumni, you don't need to send in your ttu transcript.

Crying because I just spent $10 on sending an official Tech undergrad transcript. But also, I called this afternoon to see if I needed to do this (bc I'm cheap and don't want to waste $10) and they told me I did... Soooo... Idk.

It probably couldn't hurt. I'll more than likely end up sending it too out of fear.

All of u that II , do u remember when the II ended in afternoon? is it at 3:00 or 4:00? to buy return airline tickets out ? thx in advance

It really just depends when your last interview is. Mine was scheduled from 3:00-3:20, so I would go for 4 or later just in case.
Hope this helps!

Yes, how far is the airport from school? I have to get Uber to get me to airport too, and wonder if 6:00ish flight gives me enough time?

Definently enough time. The airport is 15min from the school and the interviews end around 3. Goodluck!

Everyone is over here fretting about post-acceptance formalities and here I am still clinging on to the hope of getting II lol
Seriously! Don't lose hope yet! I just got my II on 11/14, and at that time they told me there were still spots open for December interviews. Good luck!
