matched here! so excited! I followed the link posted above for the Facebook page, and I guess we have to request to join, as opposed to them adding us?

anyone know anything about the waitlist?

I don't know what is normal but I can share my experience from last year. I got in off the waitlist last year around mid June. As far as I know, I am the only person who got in off the waitlist for my class.

After interviewing, this became my top pick last year and so when I called in May to get some feedback in order to reapply, I was told that they had not accepted anyone off the waitlist and they weren't sure if they were going to last year. I don't know the numbers but like other schools, they extend more offers than they have seats expecting a big chunk of those offers to not be accepted. If I truly was the only person in off the waitlist last year, I don't know if they would see that as a success or if they want a little bit more movement off the waitlist. I'm OOS but I'd imagine being IS would help make it easier to get in if there is movement on the waitlist.

Not related to TTUHSC but I got into another school in the beginning of June off a waitlist as well. I had four interviews so half of my waitlists turned into acceptances. It sucks waiting (I actually had already submitted some secondaries when I got in off the waitlist) so best of luck to you trying to keep your sanity.

When did they let you know that you were on the waitlist? Would you mind telling your stats?

Just fyi, this is my second time applying. I got waitlisted here last time and didnt get called off the waitlist, and I didn't see a ton of movement as far as SDN goes. Best of luck to you!

Anyone apply out of state and get into Texas Tech? People are telling me not to apply because I'm OOS and have very slim change of getting in.

Anyone OOS get into Texas Tech? I'm just curious how you did on MCAT. I can PM you. I'm trying to see what I need to shoot for like a 515-518.

I was notified in the middle of June. I'm OOS, 514, 3.75 GPA, nontraditional with an advanced degree. My greatest weakness when I applied was clinical experience. That said, I worked as a CNA last winter and when I called to get feedback, may have mentioned that I was working full-time as a CNA.

As was mentioned, by Texas law, up to 10% of the school can be OOS. IIRC from the stats when I was applying, most schools actually only have about 5-7% of their students from OOS. I'd imagine they give offers to 10% and then some of those candidates go elsewhere. It'd be easier to make sure you don't go over the cap if you shoot for a slightly lower number so they are probably happy with those numbers. Anyways, with a class size of 180 you are looking at a maximum of 18 but more likely to be 10-15.

I know many of the OOS students but I don't know their stats. The only other person's stats I know was a 518 on the MCAT from a nontraditional but I think he said his GPA wasn't great. I probably applied later to Texas schools than I should have(I was waiting for my MCAT score) but with those stats I got 3 Texas interviews and 2 Texas acceptances. If you want to PM about the school, I'd be happy to be a sounding board but I can't claim to know any better than most of you.

does anyone know if students here are allowed to do away rotations during fourth year?

Has anyone received any communication from tech about submitting where we want to do third and fourth year rotations?

Also just got waitlisted yesterday. Total of 2 waitlists and no acceptances. Hoping for some good news in may-june

OOS. Waitlisted on Friday. Do we know how many are on the waitlist or what the waitlist movement is usually like for TTU?

For the OOS students that were accepted, is tech giving the $1k scholarship to give IS tuition to OOS students?

For those of u that r OOS did u get ur waitlisted via email or mail? Also were u all on hold status ? I am OOS and II end of Oct., too but have not heard anything yet.

Same here, OOS, interviewed in late October, haven’t heard a word yet. I’m a reapplicant, interviewed at Texas Tech last cycle in December and got the waitlist email on 3/20/2017. I don’t know what that means for the timing of all of this this year, but it’s information nonetheless!!

I’m OOS, interviewed Oct 13th. I haven’t heard anything since my interview.

Yup, I wonder if that's how they do their hold?

I interviewed 12/1 (OOS) at TTUHSC in Lubbock, when do they usually send out acceptances/rejections for OOS by?

I got my notification of being added to the alternate pool via email. Good luck! Hope you hear soon. I interviewed at the beginning of Oct and just heard about being waitlisted two weeks ago.

OOS and I haven't heard nothing yet. Just hoping to hear something good at least since I am waiting so long.

Can anyone find the recent match list for 2018? I would really appreciate it! 🙂 excited to see where the class of 2018 matched!

I couldn't find a complete list right now, biochemgirl22! I found 3 articles for you to sift through for some answers though. The most entertaining part of this search was the names of the newspapers: The Daily Dose, The Daily Toreador, and the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal :joyful:

Just got the alternate pool email - anyone know how many people are on it? Is it everyone who interviewed?

Are you IS or OOS? From what I know, the alternate pool is relatively small, unkranked, won’t move until late April or early May. I’m surprised they are still adding people - maybe they are expecting more movement than they predicted.

I am OOS. That was my understanding as well but when I got the email so late I thought maybe it was larger than I understood it to be. MSAR says it's 60-100 people with 20 people getting off each cycle.

Ahhh okay, that makes sense. I would disregard those numbers since you're an OOS candidate (I think every class has 18 OOS spots?). Probably heavily skewed by IS people, which make up 90% of the class.

I’m OOS and I got put in the alternate pool yesterday as well

Was hoping I could get some help from some of you guys.

If things don’t work out for me this cycle, I’ll be moving to Lubbock to do a gap year (will have in state status in TX because parents moved to the area). I wanted to start looking into some clinical/lab/otherwise medically related part time jobs. I was hoping to scribe, but I noticed that scribeamerica and physassist don’t have a site in the area.

So my question is: Do you guys have any experience with jobs like these you’d recomend looking into? Feel free to DM me or otherwise, and I appreciate any help.
