I interviewed 10/26, and heard back 3 weeks after.

That’s why I was hoping to hear back this week....but idk we’ll see I guess

Has anyone who received the call of acceptance without the formal acceptance package, received an actual formal acceptance package yet? or should we expect to get these after Dec 14?

Have you checked your portal? That is where I got the official admissions letter/deposit tab/admissions contract. I assumed this was the acceptance package.

nothing updated on my portal. When I received an "acceptance call" they said on the phone that it wasn't a formal acceptance yet; hoping that will change around Dec 14.

Oh I’m sorry, I totally misread your original post. I forgot there was a group who got calls of “youre accepted, but wait”. Ignore everything I say, readin comp is clearly still an issue.

Week 3: lost all hope that we will hear back this week. Realized that they are probably busy preparing for the 11/30 interview. Looks like 11/9ers have to wait till next week....

So my application was completed on 8/29 and I haven't heard anything back yet. I was assuming it was a silent rejection, but it looks like others have received rejections pre-II. Should I email them? I'm wondering if I should wait until this semester's grades are in before I email them because my sGPA could definitely use the boost.

Don't know if this school accepts updates. If they do, I'd go with an email after the grades are in so you can do a update + letter of interest in one.

How would you go about writing a letter of interest? I was thinking of just updating on what I’ve been involved in since submitting my secondary to show continued interest. Maybe I should try to mention school specific stuff?

Here's a guide that may help, with an example: How to Write a Great Medical School Letter of Intent or Letter of Interest (Example Included)
I haven't used this company's services other than their free guides, and there are many other such guides online re: letter of interest that may help you. tl;dr: not affiliated with this company lol

Really hoping to receive an interview from here. My SO just got accepted into their dental school.

Current students: does SOMA provide iPads or laptops? Or are the students required to buy them??

Based on previous students input, it’s a no. Maybe next year will be different? Most likely not though. They only give the medical goodie bag with all the shiny new doctory instruments.

For any current students does ATSU-SOMA require a drug screening test? I'm getting my immunization titers updated and a blood test for the prematriculation checklist but it doesn't mention one on top of the criminal background check. Thanks!

Hi! I'm a current 4th year and for my class we didn't need a drug screen until we were doing rotations (many hospitals will ask for the results). So it was sometime during 2nd year and then a year later. They were charged to the school's account. I wouldn't get one until thye ask so you don't have to do it out of pocket.

Hi all, have an interview coming up but will no longer be able to make the deans welcome bc of a conflict. Is missing the event a bad idea/will it affect my admissions chances? I'd love to attend as it sounds informative but I highly doubt I'll be able to. Thank you in advance for your time and help - I apologize if this has already been covered.

I highly doubt that it will affect your admissions chances. Worst case, what I would do, is send out a letter and say you were planning on attending but a personal matter came up and you apologize for missing it. That’s just me though!

On my interview date, they offered a tour after the interview for those who couldn't make it to the dean's welcome. Shouldn't be a problem!

Congrats! Where do you want to go? I submitted mine about a week ago and haven't heard back yet.

Email Dolores at: [email protected]

I am hoping to come back to the new center in Alton, Illinois since I’m from Peoria, Illinois. If not there, Seattle (waitlist now) or stay in Arizona!

I submitted my preference but haven’t paid my deposit so technically it doesn’t count. However, Dolores told me she received my preferences and as soon as I pay (I’m paying Monday when I have the money together), I’ll get it confirmed. Where would you like to go/ where are you from?!

That's awesome, hope it goes well for you! That's interesting, I actually paid my deposit already and they received my payment. I'll make sure to email her. I actually live in St. Louis right now. I hope to go to the Hawaii site! My other top choices are SC, AZ, and Chicago.

Looking to venture out, huh? That’s awesome! Best of luck with everything. See ya next year! Dolores is super sweet and she’ll respond ASAP.

interviewing 12/14, my first med school interview yikes super nervous! How many people does ATSU interview a cycle for their class? Is it like 500? Any advice for first med school interview other than being myself, why DO?

Wow congrats!! I interviewed the same day as you but haven’t heard back. I really hope they call tomorrow. But congrats on getting accepted

Last year they interviewed 582. Know what DO is all about, i.e. form/function and how it relates to health, stuff like that. No matter what, you'll be nervous, but use that adrenaline to stay engaged throughout the day. Talk to your friends/family about your application, why you want to be a doctor, the admirable traits you surely possess to make you a great physician, how your experiences have led you here, a plan in case this cycle doesn't go your way. Knowing your application and motivations will help you answer pretty much a majority of interview questions, anywhere really.

Accepted. Got the call yesterday afternoon. I am still processing this. Interviewed 11/9. Re-re-reapplicant. Never give up on your goals.

I’m very proud of you!! Congrats and yes, NEVER give up on something that you’re truly destined to do or be!

Awesome! Interviewed 11/9 and I am also a reapplicant so I know what it feels to finally get accepted. What group were you in?
