2018-2019 Drexel University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone heard anything back about dual degree acceptance? I applied MD/MPH and got in for what I presume is just MD for now.

Was just deferred after interviewing in early December...the eternal wait for a finite decision continues

also just deferred, interviewed end of November, hopeful that they'll have more acceptances next Friday and the following week for deferred people

Lol I interviewed end of Nov and didn’t receive a deferral, guessing that means they have a decision waiting for me

I got deferred today and I was wondering if anyone who was deferred has received a subsequent acceptance this cycle or should I be waiting for movement late April. Does Drexel use deferrals as basically a waitlist? I did look back at the posts but wasn't able to find a clear answer. Thanks in advance!

some people got accepted after being deferred this past Friday

SEPTA Regional rail station is a block away from the school. Plenty of bus routes around and the Drexel shuttle takes you from QL to Hahnemann.

Safety, East Falls isn’t so bad. I didn’t feel unsafe living there, but Germantown is sketchy and not far away. Regardless, the school has an escort service that will drive you home or pick you up if you need it.
Thank you for clarifying.

Also, I know it has been asked somewhere in these 44 pages, but could someone clarify the structure of the closed file interview? Is it one current student with 2-3 interviewees at once?

Yes, basically. The student interview is super informal.

Deferred this morning as well (9:24am)
interviewed 12/12
I'm honestly shocked because my interview went so well and I absolutely loved the school. :/

Honestly, I don't think my interview could have gone any better. It seems like they are deferring anyone under a lm of 70

oh wow, my theory is out the door then! congrats to you though!
Thanks . I am a very non traditional applicant though . So whenever I get an acceptance from a school - you never really know why is it that they accepted me. Like , I have several thousands of direct clinical patient care experience hours (I work in addiction treatment facility as s behavioral health technician , I worked in psychiatric ward in the army ), I am a veteran , I have 500 hours from pathology lab (cancer pathology , NIH, research , autopsies). I was also a learning assistant for 3 semesters . So i have this really weird combination of experiences....

As each decision week passes I feel less secure with my place as deferred post-interview.

Curious if things will work out like last year, where the March and April people don’t find out until after April 30th...

What is the student interview like? Is it more of a conversation/opportunity to ask questions or is it actually an interview?

It's actually more of a tour by the medical student. It's with 2 or 3 other interviewees and you can ask the student questions as you walk around the school. The student may ask you some simple questions too

My student interviewer gave us the tour and also some more formal questions like “tell me why you want to be a physician”, “describe a challenging experience and what you learned from it”.

I think your experience will depend on the interview style and personality of the student.

My student interviewer literally did not ask anyone in my group a single interview question beyond "so where are you guys from" lmao. We were told by the admissions staff beforehand that the student interviewers just rate us from 1-5, likely based on how well we can imitate a normal person.

Yes. When I did interviews, that is basically how I assessed people. How normal are you? Do you let your fellow applicants speak? Were you on your phone during the lunch and whatnot? Did you act INTERESTED? I asked about where they go/went to school and what is something they do outside of school/medicine.

But, it’s chill and conversational.
