Any current students here willing to answer some questions about the school/ curriculum? I'm interviewing here next week and am really excited but would love to learn a bit more. Please feel free to message me. Thank you!

Still , there should be laws against torturing students ... I’m just saying
Def be sure to mention this in the feedback portion of the interview day 👍

What is the essay pertaining to? Any way to "prepare"/ not write something stupid?
Its a surprise!

Does Drexel accept updates (grades, publications) for people who are on hold?
One of each CV/Resume, Transcripts, and LOR.

Has anyone who interviewed in the first week called Drexel yet to see when they will send out admission decisions?
Probably should because they automatically shred auto-accept the applications of the first 100 applicants to call each day.

Apparently someone called and they said late october/early november but when I emailed them about sending updates and stuff, they said we would hear around the 15th. Y they playin with my heart like dis

So I guess we've got some waiting to do? That's a bummer 🙁
That may be for mid septmber people. IIRC they said they meet every other week and were meeting the week after our interview so would have a decision fairly quickly for us. Dont know about the mid/late sept people

Sitting here waiting while everyone else gets their acceptances. Damnit Drexel with your late interviews

I had all 3 of my interviews in September that I'm waiting on. The other two are getting back to me in mid November and December. Definitely feel lucky to have had those IIs but I'm cursing out the fact that I ended up with schools that are making me wait so long :boom:

I got stuck on 2 WL and the one school said they wont rank us until mid may. Its a loooong cycle.

Yeah born and raised! Drove down 8 hours from school just to watch the super bowl back at home and celebrate on Broad. Cried my eyes out and was one of the best nights of my life.

I did get one II from another Philly school! Of course the one philly school that hasn't gotten back to me at all is the one that I currently work at lol (also volunteered at for a couple summers).

They told my interview group they only meet once a month for post- II admissions decisions

hoping they will review all of sept and that the late sept interviews dont get pushed back farther

Just placed on Pre-II hold. What does this mean about my chances? Is this essentially a soft rejection for this school or do I still have a shot?

You still have a shot but a very slim one. When were you complete?

I got a post II R and a waitlist this week. Drexel please start making those calls!

I interviewed mid-October and they told my group decisions would go out in 4-5 weeks and to contact them if we didn’t hear in 5 weeks.

do we get a complete email? I don't have an email but it says on the portal application complete and "Your application is ready"

Interviewed here on 9/12 (first interview day) (complete 7/6)
just called as it has been more than 5 weeks now and was told that the committee has my application on file and to continue waiting

@ciestar

I will be interviewing next week. I was wondering if it is difficult to drive into city center from PHL International airport? Do you reccomend that i park my rental where im staying and just take public transit if i want to visit the Franklin Institute and independence hall?

I always suggest public transit over driving in Philly because it can be an exercise in frustration (very limited/expensive parking and congestion everywhere). Philly is a very walkable city and it's a much more pleasant experience to ditch the car imo. There is a train that goes directly from the airport to center city which I would suggest taking. Where are you staying that you would need a rental?

I need to drive to New Jersey after the interview. Im from a place where everyone drives everywhere so i always think i need a car. If i ditch the rental, can i catch a some kind of train to New Jersey after my interview?

Sorry for the dumb questions. If i can ditch the rental and still make it to Jersey, i will gladly do so.

No dumb questions! Depends on where you are trying to head in Jersey; some places are accessible by transit. But it might still make sense to rent a car if not. Where are you heading in NJ?

Also something to keep in mind is that Drexel's med campus is not in center city. You can take a train from center city out to a station right next to the campus but it seems like others on this thread have stuck to taking uber to the interview just because they don't want to be late if the train is late.

Im going to Newark. I got a pretty good discount on my rental through my institutions alumni office, but if you think having a car will be a crutch, then i might still opt to ditch the rental.

So you can get to Newark via AMTRAK (typically expensive (~$50) but takes one hour) or by taking SEPTA to Trenton and connecting onto the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor line to NY Penn station (around half the price but takes 2 hours at its fastest--sometimes you have to wait in Trenton for the connection). Driving is an hour and a half barring any traffic getting out of the city from the interview.

For pricing in terms of the rental, I paid $30 once to park my car for four hours in center city. Parking at the interview also costs $10. So the costs might add up fast on top of the rental. Just laying all the options on the table, but renting still might make the most sense for you.

Following up on what @phillyapple has said, yes, if you’re going to have a rental car, just park it where you’re staying and take an uber/lyft or SEPTA for any place you might want to see in center city. Parking can get expensive and hard to find sometimes.. it is sometimes easier to even walk depending on where you plan on staying (check out Reading Terminal Market if you can).

If it were me, I’d definitely be driving to Newark. I’ve driven to their aiport from East Falls quite a few times, and I’d much rather do that for sake of convenience.

Any recommendations on cheap hotels near the campus? Flight is so expensive into philly i need to save as much as possible

I know you asked for a hotel, but if you need to save the most money, I'd recommend getting an AirBnb. I got one in West Philly by Penn for $60. The Uber to campus was about $15.

I have never used airbnb but could you DM me the one you used? Tryna be safe. Thanks

Does anyone have any insight on the movement of applications that were placed on hold? I am OOS placed on hold in mid-late July. I'm curious how many people have been offered interviews after having been put on hold.

Thanks for all the advice! I appreciate it!

From what I've read on past threads and this thread, there's not much movement
