Just chiming in here: I have to say that your post (@bigfloss) gave me a bit of comfort (side note: the waiting game is still rough post secondary-- I applied here two years ago, recieved a secondary in early July and was not rejected until May. UC Davis doesn't appear to be predictable regarding who they screen to recieve a secondary, II, or acceptance-- it's mostly about fit as mentioned by others previously). Anyway, I was taken by your post and was curious where else you were applying. I looked at your other 11 messages and noticed that they were all to UC Davis! It made me sad-- you clearly really like this school. I'm really rooting for you. As a reapplicant, I definitely thought I'd be used to the waiting game, but it's rough at any stage. As you said, applying to medical school isn't everything. The unfortunate investment that this process requires makes even the most chill people a bit neurotic... and that's ok! (3x Mcat taker myself-- and yeah sometimes the nerves get to me) lol.
R post-interview. Davis is definitely still my top choice, only applied here this year because of financial reasons, but next year is a new year. Good luck everyone!

Been lurking on here for some time but never posted. I interviewed on 9/21 and still haven’t heard back either.

With that being said, do any of you plan to call them again on Monday?
I called them on Thursday, left a voicemail. They called me back on Friday and told me the whole shebang about the portal and said I should know by the end of next week. I never heard anything again

Got waitlisted as well 🙁
Beside the aspect of waiting 6 months for an official acceptance, it’s great news to be waitlist at Davis because their waitlist has a LOT of movement. One of the M1s at my interview said about half their matriculating class came off the waitlist!

that's good to know! thanks for the encouragement 🙂

Got waitlisted as well. Would a post-interview thank you email be ill-advised at this point?

Just got the waitlist email today too. Thank you for that information! Let's hold out hope everyone!!!

Is their waitlist ranked? what are our chances? 🙁 🙁
I thought I heard them say it was unranked, but I'm sure there is an internal ranking system. I wonder if they're waitlisting more people this year because of the changes to this year's cycle.

Finally received my secondary and filling it out now. They give the conversion for semester to quarter units but never specify which they want? I'm assuming they want semester units like the AMCAS primary application since it says they want "a year" of bio, gen chem, etc. and say that the minimum is 8 units, and if it were quarter units only 2 quarters of bio classes would be 8 units even though that is not a year. Can anyone confirm semester or quarter units?

It’s been a while since I did my secondary but I think I used the converted semester units with amcas. As long as you show that you fulfilled that requirement I think you’re fine.

I actually used quarter units because of the wording of the conversion formula:

"Semester hours to quarter units conversion: semester hours X 1.5"

If they wanted semester units, wouldn't they have said "Quarter hours to semester units conversion: quarter hours/1.5" ? But maybe I just completely messed this section up...

That's what I was thinking, but then I'm not sure it would make sense that "1 year" of bio, gen chem, etc. would only be two quarters (since each quarter is usually 4 units, so you could get the 8 unit minimum for those subjects in just 2 quarters) whereas usually it would be considered 2 semesters or 3 quarters. I'm leaning towards semester units right now. I called them and they didn't pick up, so I'll update when/if they call back.

Have any recent IIs gone out? I’m very local to the area and would love to stay nearby, have some family in poor health I’d like to help take care of. Good mission fit, LizzyM~ 75, been complete for a few months now.

I interviewed on last week and was told we’d be notified of decisions in 2 weeks.

Received my rejection today, OOS but went here for undergrad, stings a little I couldn't even get a secondary due to being out of state

I am sorry to hear that, especially when an Aggie didn't receive a secondary. Just curious, does attending for UG not make your eligible for IS considerations for UC med schools? I am surprised to hear that.

No, I even tried all 4 years of undergrad to try and do something to make myself instate but since I moved back home to try and save money I am still considered OOS
