You fit their mission? Underserved? Low SES?

I think I do? low SES, i don't know about underserved since I am Asian but many of my activities were focused on volunteering in undersreved areas.

Ooooo. That's bad. Normally they like people who serve underserved communities. Looks like I got to polish my secondary more.

other than that it is my 3rd application, not really... my application has been improving over 3 years too
If you haven't received a rejection for the 2018 cycle, you should email them and clarify whether the rejection was for 2018 or 2019.

primary was verified a few days ago, received a rejection pre-secondary just a few minutes ago! im OOS as well haven't heard back from other UCs besides Davis which i surprisingly (to me at least) got a secondary from. super unfamiliar with the UCs (im from FL) but thankfully they saved me that fee $$ oh well

yeah... thanks for the tip!!
Thank you for your email. We received your Secondary Application for the 2018-2019 admission cycle. You may disregard that message as there must have been a glitch in the system. We have no record of sending you a rejection letter. Please allow the admission committee time to review your application before a decision is made.
if anyone gets the early post secondary rejection, make sure you check

Rejected post secondary.... why riverside

Sorry to hear that...but there are lots of other schools out there! Also idk why these UCs are rejecting right after secondary. It's like "thanks for the $100 fee, here's your rejection"

Funny question: Do AdComs meet on weekends? :/

Is there a question for us?

They have pulled all the activities from AMCAS application and below all that they state:
Activities
Extracurricular Interests and Activities
Please provide a list of those activities that were most important to you in terms of developing your academic, social, and overall personal growth. Please list those activities as indicated below. Limit your responses to the space provided, dragging the most important activities to the top.

and give room to add: activity type, description (the box is super small so I am assuming just the name of the activity), start and end dates, hours

Can anyone tell me what we are suppose to do here? Do we just duplicate the AMCAS activities and rank them in the order of "importance"???

Is there a question for us?..........

Any tips or insider wisdom for filling out this secondary, Goro? I am so excited getting a secondary after screening, and really hope to do well!

Really look at the school's mission, I am a UCR alumni applying and just based off my experiences with different programs at the UCRSOM they are very mission-driven so highlight that in your secondary. Feel free to PM and I can give you some ideas about what I am including in my pre-writing as I am waiting to get verified!

Try to expand on experiences you've had and give them examples of the work you've done. They have a lot of questions so you have plenty of places to go into detail. Their focus is the underserved so if you have experiences in this you should highlight what you've learned and how you plan to transfer these skills as a medical student. Looking at their mission is a good place to start!

Congrats! Didn't think they would send them out so early. Were you notified by email? As someone with the same LM score and from the IE hopefully I hear some good news soon.

Yup by email! Good luck to you!

Hi all! I'm pretty new here. I received a secondary from UCR last week and the question I'm struggling most with is the first one asking to describe the single most important event/non-academic activity.

I have other hobbies listed on my primary that I do now and I was going to write about one of those, but I already talked about it in my PS. I then remembered/thought about a hobby I used to do, and drafted an answer to this question, but I never mentioned it in my primary application, mainly because I don't do it as often now as I'd like to.

This activity is still important to me, but would it reflect poorly at all if I talked about it as a "most important non-academic activity" and didn't even list it in my primary?

Nah, go for it. You're overthinking it!

Whats the consensus with the "ranking activities" page. Do we just put the type of activity and then for description the name of the activity?

Anyone know if UCR accepts grade updates for summer courses I took? The courses were on my AMCAs transcript, but with no grade next to them

hey y’all, I’m an MS1 and totally understand the stress of the cycle. trust. Let me know if you have any questions! I’d be happy to help if i am qualified to answer your questions 🙂

Hi! I have an upcoming interview here. What was interview day like? And do you have any tips?

When y'all go into your portal, does it say "interview" in the application status page with a little lock image? In the notes it says "Not scheduled yet" I just saw this today and just about had a heart attack. Haven't gotten any emails about interviews yet so probably fake news.

Same here and i just submitted today so I am assuming everyone has it.

Verified on 8/17. Received secondary today!

Submitted secondary on 7/29. Hopeful for an interview!

Hi! I have an upcoming interview here. What was interview day like? And do you have any tips?
Interview day at UCR is very chilled out compared to some other schools. They make you feel very comfortable! UCR is a very mission driven school and I saw this reflected in my interview day in the way the dean spoke and the energy everyone had. I found it helpful to understand their mission and how it fit into my own personal goals

On my portal, a lock next to Interview with "not schedule yet" shown. Does this mean my app is still under review?

If it means anything at all, it's probably that. I asked the same thing after I submitted my app but apparently everyone gets that message after submitting.

Thanks. Out of all my AMP secondary portals, this is only one with the extra lock and a status for "interview". Got me gasped for a second.
