thought they said at our interviews that it was gonna be March 15th?

FWIW MSTP decisions came out on 3/13 last yr. At my interview Skip Brass was pretty forthcoming on emphasizing the Ides of March. edit: Director e-mailed us today saying it would be before 15th

Did they say “on” or “by”
So the guy presenting said that it would be "by March 15th" but that they would make their best attempt to get decisions out in that first week if possible (so that theoretically would be this upcoming week). Not sure if that was said at all Interviews, but our group was told that it was so they could get financial aid packages out faster

When did you interview?

does anyone know when second look is? obvi I haven’t gotten in yet, but before I book plane tickets to other second looks, it would be good to know if I should wait for this decision to come out!

4/11-13 is what they told us at my MSTP interview

Hard to imagine a more opaque/imprecise statement than "shortly". These admissions folk are really in the wrong business, they are better suited for politics 🤣.

That being said, I will love you unconditionally if you choose to accept me! Help a brother out.

Lol, how are you gonna say that with 11 IIs and 5 As?
Note i said 2019 😛
Just got hit with 2 post-II Rs (which hurt no matter what lol) and 2 post-II WLs this year at schools I really liked. Still amazingly thankful for the options I have

If you got an interview at Perelman, you should feel proud of your accomplishments. I understand that it hurts to get an R or waitlisted, particularly at a dream school. However, I hope that you realize that you are competing at the very pointy end of the spear, and that you will ALL be amazing doctors some day!

Man its been a disappointing/rough 2019 with med school decisions...hopefully Penn has mercy and turns the trend around for me 🙂

Hey man, I remember back last year when you were one of the few who got an II to Michigan in the first round. Can't believe its been so long since then and you've achieved a lot of success! I feel you though, but at the end of the day we're all gonna be great docs

Talked with a student interviewer who confirmed email and said to watch out for admissions decisions to be announced this week.

I know it’s an unreasonable request and these things aren’t on a hard and fast schedule but one day I hope applicants will just receive an “OK, we’re on track to post decisions Wednesday so keep an eye out” email. This is like the fourth time in two weeks I’ve played the jump at my phone notifications game

Just a plea here. (and I do not work for Penn!) Many on this thread have multiple admissions to great places already. If you already know at this point that you would not go to Penn if offered A or WL, consider sending an email to admissions to withdraw your application NOW. I had an advisee do this.

Why would anyone withdraw at this point, some of you are asking? Obviously, you all were interested when you applied back last summer. But things may have changed. Most other medical schools have already released their results, and though there is no way you could know where you were accepted back then, most of you do know now. And you may have very strong ties/attachments to another school that you know you can't pass up. You may have gone to Philly and hated it and are now sitting on some great acceptances in places you overwhelmingly like better. Some people have partners who currently have no viable options for med school/law school/business school/job in Philadelphia this year. Some others have gotten into a school that they know is a better fit for them. Obviously there is always the unknown in fin aid, and you may still have questions about the curriculum which requires a second look before committing, and in those situations, of course you will see what happens this week at Penn.

But my point here is that trophy hunting should be discouraged. (Trophy hunting means keeping live applications at some schools just to see if one gets in and then one can tell everyone lifelong...I got into blah blah, Penn, blah, etc etc. ) You can only go to one school. It does not matter how many other schools you get into. And even though Penn is a tippy top fantastic school, some of you already know that even if accepted, you would not go to Penn. And if you read the WL thread, there are a number of very qualified applicants with no acceptances or no good-fit acceptances. When my advisee (who loved Penn but is deciding to go to a school where he and the partner were both accepted) informed admissions of his withdrawal from consideration early in the week, it seems as if ADCOM office was very thankful and appreciative. So if this sounds like you, consider and maybe "Make someone's day". (I mean another applicant's, not the ADCOM, though no reason to stress them either!)

This is true. It reminds me of when the Dean at NYU said he remembered seeing a kid sit on like ~20 acceptances up until the very last second, which is absurd cause I seriously doubt he/she was considering all ~20 of these school equivalently...

Yes, it is a great service to all of the applicants sitting on only WLs if everyone starts clearing their spread sheets of unwanted acceptances and WL spots now. Just because you have until May 1 does not mean you should wait until April 30th to decide. If you were placing your whole life on hold, not knowing when or if you might get that WL call, can you imagine how difficult that would be? I have one unofficial mentee who is looking at likely having to do another gap year in a different profession, but does not even feel that they could even begin to apply for clinical jobs bc they might have to abruptly leave should they be offered a late WL spot. No employer wants to hire and train someone who might be leaving in July with very little notice!

I bet there are some applicants on here with very successful cycles who are sitting on a number of A and WL that they could release right now, but it has just slipped their mind. My own child applied this cycle and until a few days ago, "forgot" his first acceptance at our mid tier state school - where I see eager SDN members salivating about when/how waitlist will work. So everyone and anyone can be guilty of such behavior in this stressful environment and with all of these distractions.

Like that one guy that is 99% sure they want to go to somewhere else but is hanging on to the acceptance "just in case" 🙁

Maybe one day they'll make a residency-match like system for medical school admissions. I mean it's only gonna get more competitive each year, which I think is unsustainable.
And this would actually benefit people with the 2 body problem. The residency match works very well for that. People can make lists that prioritize their career AND their relationship, then prioritizes career OR relationship, etc. Literally every possible combination can be listed in the order of satisfaction to the couple. And the couple can be any definition of a couple - even just friends!

To be fair, at this point in time I think quite a few people are still waiting on financial aid packages. I agree that waiting til the last minute for ALL of your acceptances is a bit excessive though.

I'm guessing Thursday is when acceptances come out. I have no inside information though lol, just a gut feeling
