2018-2019 University of Vermont

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Interviewed on 9/29, enjoyed the campus and interview day. They give you enough time for the coffee to hit you before the interview!

Met some friends who slipped away before we could add each other on social media, so if you’re lurking, hit me up ;p

Is there any more information you’d be willing to share about the interview ? Please let me know 🙂

My plane left at 4:30PM. I waited for an hour in the airport. I also stayed after the interview to talk with others so I wasn’t rushing. When I was at the airport, there was a faculty member also catching a flight out who was at my interview.

You’ll be fine with anything 4:30 or after. I agree that the airport and shuttles are the best way to get in/out. I actually ended up walking to Burlington from the airport and I just ubered back when I flew out. The Uber takes about 20 minutes from med school to airport if time is tight. TSA took 10 minutes tops as there is barely anyone in line. Good luck!

Hi friend,

Wish I could, but I don’t want to violate the NDA I signed for the interview day.

Anyone notice their essays on the portal appear to be cut off in the last sentence?

Update: Never mind, it was only cut off on my phone's browser

Just got an II invite yesterday! Earliest available date was January 9th. Submitted on 7/9, never received a complete email. LM 69, traditional, ORM, OOS, no ties. The location of this school looks absolutely perfect to me, and the school looks awesome too. I'm really excited to see what it looks like in person.

Can't really say many details about the interview day to a NDA, but I can say that the staff here makes you feel really welcome. They're super friendly and it really shows how they try to make the day as relaxed as possible.

anybody knows if the school doesnt give out II if one interviewed last year and ended up getting waitlisted?

I seriously doubt there's a hard and fast policy. They'll likely be looking at your application fresh and seeing how it's changed since last year.

I was just offered an interview invite for Mid January 2019. Am I interviewing for a spot on the waitlist since it is relatively late?

Does this mean UVM won't open up any more II slots this cycle? Last year, people got invites in January to schedule for Feb, but now it looks like they are going to fill them up by the end of this month. So I'm wondering if this year they have become another Tulane?

I mean they'll open up more down the road as people cancel their's, but wouldn't be surprised if they finish sending them out way earlier than previous cycles. As someone who was complete the first week of July and freaking lived in Vermont for 1/4 of my life, I'm really hoping to hear back soon. I can't help but wonder I have a red flag somewhere that I don't know of

Are you URM, first gen, high stat, overcame a significant life struggle etc? Most schools seem to be internally processing apps to prioritize people with one or more of those qualities. I’m guessing if we haven’t heard back it’s cause we’re not prioritized in that order. Plus it doesn’t look like this school cares that much about IS but could be wrong

Don’t give up hope just yet! They’ll have to get to your app eventually

If I'm traveling from the west coast to interview, is it worth sending an ITA to schools in MA and NH?

For those who interviewed already, do you guys remember if we find out on Oct 15 or any time after Oct 15?

I'm hesitant to think that a majority of us will hear on the 15th. They seem unsure of what they're doing in regards to campus placement and how that will affect admissions decisions. From my understanding only outstanding applicants will get outright acceptances, and it will be a slow wait for the rest.

The website said to just email them with updates. I emailed them, and the reply email was so nice and accepting 🙂

I interviewed the first day and was told OOS would likely hear back 10/15 (in state people wouldn’t hear back till December for some reason.) But I feel like the adcom & dean were unsure about the whole process due to the new traffic rules.

I feel like they do most of their communication in the morning so it's probably unlikely we'll hear anything today.
