For the people who were rejected, were any of you IS? I'm wondering if it was more OOS that heard this news compared to IS since VCU is a state-based institution
Stupid question perhaps, but is anyone scared that they have to admit that they have 0 acceptances to stay on the Alt List? Would this make them more or less likely to accept me?
To me I don't think it has any factor. They are likely just grabbing data.
I'm actually glad they asked that, because I've heard that sometimes when considering equal candidates, schools might be more inclined to give an acceptance to someone who has not gotten in anywhere. I haven't been accepted anywhere and VCU is a school I'd really like to go to. So for other people in the same situation, perhaps it could be an advantage in that sense.
I’m pretty sure they asked last year too lolAs everyone else is saying we can only guess if it has any impact. I am surprised that they asked that question though- aren't all the changes in process this year meant to protect that information for us so that it can't bias an offer?
Was anyone else thrown how they started the alternate message with “while we regret”, my eyes instantly went to we regret and I thought I was done-zo.
Don't shoot the messenger but II are over...Has anyone else not been Pre-II rejected? LOL

Probably not.. I was there last year, and I don't recall them sending the below update until ~May.Right! I'm just tryna see if I'm the only one 😛

Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. The overwhelming numbers of applications have made it simply impossible to interview all of the candidates who may be qualified to attend medical school. At this time, we are out of interview space and regret that we are unable to interview you.
The review of your file indicates that you have some fine qualities. While we are unable to interview you this year, we would suggest you consider reapplication if you are not accepted to another medical school. Reapplication should occur only after consideration and consultation of how to strengthen your profile.
We recognize and regret the disappointing nature of our decision and we wish you the best of luck in your future plans.
+1Has anyone else not been Pre-II rejected? LOL
+1That status update for the acknowledgment of your alternate list status just about gave me a heart attack lol
Lol sameee here...That status update for the acknowledgment of your alternate list status just about gave me a heart attack lol
Lol lets hope so. I definitely would like to know the size of the WL. It did seem like a fair amount of people got Rs, but who knows.
Facebook page: VCU (MCV) School Of Medicine Class of 2023 (Official)Hey guys! Does anyone know what the facebook page for accepted students is called? TIA!
Also, to anyone who was rejected or on the wait list, my fingers are crossed for you! I hope things work out for all of y'all. This can be such an emotionally tolling process - I just barely scraped by. I know all of you will end up where you're meant to be in the end! <3
I think they begin pulling from the WL on April 1 after everyone has had time to accept or decline their WL position.
Everything is weird and different this year because of the traffic rules. They formulated the waitlist 2 weeks early this year so maybe they’ll start accepting people earlier than in the past!
I don’t think it requires making the waitlist bigger just making it sooner, there were lots of rejections on sdn.I wonder then if they made the waitlist that much bigger because of these new rules. At least that is what I would do because I would expect so much more waitlist movement.

You'd think that with the new rules, there would be more people on the WL but it seems like the opposite is happening. A lot of other schools are handing out more R's post II
Do you think VCU has handed out more Rs than normal post II?
The mizzou thread is the first to come to mindDo you have any reference to that?
I would take SDN data with a grain of salt. Perhaps there were more applicants overall this year, more interviews at these specific schools, or just more students posting Rs on SDN. No way to know from what we see here whether there are more or less waitlisted/rejected applicants. The only way to know more than mere speculation would be to call and ask for a specific school's info. The mizzou thread is the first to come to mind

You could be right, but the fact that more sdn users got rejected in comparison to users in the last 5+ years is still concerning. I don't think the sdn user base has rapidly increased either so it does seem like a possible reason
New daily routine: *wake up, check email, check applicant portal, check sdn, eat, check email, check applicant portal, check sdn, walk dog, check email, check applicant portal, check sdn...*

The answers to your questions would be awesome to calculate ourselves into comfort but:
1) They won't know how many people are on the WL until April 1st (2 weeks from 3/18)
2) Rumors state that the WL moves in a nonlinear fashion because dropped spots are filled with applicants mirroring said demographics/statistics
3) They can't tell us everything. Chill and stay distracted until mid-May (then start panicking)
For sure and overthinking only makes it longer if you ask me..It is going to be a long month and a half. I guess 05/15 is a good benchmark.
