I feel so hopeless tbh
When I interviewed, Dr. Baker told us that there is a usually lot of waitlist movement, and that they are "highly selective" with who they accept outright. Thus, they place a large chunk of people on waitlist. Unfortunately, he said that March interviewees will be essentially interviewing for the waitlist b/c they expected to fill their class by March 1.
Wishing you all strength through this process. Apparently there is a scholarship for the last person accepted to VCU off the waitlist (something like $10k, not sure if annual).

No from looking at last years thread in mid March people are either invited to the waitlist or rejectedIf we've been passed over, are we automatically placed on the waitlist? Or are some people not going to make the waitlist and get rejected instead?
Man, I feel like I interviewed for the waitlist and not an actual spot in that case 🙁
same. that's incredibly messed up if that's true...

I’m pretty sure it’s a lot more than that! From my interview day they didn’t give a number but they said a “substantial” amount and for some reason I think I read/heard somewhere that it’s something like the first years tuition or COA or something.
They’ll pay full tuition for all 4 years of you’re the last one in
Don’t forget that they rank everyone the Monday after your interview. So if you do well at the interview you could wind up at the top of the list and then your basically just waiting for someone to drop out. So if you really like the school there is still a very high chance you get in!Thank you so much for this info - this is super helpful. I am OOS and was hoping that my interview was not for the waitlist. But since my interview is March 6, I may cancel. Hope that spot can go to someone that really deserves it.
Lordy, these days are taking a toll on my heart. I'm an OOS applicant too and so bummed to hear I was passed over today. My fiance is a surgical resident here in Virginia and I really REALLY want to go to VCU. *please powers that be, hear my plea for a waitlist spot*
But in the meantime... wine.

This process is grueling and takes a huge toll on one's spirit, but hang in there! Everything will work out the way it's supposed to. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get that waitlist acceptance!
If it's any consolation, no In-State acceptances were to be rewarded today (according to Dr. Whitehurst-Cook on 2/26).
This information is incorrect. Virginia residents and non-Virginians were extended offers this afternoon.
Likely, more will be made before WL.
Not a date in particular; it would be more of a rolling strategy. Thanks for sharing @Dean Mission. Does this mean there is another date for acceptance in the coming weeks?
AnyoneIs that only applicable to the newly interviewed applicants who have not received their committee review, or would those who already received but have not heard anything from VCU also be considered for this rolling acceptance process?
Anyone

Aw, thank you, sweetie! No news today, but fingers-crossed for good things in the near future.Do you mean that you didn’t get an admissions update today? I’m sorry you’re feeling down, I hope some good news comes your way soon 🙁

My mistake!! I guess I'm compensating for my lack of in-crowd status =(This information is incorrect. Virginia residents and non-Virginians were extended offers this afternoon.

When I asked the dean about the last couple of interview days, she made it sound as if there are seats in the class available for those dates. But since the committee doesn’t meet for those dates they may have a different protocol (IE if the dean directly chooses the accepted people from those dates). But she echoed that a good portion get off the WL and MSAR says 75 of the 100 got offersWhen I interviewed, Dr. Baker told us that there is a usually lot of waitlist movement, and that they are "highly selective" with who they accept outright. Last year they sent out the following portal update once interview season was over (I think around the start of April), but some schools are kind enough to wait until school actually starts in August before sending an official R.For those of us still waiting post-secondary, do you plan on rejecting us in mass later on, or rejecting us in waves every now and then?
Any accepted students have any interview tips?
Any advice for the prep? Ive only done 1 other MMI that was rather non traditional so there was really 0 way to prep for that one.Just relax, the MMI is chill and not something that you can really overly prepare for..

Your file has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee. The overwhelming numbers of applications have made it simply impossible to interview all of the candidates who may be qualified to attend medical school. At this time, we are out of interview space and regret that we are unable to interview you.
The review of your file indicates that you have some fine qualities. While we are unable to interview you this year, we would suggest you consider reapplication if you are not accepted to another medical school. Reapplication should occur only after consideration and consultation of how to strengthen your profile.
We recognize and regret the disappointing nature of our decision and we wish you the best of luck in your future plans.
+1Just relax, the MMI is chill and not something that you can really overly prepare for..
agreed! be prepared for one typical interview question, get some good sleep the night before+1
It was my chillest MMI by far; scorers did not aim to trip me up with follow-up questions, but rather they often asked questions that deepened the discussion; the questions were also straightforward and often relatable
Good sleep the night before has never been my strong suit (shoutout to the 2 hours I got before the MCAT)agreed! be prepared for one typical interview question, get some good sleep the night before

This early interview will be brought to you by Starbucks Trenta Cold BrewLol you sound just like me. On pretty much every important occasion related to med school apps/admission (MCAT, all my interviews), I have not had more than 4-5 hours of sleep.
That being said, adrenaline + coffee cures even an all-nighter before an interview day!
The last interview date is tomorrowJust got this update pre-II:
Your File Review is now complete. If you are granted an interview, you will receive a status update on your applicant portal. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates.
Does this mean I'm still in the running?
The last interview date is tomorrow
We didn't know how good we had it with specified admission dates...now everyday is an internal game of psychological warfare. There are no more specific dates for admission and I wake up every morning wanting to hurl.

I'm just hunkering down till early/mid-May, when the greedy people with 10 acceptances have to surrender them to us lowly average applicants. On the bright side, they have to get a WL made by the end of the month, so there's that deadline
Then you'll be excited to know that that'll start happening next month. After April 15, applicants can only hold onto 3 acceptances, and after April 30, only 1.I'm just hunkering down till early/mid-May, when the greedy people with 10 acceptances have to surrender them to us lowly average applicants.
