2018-2019 Wayne State University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think so. This is what I got: "Thank you for your interest in Wayne State University School of Medicine. We have received and processed your secondary application and the committee will begin review of your materials. The process will continue as we move through our process and may take some time before additional decisions are made."
Yup I got the same message to indicate completion. I'm still on MR as well.

Really? This is why I wanted to ask because doing a quick google search about this makes the process seem fairly easy. :/
In some states it's as simple as living in the state for a year and you can claim residency after the first year. I moved to Michigan about 5 years ago and it wasn't that straightforward here. To claim in-state tuition for a Michigan school I'm pretty sure you need to provide proof of living AND working for at least one year in Michigan before matriculation. Don't quote me on this but from what I've heard, you can't get in-state tuition by just coming here to go to school.

Thought I'd throw my stats down as well since it looks like good stats got the waitlist as well:

GPA: 3.91
MCAT: 510
Pretty good ECs 2000+ hours

Admissions guy 1: so... totally forgot to buy Christmas presents. Not a big deal but It's kinda hard to decide who should get an acceptance right now knowing that I'm gonna get chewed out later so... I say f*** it. Let's put them all on a waitlist and decide in January. Agreed?

Everyone else: Agreed!

Admissions guy 2: wait come on guys I think we really owe it to these applicants to come to a decision as soon as possible. They have worked so hard and tirelessly, shedding blood sweat and tears to get here and spending thousands of dollars to apply and then come interview at our school only to be left in agonizing limbo for another few weeks. That's not right, let's just all sit down and...

(Looks around and everybody is already out the door)

Admissions Guy 2: ehh f*** it I tried.

Please can someone post how to accept an acceptance. I went back to previous post but couldn't find it and my internet access is limited.

Go to portal, scroll to bottom of list, click "WSU Email Information", on new page that pops up click "Visit Connect", sign in again, click outlook, there should be an email in there.

Anyone know what the waitlist acceptance rates are at Wayne?

I got an email the day after my initial acceptance that contained a link to the online form!

Also, the acceptance went to my AMCAS email while the online form went to my Wayne email so be sure to check that one

Thank you very much!!!

Is it worth sending letters of update to Wayne if you have been placed in the alternate category?

Got a couple of emails recently from wayne asking me to apply before the cycle deadline.. No idea if its actually worth a shot
Bruh... theyre still sending those emails with like 5% of their interview slots left? Why

When do they stop interviewing? that OOS tuition is not too friendly either

Congratulations! This definitely does not seem like the norm so you must have done something extraordinary during the interview to stand out so much.
I also interviewed in October and received a decision four days following my interview. I interviewed at another school as well with a similar response time... I think it just depends on your interviewers.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has received a Post-Interview rejection yet?

It was merit based, I was accepted in late November & yes via email. And thanks!!
Heyo, just wondering had you filled out your fafsa before you got notice of the scholarship? Also curious what kind of stats earned you the scholarship? I’m accepted and a merit scholarship would be huge for me. Feel free to PM me if you prefer 🙂

I’ve had my fafsa done for awhile but I’m not sure if it mattered or not cause at the end of the letter it said to not forget to fill it out.
My stats are: 512 & 3.92
My friend also received this scholarship with a 521 and 4.0.
I’m not sure if this is solely based on stats or if there are other factors that play into it. The letter just stated that it was merit based. I think they give out most scholarships in March though (at least that’s what I heard).

To everyone else on the wait list, do you all feel nervous about your chances of getting off or you still hopeful that you'll get chosen?

honestly I don't think I received anything of the sort. I don't recall getting anything like that from the few other schools I sent updates to either.
I just thought not to bother them again to ask if they have received my update.

idk i'm trying to stay hopeful. plan on sending them an update letter soon. interviewed in september and waitlisted October. 509, 3.7. OOS lots of experience/work/shadow. I hear they have a lot of movement so fingers crossed

Happy New Year! I wish all of you a great 2019 and I have high hopes for the upcoming 2023 class.

Any recommendation on which hotel to stay for the interview? I have a car and don't mind staying far from university.

I stayed at the Trumbull and Porter hotel. It was an 10 minute drive by lyft. It's in Corktown, minutes outside of downtown. I love it and it was reasonably priced!

to those of you who were offered scholarships: do they come automatically if you are to receive one or did you fill out applications or the FAFSA?
