Any current students want to comment if iPad Pro will be worth the money for lectures/anatomy? Or how do most of the student's take notes? thanks in advance!
I have an iPad pro with pencil, it works great for taking notes. And yes, I would be well worth the money.

So a rather dumb question, but my portal is being difficult to navigate. Is the deposite the only thing due the 14th?

I've been recently accepted to this school and am strongly considering attending! Does anyone know if any sort of technology is provided? Many of the schools I have interviewed at give the students ipads, but I wasn't sure if this is the case here.

No technology is provided besides a clicker for answering questions in class, but money for a laptop/ipad is factored in the cost of attendance from the loans you will receive.

When is the first day of classes? Orientation? And if we do on-campus housing, when can we start moving in?

if you have an 80 or higher in all classes, how much mandatory lecture time is there?

Based on my old schedules:

Then first semester, you'll only be able to skip the ~4hrs/week of BECOM (1hr/day Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri). Anatomy is mandatory, so you'll be attending the ~6 hrs/week of lectures (~2hrs/day Mon, Wed, Frid) plus the 3 hours of anatomy lab (Group A or B). All OPP (1-2 hr lectures and 2 hrs lab a week) and FOPC (1 hr lecture and 2 hrs lab a week) are mandatory.

After 1st semester, all anatomy lectures will be replaced by IBC, FHC and BECOM lectures. So you'll be able to skip most days except the two days you'll have OPP and FOPC. Or the few days IBC, FHC or BECOM are being taught by guest(s).

See attachments for examples.

I forgot TBLs (they can last 3-4 hours) are mandatory as well of course. Which is about once every couple of weeks first semester, and about once a week (but occasionally you'll have 2 in a week) the other semesters.

Edit: Made a mistake in last part. It's been corrected

Does anyone have any thoughts on student housing. Ive read about the residents and I think everything offered is great, especially with convenience. However, I have my reservations, which may be changed with further research. Do most students utilize student housing? Is there another forum where accepted students can discuss options, maybe for those looking for roommates, possible renting a house?

If you want student housing, apply for it now on the school website. They'll email you details sometimes next year before school starts. Although it's a bit pricier than places around town, it is actually convenient, so most students do stay on campus, which is why I recommend you to apply now. If you decide you don't wanna stay on campus later, you can always cancel your application whenever. The only place people discuss options and look for roommates would be the official Class of 2024 ARCOM Facebook group, so you can join it now if you want, but these discussions probably won't happen till around sometime between April-July next year. Also I think if you apply for a 2 beds and say you need a roommate, when the time comes, they'll actually send you a list of all the people that also need a roommate.

I do have to say living right by school is amazing. I don't go here but I live a 3 minute walk from mine.

Any dog owners here taking their dog to medical school?

Hey if you live on campus you could regularly stop by and check on him!
Yes that’s what I’m doing. I decided to live on campus for that very reason (besides it’s very convenient). Thank you

Anyone know? What about Lyft? Also, anyone who was interviewed... can you give a synopsis on the process/day? You'll earn my friendship 🙂
Is there Uber in Fort Smith?
Several people in my interview cohort stayed at the Home2 Suites 5 miles from the school. The hotel offers a free shuttle to and from your interview. I was the only one who used the shuttle, so maybe others did indeed use uber/lyft & I can't speak to that, but I found the shuttle convenient. Interview day was pretty fun IMO. Dean welcomed us in the morning, interviews started about 45 min after that at about 8:45am and are scheduled to last 30 min. Then they talked about the curriculum and about the school/city a bit more, financial aid, etc., then we had a tour of the facility and on-campus housing. Had lunch with ARCOM students, dessert with the admins, finished ~1:40. Let me know if you have more questions.

Woooorddd. Thank you for the information. I will look into that hotel and definitely use that shuttle! Maybe we'll be future colleagues! 🙂

Replying for the friendship.. Stay at the Home2. They will already have transportation figured out for you. I heard Uber/Lyft are present but unreliable as there's not too many drivers in the area.

If I brought my car down, I would definitely accept any of y'alls rides for Lyft 😀

I be flying there for interview tomorrow. I just wonder Uber is not exist in forth smith?

Got an II. Anyone attend the optional meet + greet the night before? What was it like? I would like to make it, but it'll be hard for me to make with my work schedule.

What time did you fly out after the interview? Does a 3:40PM flight seem reasonable after 1:40? (Any idea what the shuttle timings were like?)

I attended it. It was very laidback with 3 current students and a good majority of the people interviewing the next day. It helped calm my nerves for the interview knowing I already knew some people there interviewing with me.

Wooorddddd. Thanks for the info! Any chance you know how often the shuttle runs from Home 2 Suites to the school and back?

3:40pm would be perfect! The airport is tiny (2 minute screening) and is just a few miles away and the shuttle will take you. I flew out at 6:00pm because nothing earlier was available and had to just hang out in the hotel lol. Check-out is like 11:30am, so if you plan on flying later, maybe ask if you can get later checkout. Just something I wish I did differently during my trip.

Whenever you request it; during interview days, they expect people to use the shuttle, so the driver is typically nearby.

If you are flying out of Fort Smith then yes, 3:40 is easily doable. I did it. Very small airport, not busy at all.

Hello everyone! Quick question:

In your opinion, should I pay my admission deposit with a credit card or check? I just received enough money to pay with a check so I would not have to pay the extra fees, but I am worried that ARCOM will not receive it in time or it gets lost in the mail (deposit due 12/14).

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It might work out, but if I were in your position, I wouldn't risk it. I'd be worried the entire time the check was in transit. I used a credit card, but there is a $72 fee tacked on to the deposit.

I live in Fort Smith so I did not utilize the shuttle. I am certain other people can comment on what time the shuttle drops you off in the morning and picks you up.

I flew into Fayetteville. It was roughly a 90 minute drive each way for me!

In my opinion, coming from someone who didn't have 72 to spare, credit card payment and immediate confirmation was well worth it.

I haven't paid mine yet, but just as a suggestion, won't a checking account be the better option? So you can use your money and not have to pay the extra $72.

That's for people that actually have $2K on their checking account. I remember 2 years ago going to interviews. I was literally broke after just 5 of them. It's an expensive process, but I'm not holding my breath for residency applications to be better though lol.

A credit card with a decent cash back % could also pay back some to most of the 72.00 fee
