2019-2020 Baylor

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was worried about this too, but just called admissions and the woman on the phone said "Baylor never really closes," so the odds of a rescheduled interview are pretty low! I'd still keep an eye out for an email/tweet, though.
the way this normally works is if your airline says they can't go to Houston and ask you to rearrange your travel, you call them and let them know to reschedule.

I'm OOS and interview was scheduled for tomorrow, but all flights to Houston have been cancelled for today and tomorrow 🙁 I'm bummed about this. Since it's rolling admissions, hopefully I won't be rescheduled to a way later date. Fingers crossed

Does anyone know when the interview day actually ends? Flight back is 8 PM and the program says there’s stuff scheduled 4-6
I had to catch a flight as well! The interview block is from 1-4 and then there is tours during those times, but they tell you if you have to leave to catch a flight after your interviews it's totally fine.

OOS. LizzyM 76.6. Submitted AMCAS 8/8, secondary 8/15, LORs 8/23. Should I expect an II from Baylor and if so, how much longer do y'all think they'll take to send me an II?

Nobody can “expect” an II. As for when, it’s totally unpredictable. I got one last week after being complete in the first couple weeks of July, but plenty of people complete afterwards have gotten much earlier IIs.

Baylor goes top down based on GPA +MCAT for interviews. So it is common for people with higher stats to get earlier interviews.
Do you know this for sure? My GPA is pretty low (and very low for Baylor) and I got an II on the first day they sent them out.

Yeah... I'm just anxious because I only have one II so far and it's from my in-state school.
Baylor’s acceptance rate for OOS is like 1%. There are many other schools where you are more likely to get IIs. But I’ll be hoping you get one to Baylor!

I have read their evaluation starts there and any other scores they add based on the apps and whatever you score in interviews gets added for a final admit.

What else do you have going for you. 🙂

Is it a good idea to send a post-II thank you card to BCM? I know some schools specifically tell you not to, but I couldn't find anything on Baylor.

TexasVandy, if higher stats get earlier interviews, do early interviews get earlier acceptances; assuming the interview went well? When does Baylor begin their acceptances? I was in the second interview group? LM 75, MCAT 516, GPA 4.00, URM.

Not sure if they changed the policy with the rest of the Texas schools or not but in the past they admitted the first group right after November 15th.

Baylor is quite ambiguous about this. Tbh you could probably do either

I've never done this before so I'm a complete noob on the subject. Is the thank you letter an e-mail, or a physical card? And if it's a physical card, is it simply addressed to the admissions committee?

so i just added this school and submitted my secondary because my husband has to unexpectedly move to houston for work, instead of coming with me to whatever school i get in to. can any of you all comment on my chances with it being so late? My LM is apparently 68, but idk how exactly to calculate mine. I am OOS, URM, with ~1000 clinical hours, ~2000 research hours, and ~600 volunteering hours. i would love to go here so i can live with my husband but it's so late idk my chances. thanks!

UHouston will probably begin accepting applications in October. Something to consider!

Anyone know what time the interview day starts and ends? Trying to purchase flights accordingly.

II today for the beginning of January. app completed 06AUG. IS. LM 73.
Are my chances of acceptance significantly lower since my interview date is one of the last available?

Nope. They always have one interview date after TMDSAS Match Day too.

Does anyone know when Baylor begins their acceptances this year? How quickly do they send rolling acceptances after the first day?

Starts in November. Acceptances roughly every 2 weeks but not necessarily.

Were there other dates offered before January or are these all filled now?

Based off of last year's thread, look like October is a sparse month for Interview Invites (outside of what looks like replacing ppl who cancel their interview or can't make it. Someone already getting a January II makes this seem more true.

Oh well, McGovern pls.

Does anyone know if Baylor is receptive to ITA emails for OOS students? Having relatively few interview dates might make this difficult.

Just curious but for anyone who has already interviewed, did they say anything about if they are going to keep their historical trend of their first acceptances being given mid/late November or will the TMDSAS pre match date being moved up cause them to move up as well to keep their history of being approx a week after the first TMDSAS pre match date?

I interviewed in September and they said first acceptances will be sent out mid November. They didn't mention much about lining up with TMDSAS' cycle.

same!! hopefully not for waitlist but still an interview

"interviewing for the waitlist" is a hard-to-kill pre-med myth.
Baylor interviews until the first week of February and hasn't even offered any acceptances so far.

No need to go in with this mindset. 😵

Definitely not...they explained they basically have a growing ranking list...so cohort 1 interviews and is ranked 1-65; then cohort 2 interviews and they are added into the list (someone could jump to #1), etc. In mid/late november they start calling the top 30-40 people on their list and offer acceptances while their rank list keeps growing with new interviewees being incorporated....so definitely not just interviewing for a waitlist

They weren't transparent about whether their are separate lists for IS/OOS, just that typically it is an 80/20 split but state having no official quota

Baylor accepts people from November until April. (with any WL movement happening thereafter)

I understand the fear with several TMDSAS schools that prematch most of their class and match the remaining, but because baylor is AMCAS with rolling admissions until April, you're absolutely still interviewing for a spot.

Who comprises cohort 1? How many in cohort 1?
