Interviewing this week, can anyone say whether or not the MMI stations are all scenario/actor based or are there more general interview prompt based stations as well?

Be prepared for both! Even for the scenario stations, I found out that being able to weave in personal aspects definitely helped me support my answers, and sometimes interviewers can ask follow-up questions that lean toward general interview questions. For me, reviewing my AMCAS application the night before was enough prep

what is the curriculum change? also how long did it take for you guys to hear back?

Not sure if you're still interested in this subject, but here is an article giving a brief overview of the change: MCG receives approval for major MD curriculum redesign

From what I've been told (by a friend who is a current M1), the curriculum will essentially accelerate the didactic phases to allow for completion of classroom learning by May-ish of year 2, and nearly immediate transition into clinical rotations, so students can spend more time doing rotations in clinical settings. It is my understanding that the plan is to have students spend more time in the hospital prior to taking Step 1, which would be taken December-ish of year 3. If accepted, Second Look should provide some really helpful insights into the new curriculum timeline and allow incoming M1s to ask questions and get a better idea of how the new curriculum is supposed to work.

Hope this helps! 👍

M2 year ends in June under the current curriculum so this does not seem like a change at all..

This is incorrect as all medical schools mandate that Step 1 be taken prior to start of M3.

Speculating, but what's more likely is 1.5 year preclinical, 1.5 clinical, and M4 year for pursuing specific interests.

Do they release a wave of acceptances on the third Friday of the month in December even with the holidays? Or do they come out at a different time?

Also wondering about this

It appears that they are following the same schedule as last year (per last year's thread).

So if all stays the same... every third Friday up until the new year. Then some acceptances and rejections throughout early February. Mid-February applicants were waitlisted.

Then it seems that people were periodically accepted/rejected from the list moving forward. Hope that helps!

So no acceptances on the 3rd Friday of January?

Mid 3.8’s sgpa and cgpa, business major, 511, 2 semesters of lab research (non clinical), decent EC involvement, and originally I had 100+ hours shadowing but no clinical work experience or clinical volunteering. I interviewed for EDP (thought it went pretty well) but was deferred to regular decision.
I submitted an update letter the last week of November at which point I had just shy of 40 clinical volunteering hours and just shy of 50 hours of clinical work experience (as an MA).
What do y’all think? I really really want to believe that I’ll get good news this Friday but I’m not sure if I’m being overly optimistic

Do you have any non-clinical volunteering? If I had to guess I’d say it’s the lack of much clinical experience holding you back. Most people applying have the shadowing, plus a decent amount of clinical volunteering and/or work experience.

Also, not trying to be negative, but it’s possible that the update with less than 100 hours each of clinical volunteering and work isn’t going to be particularly impressive to them, but hopefully I’m wrong! Did you include that you should gain X amount of hours of them prior to matriculation?

For accepted students, have you received anything after the email confirming receipt of deposit?

I do and did have non-clinical volunteering.
yeah I included my planned hours before matriculation (clinical work should total to 200+ hours at the minimum, clinical volunteering should total to 120+ hours at the minimum)

Gotcha, that's good about the volunteering because that's important! 200 and 120 hours are honestly not that much but hopefully they'll appreciate your effort. I know that their "goal" is for applicants to have 400+ hours of clinical exposure and 400+ hours of service/other ECs.

Their prime applicants meet or exceed those numbers in clinical and service experience and then are also above average academically and have 2+ leadership experiences. So, you can kind of rate yourself based on those standards. Not meeting each of them doesn't mean you're screwed but I think they will first accept applicants who do meet each of these standards.

For those who are accepted and still in school, do we send the transcript for fall semester, or just one final transcript after spring?

Sent from my LG-H631 using SDN mobile

Nope I keep checking my portal lol to make sure I didn’t miss anything but haven’t gotten any additional correspondence

The only thing I found is that one person said they got their e-mail around 8:45am last month. Not sure if it was all one batch or not though :/
JK--just found another person that said they got there's around 8am. Based on what's on SDN, they all seem to be in the morning but a bit staggered? Hopefully it's all throughout the day though, I'm also anxiously checking my email at work.

3rd time med school applicant....just received my acceptance today!! For those who are in a similar position of reapplying, keep pushing...you'll get there!
congrats!!! that's so awesome to hear!

If you don't mind me asking, what time did they send the email out? I'm just wondering if they send them all at once or stagger them a bit in the morning

I got mine at 8:50am. Interviewed late October. From the previous releases, all the emails were sent at the same time give or take.

Do they send emails today with a waitlist or reject decision? Or only acceptances receive information?

Those of you who felt you got passed over during one acceptance day but eventually accepted, did you send any sort of update or LOI?

I interviewed on October 29th and still haven't heard anything... Part of me thinks nothing of it and part of me assumes the worst

Anyone done enough past-year thread studying to have a general idea of the percentage of their planned acceptances that they've offered thus far?

Fellow interviewees, were you told when a possible decision would be made?
I interviewed last week, but we were not given any info about when to expect a decision.

I interviewed in mid December. They stated the committee meets twice a week to go over applications and interview decisions. From the thread history looks like they send out info every third Friday of the month. If you don’t hear back at the 1 month mark from your interview date it looks like most are being waitlisted. This is only my observation and some may have heard back earlier.

I'm curious what you mean by "If you don’t hear back at the 1 month mark from your interview date it looks like most are being waitlisted."? Do you mean that most people this cycle in that scenario have been getting waitlisted, or that people in past cycles in that scenario ended up getting waitlisted?

From what I’ve seen there’s a mass email between 8-9 am. A lot people in the threads didn’t receive an email and ultimately was waitlisted a few days later. Some were also accepted a few days later. I’m not 100% sure how they’re doing it. This is only patterns I’ve seen.

Hmm, I'm confused because I obsessively check this thread and I don't think I've seen anyone get waitlisted lol. Unless you're referring to past years applicant getting passed on and then eventually waitlisted later?

For more data, I interviewed in November and haven't been accepted, rejected, or waitlisted.

These are just my observations. My only sample size is this and a few past threads. I don’t know how it truly works. I just wanted to answer the guy above.

Fair enough. Not trying to troll you or anything, but for the record, I don't think anyone's been waitlisted this cycle. But, it may be true that if you get passed on, you're likely to be waitlisted in February.

I interviewed in late Oct, heard nothing in November and was accepted this month. So if you got passed over on a decision release, don't give up hope!

I was a re-applicant and I interviewed last January where I was then waitlisted in February with no luck. For majority of the cycle, they have been releasing every 3rd Friday but if I remember correctly they didn't release any decisions in January and just did a mass final release of decisions in mid Feb where people were accepted, rejected, and waitlisted then.
