2019-2020 Rush

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My first and only interview just turned into my first ACCEPTANCE! Got the e-mail this morning and have been crying and non-stop smiling ever since. I can’t believe I’m going to be a doctor! Wishing you all get to experience this feeling!!

:biglove::clap:

Future applicants reading this thread in years to come, I received an interview invite in February, interviewed one of the last slots, and got accepted straight off (no WL, no active consideration). This process is incredibly unpredictable, so try not to compare your journey to others, wishing you all the luck in the world.
YESSSSSS!!!!! I WISH I COULD MAKE MY FONT BIGGER TO EXPRESS HOW EXCITED I AM FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to all accepted! Were you all interviewing on the last interview day?

Have any accepted students been able to access their Rush email? I can access the Rush student portal but when I try to login in to my Rush email it says that no mailbox is available.

I've been able to access it. However, recently (the last few days), I've been getting the same message you have. Possibly a problem with their system?

How do you access this? I was unable to login to the financial aid portal thing.

Does anyone know if we have to submit the FAFSA to be eligible for merit scholarships?

Yes, to get any funding from rush you need FAFSA. Must include parents (if under 30) info. to get full amount.

Re-reading the page, the only thing you can get as a student without providing parent's information (if under 30) is federal unsub loans, grad plus loans, and work-study. So, they don't give aid without parent's info.

Ok thanks. I was unsure because on the website it says that students are automatically considered for merit scholarships. This gave me the impression the FAFSA wasn’t a requirement for merit based scholarships.

Yea, that does sound kind of sound strange. Per the financial aid handout given at the interview, it says "In order to apply for federal and institutional funding, applicants must complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants under the age of 30 who wish to be considered for Rush scholarships, grants, and discretionary loan programs must include parent information on the FAFSA."

Interesting. Their website states otherwise:
"Parent information is required if you are a medical student and you want to be considered for need-based discretionary funding through Rush."

"Merit-based: You automatically considered either through the admissions process or after grades are in."

Interesting. The website mentions 2015-2016 often. The printout lists 2019-2020. It might be worthwhile to contact them and ask for clarification between the 2 sources.

Submitted my FAFSA last month and got a confirmation email. I read and heard that Rush starts processing them throughout the first few weeks of March. When do we start applying for potential scholarships? A bit lost on this portion of the process

For those who were accepted, how do you know what your Rush email is? I've submitted the deposit and want to start working on financial aid but I don't know where to find what my Rush account email is!! Any help is appreciated!!

You will get an email with all that information to get you set up

Has anyone received any more information about Second Look and applying to the Health Equity program?

That's what I've been waiting for so I can start booking flights and hotels. I wonder if they're still having a second look with coronavirus going around

Anyone know what the best number is to call the admissions office? Some reason, I can only find their email.
Thanks!

I really don’t think they give post interview R

I'm sure they're very rare, but I have seen some reported in previous years' threads. I assume it's pretty difficult to get one unless you absolutely bomb the interview. As they have a fairly high post-II A rate, I'm sure they prefer to hold onto as many interviewees as possible.

Rush sent out this notice yesterday. Got a feeling that Second look is going to be canceled, but I guess we'll have to wait for the final word from the admissions team.

48-Hour Notice for COVID-19 Instruction Transition

In response to coronavirus concerns, Rush University is transitioning in-person classes to remote instruction beginning Friday, March 13, 2020. Clinical rotations and lab courses will not be a part of this change.

Additionally, all University events through April 15, including the Research Forum, Global Health Week and the Global Health Symposium are cancelled.

Travel restrictions continue to be in place through April 15 or until further notice.

Stay tuned to [email protected] for further updates.

Looks like my plan of Schmoozing my way into Medical School isn't gonna fly.

Checked today and I've gotten my financial aid package! It wasn't an email or notification, I just checked the student portal

How soon after paying your deposit did you get access to your student portal? I submitted mine last week but still haven't gotten any information...

Did you get a confirmation your FAFSA was received?

Also guys given that UIC just made their second look online, I think it’s kinda safe to assume Rush will too

I just got an email saying that i need to complete Projected enrollment form. Anyone else hear this? The projected enrollment form says right on it that only students obtaining other degrees (not MD) have to submit that form. Also that form requires a Student ID, which I don't have. Sent an email to financial aid office, but was wondering if anyone else ran into this.

Never got an email from them regarding the form, but it came up in a callI had with their Fin Aid office back then. Long story short, we don't have to complete it
