Does anyone know for the AHA course, (the in-person section), should we choose the BLS provider or BLS provider skills session course?

Also did anyone do it in New York and can confirm that its online until the pandemic is over?

If you already did the online portion, I would suggest to call the place and tell them you're specifically looking for the 1 hour session. You have to call to confirm your class anyway, might as well schedule it through the phone to avoid any confusion. They're still doing the in person session, just cut down to 1-2 people apparently.

I was accepted Friday from WL and am planning to attend. Have taken quite the journey to get this A, it doesn't feel real yet and I am still kind of in shock. Very happy and grateful nonetheless.

Does anyone have any updates or insight if fall semester will be online only or go on as usual? I am an OOS applicant (west coast) planning a last minute move and hoping to find out what is happening from a current student or applicant. I am hesitant to bug the admissions committee, and I am guessing they will update us when they are certain what is happening.

Hoping to hear good news for all of you amazing folks on this thread (especially @AnonymousDoctorGuyPerson and @catladybutnormal) . I hope we are classmates in Fall. Thank you!

Congrats!!! Oof your position is definitely rough, what with having to move across the country.

Theres been no word yet and I dont think Downstate has an idea yet either. My personal assumption is that theyll move things to online that are easy to do that way such as lectures and what not but will try and have in-person classes for more essential activities such as clinical skills as soon as they find it safe. This could be as early as August but could be later as well.

Personally I would make the move as though classes were starting in person day 1 as I think there will be some benefit to that. It definitely doesnt hurt to maybe give more time to see how the situation progresses, say another month, which would still provide you with ample time to move.

I would move too if you don’t mind the cost as you could meet roommates from school! If you don’t mind what WL date were you accepted from?

I just don’t understand why they want all of these forms if we’re on the alternate list, especially with the current situation.
 
Like they’d rather us still make the july 1 deadline because we prepared for all of June rather than start preparing a week before it because we waited for an acceptance to even look at the list
 
Hey guys, just want to let you all know that DS is VERY responsive with all the forms that they need. I emailed them a few PDF versions of the pre-matriculation stuff and they check-marked it the same day.

For those asking why they should do all these things if they are on the AL, because they want to make sure you're ready in terms of health clearance, etc.. before you matriculate. All of these things are due on 7/1/2020, and who knows you may even get the A after the due date. If they have seats open near orientation day/after CTE deadline I am sure they will pick ALs who have all these forms complete. Regardless, you need immunization forms complete for your other As, might as well send them to DS too.

Exactly this. I wouldn't say an acceptance is contingent on having the pre-matric checklist done, or even having some of it done, it's just their AL movement can continue all the way through July and even August and if someone waits to start the checklist after getting the A in July they have a limited timeframe to get everything in before the start of class.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if in July they maybe start taking preference for those who got some or all of the checklist done.

Waitlisted Sunday before last. Thanks for the reply. Yea, the cost is insane for what you get and right now it seems like only virtual/FaceTime tours for apartments. I want to move and that is the plan for now.

I am in the same boat, but I have yet to see one 🙁 I believe a former student I know said the class above us is supposed to make a group or something? Not too sure when this will happen.

Has anyone did the criminal background check yet? Can we just send the results of a different criminal background check to Downstate or do we have to do an entirely new one?
 
Are there many more sunday waitlist peeps who haven’t heard back yet? I’m a wednesday waitlist person so as a low priority waitlist person it’s difficult to keep hope lol

Yeah theres still a couple of us on SDN who got the WL on May 10th. Maybe thatll change this week haha.
 
LONG time lurker here and I really appreciate all the positive vibes in this thread !!

Quick question tho: what’s the Sunday vs. Wednesday waitlist? And how do we know the Sunday waitlist is a higher priority than the Wednesday one? or is this all just more speculation

They should have sent you an email about it. They use a third party website, Certiphi backgroung screening. That's what most med schools are using, so you may have an account there already. If they don't send you an email with a link, you might want to let them know so they can send you where to go. Do it fairly quick though, because it took a while for my background check to be marked as completed, wouldn't be surprised if COVID had something to do with the wait..

Is this only for people who have already gotten at least 1 Acceptance? I am sitting on 0 A 3 WL but I have never gotten an email about Certiphi background screening..

Yeah in both cases I needed to fill out that screening, it was for an acceptance. None of the schools I was on the waitlist for sent me an email for the background check.

I think it's speculation. Just from what has been reported on this thread, anyone who got off the AL list were the people who got on the AL list on Sunday 5/10. I am one of the Wednesday the 5/6 list lol, so i'm hoping it really is speculation
