Chances of decisions being released today?

I've seen a lot of posts here regarding updates so I thought I would share my experience! I sent in an update a couple of weeks ago (no II) to their e-mail and got a very nice generic response (thanks for the update etc.)! I think they accept pre-ii updates.

I wonder how decisions will come out. Email, phone call, portal? Does anyone know? Been waiting since October! The anxiety is at an all time high lol

Is there a reason why people think decisions are coming out this week? Their website says early February 2020

Will be interviewing here soon. My interview is in the afternoon, anyone mind sharing their experiences/schedule of the day and any suggestions for interview preparation? Thanks in advance!

Just received a "Requesting Confirmation of Interview Interest" email from Downstate. Am I playing mindgames with myself or is this a pre-II?

Got the same e-mail. Wonder if it means anything... seems like a strange thing to send.

Its prob moreso like "we want to give u an interview, but dont want to schedule it unless youre down to come" aka if you havent gotten in somewhere better/personal top choice, etc. so they can give those ii's that people dont want to people that do considering it is the final third of the cycle

Is there anything we need to do to confirm that we're still interested in interviewing?! From what I could tell it seems like the only option was to withdraw if you're no longer interested in an interview.

And the deadline was Jan 20, so I suspect there will be a wave of IIs next week

I'm assuming that you don't have to do anything if you're still interested

That's how it reads-- it just says to withdraw if you are not interested, but no directive if you are. What a bizarre email... Assuming this went out to everyone who hasn't interviewed?

Not I! assuming there is some criteria - you guys are likely a pool they want to draw from for the next batch of IIs

This was not sent to everyone who hasn’t interviewed even though this was the first day that they sent this email. I spoke to a friend who goes there and they said that they’re most likely selecting the next batch of potential interviewees.

Do you think it would hurt to ask about open interview slots?

My interview is scheduled for mid-March and ooo boy I wish I could go sooner haha. I'm also slightly worried about how my chances are potentially affected with such a late interview, given that acceptances and thus seats will have been filled before I get to sit. I think I'm just really excited about this II and growing impatient lol.

To at least contribute to conversation - any current students commuting from Queens? I live about an hour to an hour and a half away by subway to Downstate and wonder if anyone else currently attending commutes for that long. I figure I lose the benefit of easy access to resources and class, but get the benefit of staying in my 'criminally' low rent apartment with some of my oldest friends, plus the commute sort of forces me to study / anki which is nice. Any input would be great! <3

I think it’s okay to let Downstate aware that you’re available to attend earlier interview slots if they become available but I’m not sure if it’s okay to ask them if they have open slots. I haven’t received an interview (yet?) but I did send them a letter of interest and told them in the email that I’m available to attend last minute/cancelled interviews because of my flexible work schedule.

Either way you shouldn’t be concerned that you have a late interview date. I’ve heard of students, not from this school but in general, who’ve heard back from a school in May and even later and ended up going there.

For those who have interviewed, is there anything specific we have to bring to the interview? I'm assuming an ID but I just want to make sure there isn't anything else. Thanks!

Good luck to you anon doctor guy man. I don't think it'd hurt!

I also got the “requesting confirmation of interview interest” email 1/15. Biggest tease of 2020

Can’t help but think every applicant without an II yet would be receiving it

I put my money on them picking a pool of people they want to interview in the final months, and then sending it to them to see if the feeling is mutual before scheduling

I looked at some of the previous app cycle threads and saw that receiving the email was not a good indication of whether or not you'd get an II. In fact, some people who announced that they had received an II said they never received the email. Some people who received the email posted that they got R's a few weeks later, others didn't post again..

Sooooo... it's an unknown, but I definitely would not worry about NOT getting the email haha

My lord and savior saved me from neuroticism

You should definitely continue to follow up... My peer to peer reached out to me either the night of or the day after my interview. We got the phone call done that same week.
I'm having the same issue. I'll follow up with them again today.

Can anyone share the breakdown of their interview day? What did the day entail? Thank you.

Any word on when first acceptances come out? I remember someone called and they told them mid-late January so I would assume some time this week?
