I sent it to the admissions email (and asked them to forward it to my interviewer). then a few weeks later I uploaded an update on the portal and noticed that you could upload thank you letters so I uploaded it there too just in case

Oh man, I've been talking to my friend who is a MS1 here and going over their curriculum and falling more and more in love with this school. Already was my top choice based of price and location, but now it's just overall my top.

Also, who are the interviewers mainly? I know someone who got interviewed by some psychologist and was getting psychoanalyzed and criticized his entire interview

they're aren't directly involved in that they don't make decisions. The way my interviewer made it sound like was that it's the interviewer's job to try to defend the applicant to the ADCOMS

They probably volunteer. I imagine whenever somebody steps down that a hospital/school-wide email goes out that says “hey, you’re affiliated with the school in some way, are you interested in being on the admissions committee? All it requires is that you interview a few students every month and attend twice-monthly meetings.” (Or something along those lines.)

I think it depends on your interviewer. Mine was very straightforward with the fact that she was on the Admissions Committee itself - so I think there's a mix of adcom members that interview and interviewers that just report back to the committee with the notes they took during your interview. I think the interviewers are a combination of practitioners, professors/instructors, and faculty in other schools at Downstate (like the School of Public Health).

I'm super nervous because I'm already a reapplicant and basically all my eggs are in the Downstate basket. On top of that my interview hasn't happened yet so I'm pretty low on their list (total assumption on my part).

Any tips on doing well for their interview? What makes me a bit more nervous is my friend recently interviewed and told me she had a unpleasant interviewer. It sounded brutal. Anyone willing to share who their interviewer was just so I know possibly who/what to expect? Hoping that's not agains the rules.

My interviewer was a sweet old lady and it's just luck what kind of interviewer you end up with. Just be confident and humble and maintain your composure no matter what interviewer you get! make sure you talk about how downstate is you number one choice and convey specifics. It's only a one traditional interview 30-60 minutes and they have lists of questions already so it should be relaxed. SDN has an interview feedback page with some of the questions they have previously asked, so def look at that. Good Luck!!!!

Downstate’s website says “early February” - I think the MSAR or AMCAS says Feb. 14th, but I’m not sure. The day of the week probably depends on what day the adcom meets to discuss applicants and make decisions.

Acceptances (other than early decision) haven’t been sent out yet as far as I know, but should come soon/in early February. Downstate continues to do interviews into March or April.

I called the admissions office just now to see if they had any update on when decisions would be released. The person I spoke to said they don’t have a set date for the first round of decisions because it’s a continuous process :/

Anyone else have a really long and somewhat aggressive interview? Mine was about 1.5hrs with a psychologist and they dissected every grade I didn't do well on and psychoanalyzed my entire life story. Not feeling too good about it!

Sorry to hear that friend :/ However if you handled the pressure well and answered all their questions that is what matters.

Lol if my interviewer goes over every bad grade I had in undergrad we may not finish our interview until 8pm.
