2019-2020 SUNY - Downstate

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do you all think that the rest of us who have yet to hear of any news post-interview will be either accepted/alternative list? Was last week's post-II rejection wave the first of several rejection waves (hopefully it was the first and last since multiple people from Sept-Feb got the R, but maybe March interviewers weren't included in this)?

I interviewed Jan/Feb and have heard nothing, submitted LOI ~a month ago..
Thanks!

I think only the adcom can answer this as we are all speculating and have no clue LOLOL. this year's timeline is very different from last year as other users have pointed out. hopefully we get decisions and aid packages within the next two weeks

Pure speculation for the fun of it, I believe it's certainly possible. That rejection wave had a lot of people in it. As for the March interviewees, there may have been fewer people who interviewed in March than other months and so the ones rejected, if any, could be people who don't post on SDN. I'd find it weird they'd do a big post-II R wave for everyone but one small month of interviewees. Actually, were there interviews in April?

Hahaha, literally same, I've been speculating to the MAX. I believe last year, April 18th was the last day of interviews. I do not think anyone from this cycle posted an April II, unless ofc it was a non-SDNer. I am holding very tightly to the fact that people who interviewed after me, received a R which would suggest(speculating here, haha) that Adcom reviewed my application and decided not to axe it. But then again who knows..

Fingers crossed for everyone who has been refreshing their email and this thread non-stop!

Maybe the decision for the ADCOM at this point is among the interviewees who have yet to be rejected, how many will be admitted outright and how many will be put on an AL. My guess is that answer depends heavily on the 4/30 AMCAS decisions, and therefore we may not hear until after then.

Or we could hear tomorrow! Like everyone else here I have no idea how this works. I do know that I'm losing my mind waiting for these decisions and speculating helps ~ease the pain~

I've got the ~QuaraNTInE MaDness~ myself, so speculating has become a hobby.

Pretty much to me it seems the two possibilities are:
  • No one hears until after April 30th, where there will be an Acceptance wave and an AL wave
  • We hear before April 30th, large AL wave, potentially a sprinkle of acceptances, with movement then occurring after April 30th.

Yup, def agree with those possibilities. I remember calling Admissions before the quarantine and was told that decisions(regardless of type) are made weekly (I believe Thursdays). This has seemed pretty consistent during this cycle. The first acceptance wave was on Thursday, post-II R also Thursday..So maybe this week we get some good newssss!

Let’s hope for no rejection waves. Lol

Welp. When I was registering for an interview slot the last date was April 28... not sure if they stuck with it or changed it to sooner because it's online now just fyi.

Also me all week...

Oh wow, April 28th seems hella late! Yea so I'm sure there will be more rejection waves unless those slots are for Alt List 🙁((((((((

With dates extending that far I suppose it's more likely they wont make any acceptance/AL decisions until after them, and as such after April 30th.

Was last weeks decision wave only rejections? Is it possible it was acceptances too? Seems to me if you know who to reject post interview then you should have some idea who to accept too. Unless they do rejections and acceptances separately?

There was an acceptance for someone who interviewed in Feb.

Tbh, I don’t want to count that one person just yet because no one else posted an acceptance . It seemed rather unexpected/surprising that Downstate would send rejections and acceptances the same day/time.

yeah that seemed to be an outlier

Her acceptance. She interviewed the same day as me

Oh nice!!! Congrats to her!! Must have been a pure coincidence that no other SDNer announced their A. At least there was positive news also, this would mean that the next round of decisions is most likely ALs

Thanks!

No it doesn't mean anything. Stop speculating lol I mean I need to believe I will get an A this week.

the February acceptance wave started on February 18 which was a Tuesday 🤔

I applied MD/MPH, and it shows the MPH offer I already received and something saying "Offer Response- MD/MPH"

Yes I have the same thing, applied MD/MPH also

It might be a mistake from the MPH program. did you get a rejection before

No I haven't been rejected but this would be a ****ty way to find out I was lol. I don't know why they would phrase the response as "MD/MPH" rather than "MPH"

Is it a clickable tab that says anything, or just has "Admissions Decision" on the banner?
It's clickable and when I do click it it brings me to a page saying
Congratulations! You have been Offered Admission!
Please refer to the Offer Letter tab for your official Offer Letter, and choose your decision below.

Then when I go to the offer letters I only see an MPH offer, but the admissions decision tab indicates I'm either accepting or not accepting an MD/MPH offer.

This school it too much man!!

Send them an email for clarification: “Am I in or nahh”

Edit: Maybe check AMCAS Choose Your Medical School, see if it shows up. Worth a try I guess

Maybe it’s a sign of impending decision release lol

Oh dang, what a whirlwind of emotions you must be feeling haha. Is there a "decision" to choose below?

I feel this is a good sign for you?

Have you checked your communication status tab?

I essentially did- really hoping I didn't muck up my chances but ya know what I've been waiting for months and this was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Also nothing new in "Communication Status" and I don't see anything new in the "Choose Your School" thing on AMCAS, although I don't know how quickly that updates

Did that Decision tab appear today or do you think it has been there since your MPH acceptance?

I definitely wouldn't worry about it mucking up your chances, it is a very reasonable question to ask them. Hopefully you hear some good news!

If this is their way of rejecting me from the MD program I will not be a happy camper

Did you receive a rejection last week during the wave? I’m assuming if you didn’t, then you are still in the running. No explicit rejection is always a good sign, one way or another.. Like someone mentioned MD and MPH are two diff. ADCOMs.
