I know some people have scholarships. I don't know where or why they got it. We only talk about finances when we are complaining about debt. I don't think Downstate has a huge financial aid budget, but I chose Downstate because it was my cheapest option. I had a ton of need-based aid from my undergrad, but no med school gave me money.Do you know of anyone who was able to find a scholarship? Is there any type of financial support available? What other things besides research can you do to up your CV?
I would recommend doing research if you want to do something competitive. Research also helps for top programs in less competitive fields. If you don't want to do research, do whatever you like to do and do it well. Have some passion you could talk about. It could be anything
