Pessimism time: What if the Alt. list hasn’t been established yet cuz DS over-accepted more than normal and movement isn’t as fast cuz of this? 🙁

What y’all think?

I'd say you're definitely overthinking it as across the board there was very little activity on Friday.

What I will say is I dont think the AL will be how it was last year, where a lot of people were put on it and then taken off it. Since we are now after traffic day and no AL was made we should still expect an A wave sometime this week, and then probably a subsequent AL thatll have less movement than usual since all those As will have been directly given.

Hahaha, can’t help it lol. So seems like the next A wave will probably be quite large.

Best of luck!! hopefully it’s beginning of the week

So since we made it passed the april deadline, we can expect either As or WL right? or do you think Rs are still on the table (mainly because I thought i knew what was going on but cycles tend to be very different).

I think they are done with Rs. Why save that email? No point.. if they had more Rs they’d send em out by now

Off topic question to any med students lurking on this thread.
I am in desperate need of a new laptop. I know that I will definitely be getting a mac (please no arguments on that, I have my reasons).
However, I’m still stuck between whether I should get an air or a pro.
I asked people before and got very mixed responses so I figured I’d ask again. I will definitely get the 256 gig but beyond that, I don’t know which is better. Can anyone with a Mac for med give me some advice?

I've been using both air and pro. I like them both. I think an air looks really chic (also more color options) and cheaper though. For my purposes (MS office, reading the news, watching Netflix), I don't notice a difference between the two models. I personally would go for an air because of the way it looks and the price point. Hope it helps.

PS: I am not a medical student.

Depends if you think you'll really need the additional processing power of a Pro, which comes at a pretty hefty cost. I have a pro but regularly use it for things like video editing and audio software, if you're not doing those types of things the Air should work fine

I have been using an Air for the past 5 years and its amazing. Never had any glitchy problems. I have always appreciated the weight because with carrying books around and with a laptop its just so bulky and heavy. During my masters and hospital volunteering, I had to leave my dorm in the morning and came back really late at night so I was out the whole day and had to carry so much in my bag with me (food, scrubs, and books). Having an air made my bag much much lighter. Also I have other mac devices so my laptop communicates with my phone and ipad- I can do airdrop for files, answer calls, texts, and facetime on it without reaching for my phone in my bag which made me more productive since I learned to use my phone less. I didn't need the pro processing power because I dont make videos or have a ton of large files. 10/10 would recommend.

PS- also not a med student but did a heavy masters with a LOT of online modules (that require a fast comp), files and lectures so I was always studying on my laptop. (Used OneNote for notes that also worked perfectly on the Air)

PPS- My cousin is a med student and has the pro and she complains about the weight often. I don't think she used the full power of her laptop either during school because it was not needed unless you have a lot of media/photoshop/film editing software. Also she got the pro in 2016 and it has a different charger than the other macs? So she can never borrow other people's charger. Not sure why. Just food for thought.

Seconded. I don't use a MacBook, but looking at the specs the Pro would be a waste of money if you're mainly using it for notes, lectures, internet browsing, your occasional medical app. That plus the form factor of the Air, it'll be much more comfortable to lug around from place to place.

Hmm my portal changed to include information about alternates so sounds like they have it made. Hope y'all hear back soon!

I wouldn't worry about the red mark, it's part of the secondary which needs to be complete for you to be invited for an interview, so it shouldn't impact you in their system or anything if that's what you're worried about.
Everyone’s just getting paranoid now. I’m sure we are all noticing things in the portal that were there the whole time, we just didn’t pay attention to them

Im going crazy! I’m on 3 waitlists with no acceptances and they are all playing mind games! I just want some looove (especially from downstate)!!
Should i start the process of reapplying now?
Hopefully the schools answer to you in a timely manner. I would not start reapplying just yet. I submitted my apps past August and I did just fine w interviewing. You can start thinking a new strategy if anything. I truly hope you don't have to go thru this drilling process again. Keep your head up.
