Oh for me to be very specific I think it would be a time between now and midnight of any day in the future. What are time are we banking on? 7 pm... 9 pm... 10 pm... 12 am... any time at all lol
Honestly sounds about right lolOh for me to be very specific I think it would be a time between now and midnight of any day in the future.
This process has been really good for me in that it has given me the energy to unsubscribe from all the spam newsletters I get. Need to reduce the amount of e-mail notifications I get before my heart just stops completely![]()
Has anybody here been accepted and planning on attending Downstate for a MD/MPH? I'm from CA and kinda freaking out about if classes for MPH will be online or if I need to start preparing to move. I've e-mailed both the admission and the school of public health with no answer. Anyone have any insight?
Thank you so much! My email seems borked oh my.I emailed, MPH courses are online
What are the chances of MD classes being online? I really hope low...
Same, especially with all the early clinical experiences that is a lot of Downstate's appeal. It would suck to miss out on some of that.
Of course, Downstate has to do what's best for us, the city, their patients, etc., I just hope the crisis here improves enough by Aug/Sept to allow us to engage in those activities.
Yea exactly. Even beyond clinical experiences just starting med, having a white coat ceremony, etc
Really hope that doesn’t get taken from students
That being said, obviously our health and health system is most important

Just some random idea: With the increasing accessibility of covid-19 testing esp. antibody testing perhaps they can take intiative to do rountine testing for students and place us in non-covid units(if and when it begins to ease up). Just a thought, testing can be monthly or based off of symptoms
Yea I’m in a similar situation as many students where my last semester of college was cut short as was any sense of closure due to the corona virus. It would be really sad if it ended up stealing my last college semester AND my first med school semester. Obviously at the end of the day I know I’m very lucky and people have much worse struggles right now but it would be really unfortunateYeah it's sad to think it's a possibility we wont get to meet our fellow classmates in-person right off the bat, celebrate with them, etc. And as you said, there are certainly bigger issues at play here, but on a personal level would just suck.
They just say your app is still under review. I don’t think there’s a particular timeline for this cyclehas anyone sent an email asking about an update since traffic day?
Ahhh so the automated thing everyone gets, understandable. thank youThey just say your app is still under review. I don’t think there’s a particular timeline for this cycle
Everyone’s itching to hear back. I’m a little surprised that none of the frequent commenters on this thread have heard anything yetAhhh so the automated thing everyone gets, understandable. thank you

Optimism for the win!I've got a good feeling about tomorrow!

i totally agree, whoever has been getting accepted is not really on SDN... maybe a sign for us to take a break haha.Everyone’s itching to hear back. I’m a little surprised that none of the frequent commenters on this thread have heard anything yet
Looks like there were a handful of acceptances on 4/29 and on Sunday 5/3. Last year looked like a huge amount on same day, for what thats worth.
So did the post traffic day acceptances subtly pass us by, or is the wave yet to come? Thoughts? Any estimates for how seats they tend to offer to their 'alt' list?
I'd say we should still expect a wave, whether it'll be as large as say last years who knows, but I imagine we'll see at least handful of people report receiving an acceptance. Movement, in general, has been slow across the board at schools compared to last year. I don't think we've gotten our "traffic day wave" yet.
Also, April 30th is AMCAS' PTE deadline but that doesn't necessarily mean Downstate has withdrawn students who haven't PTE'd yet. I believe Downstate's final day to deposit and secure one's seat for most of those accepted before April 30th is today or yesterday. Those students will be officially withdrawn, which should hopefully follow with some movement on our end.
So there's chance for today!May 6th at noon is their deadline to accept and send deposit, otherwise they’ll be removed from the active list of acceptances
So there's chance for today!
I hope you know that you are our CLASS PRESIDENT. Please keep up the positivity.View attachment 305374
me everyday so far
If they start reviewing who is still committed today they should hopefully have a far more concrete idea of how much of their class is filled, and if we're lucky they'll have the system send out more invites by tonight. Got my fingers crossed!

You won't believe how many people we hear talk about helping the "diverse patient population" as student interviewers... I just want to say, I loved your comment and Downstate could really use people like you (not saying anything negative about the previous comments). Not calling anyone a terrible person just highlighting a perspective that comes from immense privilege. To find the very neighborhood of your medical school (and by extention the neighborhood of the "diverse patient population" I know many people gassed up in their essays) to be unpalatable to live in is a marker of a very privelegded upbringing. Combine this with the user's comments about "crackheads", which I guarantee is code for "Black man with untreated mental illness" (and I doubt he saw multiple people lighting up a crack pipe on the street, so big yikes on this stereotype), and combine it with their mention of the "homeboys" lighting up a "doobie" on the subway (which is so regular in a big city that it's even telling that they remembered it at all), and it's clear that this user has a huge level of inherent biases regarding Black people and the neighborhoods they live in. This is why NYC and Brooklyn residents get priority admissions, because they have to attend school with peers that have nonsense biases like this while already being exponentially more appropriate communicators with the patients that Downstate serves.
It would be v nice todayLet's see some As today guys and girls!
Did you guys upload letters of intent to their portal or email them? I only uploaded it to their portal and wondering if I should do both now

It’s difficult to say tbh. People this cycle have gotten results at 9 am, at noon, at 5, 9, 10, 12 lol I’m sure other times too. Moral of this comment is it could come any timeHows everyone holdin' up. My sleep cycle has completely flipped as I accepted the fact that there won't be much movement during the day lol

It’s not a race, it’s a marathon! It's just so frustrating to think on one side I am hopeful that the acceptances WILL come (with sitting on 2WL and who knows what will it be from Downstate). But then again turn my head to check over things I need to prepare for possible reapplication, which means I am accepting the fact that I won't get in anywhere, which is already my second time applying smh.
The stress and mental breakdown are real every night and day.
NO COLUMBIA!! I DO NOT WANT TO STUDY BIOETHICS AT YOUR SCHOOL AND PREPARE FOR MEDICAL SCHOOL!!
