2019-2020 SUNY - Downstate

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Im crazy so I counted how many people got AL last cycle it was ~35 and of those ~15 got As. Some dropped the AL and some dropped the As.
Thats around 43% accepted off the AL that was reported on SDN.

This cycle so far has been ~50 AL. Will we see the same trend this cycle? Maybe...43% seems nice, but who knows because of recent changes (STEP 1 being P/F, applicants wanting to be close to home b/c of the pandemic) the rate may become higher!

I’m sure we’ll begin to see movement in 1-2wks or **maybe** even this week! Crossing my fingers and toes for everyone!!

Also, for those who will be withdrawing their As or declining/withdrawing their AL invites, PLEASE let the thread know. It really really brings our hopes up, haha! So far, ya’ll have been great with this, let’s keep it up!!

Happy Sunday!!

I second these sentiments! It's very possible that the non-AL people getting the As are part of a predetermined "X acceptances" that DS is trying to give. Its possible that means they havent factored in withdrawls that have occured recently, or even withdrawals from traffic day.

Hopefully they finish making the AL soon and a lot of us get good news in the upcoming week.

I have my fingers crossed for the lots of you with early CTE dates! I know yall are sweating right now

I totally agree, it really does bring hopes up to know we have a closer chance and lifts spirits. SO far today from what's been reported i think ~16 people got AL today, so that would push the 31 to 47. just to make an update

The 31 includes today too!

When are the earlier CTE dates? That would definitely be a tough decision

oh wow really? I had seen someone post the stats so far on this thread and they said there was 31 AL a few days ago... confusing haha

No you’re right! I forgot that there were 3days of ALs, thought there was only 2. I counted only the first wave and todays!

So yea ~50 for this cycle..

Thanks!

So there’s a higher number of estimated WL this cycle?

I am still confused about the timeline of this cycle. It makes sense to have a full class as of early April as the AL letter indicates.
However now we are well into early-mid May.. and I doubt the class is full. If it actually is RIP..

The timeline of this cycle got thrown off heavily by the corona virus and downstate becoming a corona only facility. There’s really no real timeline for the rest of the cycle as I’m sure the admissions committee is scrambling to get decisions out just as every other med school is rn

never posted, but i was part of the AL wave last thursday-- just wanted to notify to help with the stat-keeping 🙂 congrats to all those accepted today, and hoping for good news for the rest of us over the next few weeks!

Anyone else keep their interview day folder around as a good luck charm? 😛
