I just checked my admission decision - alternate tab and I did see a black dot filled in for accepting the alternate list yesterday..Now I am not sure why its gone now 🙁

Yeah but several people got accepted off the AL today before the Pre matric list was even posted. I don’t think it’s required for alternates right now. Probably a good idea to start looking at it though

Yeah, just not sure to what extent the healthcare forms should be filled out. Setting up appointments with PCP and getting these forms costs us some money too haha.

Also for Model release..does this matter whether or not we give permission or not. I am getting paranoid

They'll probably be emailing those on the AL instructions on what to do. That's what they did last year, at least.

Im going to wait for an email about instructions for us AL but if I don't get one today, I'll start doing the basic forms that can easily be done online in the pre-mat checklist tomorrow. I'll probs wait for a week before I do anything like health forms and citizenship forms etc.

Hi guys, long time lurker here! Just wanted to say, I love the positivity on this page with the intermittent sprinkle of tension.

I was placed on the WL yesterday 😢 . The only form I saw reasonable to fill out at this time is the Technical Standards page, as it clearly says "Alternates & Accepts to the College of Medicine (Only):" at the bottom. If you guys see any other forms that could be filled out before we wait for instructions, please let me know haha.

Also, congrats to all the As!! Excited for you all.

For the prematric checklist, where do we send the required documents? Also, for the BLS certification is it safe to go to an in-person class or is there online courses being offered? I seen a site called NationalCPRFoundation, but don’t know if it’s legit?

Do it through the AHA or something. You can find an instructor on their website I believe

This is a valid point. There STEP1 was always higher than the national avg. the avg for this yrs match was 237 when the national was 230. That is amazing.. I am not sure about their Step2 scores btw..

Anyways, sure brand name will matter more once step1 becomes p/f. But there are way more residency spots than brand name schools (Ex: the top 20 schools won’t have students that ALL want to do a competitive specialty)

Also, Downstate is renowned in providing NYS with the most trained doctors due to its class size. In addition to this and previous success in matching, I’m sure NY hospitals are well aware of Downstate’s capabilities regardless of scores. That holds true if you want to match in NYS/NYC

Yea, we can buff up our app with research and I’m sure getting involved is easy (if a current student can comment on research that’d be great).

We also gotta KILL Step2 tho hahaha
