Agreed, their yield will probably be very low compared to number of applicants.
(Disclaimer: this next paragraph is not at all a bash on applicants)
Given that the application/secondary is free I assume a lot of people who did not match or get OOS acceptances will be applying as a last resort option. I think just in Texas alone there’s ~4000 applicants who don’t matriculate. I bet a lot of them will throw their hat in, and I don’t see anyway the school interviews anymore than ~300 applicants. That’s around a 2-3% yield depending on total applicants
It's speculation, but I don't think they'll be sending "most of the interview invites this week". That's way too much frontloaded work in the first week. They'll probably do it in bunches knowing they don't need to give much heads up notice those last few interviews for anyone actually wanting to attend them and get a spot. It's 3 hours drive max for the vast majority of their applicants and anyone they offer will go if given a weeks' advance notice, which would be the shortest interval in my opinion.Thinking they will be sending most the interview invited this week if they plan on doing all the interviews through March and April. Good luck everyone who applied, amazing opportunity at this school.
You are probably correct, but it sucks for those of us who are OOS and have to fly. I will gladly spend the money for airfare for a golden opportunity such as thisIt's speculation, but I don't think they'll be sending "most of the interview invites this week". If they told you not to, I wouldn’t. Think about how many apps they are having to review in a short amount of time. They are likely swamped and don’t want new information coming in as well to sort through.Has anyone come to a decision on whether or not they will be sending an update letter? When I emailed the adcom they said they will not be able to accept letters. I was still thinking of uploading one via the document upload just in case, but I don’t want it to come off in a bad light.
I will not send an update letter. The first reason being that I filled in a TMDSAS section with planned activities (I forgot if that was a standalone section or subsection within another). The second reason being that I don’t see a few months of work (from the time TMDSAS was due until now), being as significant as it may be now, as changing my application and influencing the decision of the admissions committee to offer me an I teeview, substantially. The third reason being simply that yeah, I don’t want to run the risk of annoying them and coming off in a bad light. They only have a few weeks to make everything happen. I think they’d rather deal with what they have already. Sure, you can upload a document on the secondary portal, but I don’t know if it’ll be read.Has anyone come to a decision on whether or not they will be sending an update letter? that's honestly less than I thought there would be thoughWent to a lecture today that Dr. Spann was speaking at and he said there are currently going through 1800 applications!
Do you think there were only 1800 applicants?Went to a lecture today that Dr. Spann was speaking at and he said there are currently going through 1800 applications!
I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up with 3,000 or close to it.Went to a lecture today that Dr. Spann was speaking at and he said there are currently going through 1800 applications!

Send TMDSAS a message and see if you can send them the score. Then it will be in your app.Do you think they really won't take 2020 MCAT scores? I just retook and did substantially better. I wish they would consider it since they became accredited so late

Your score must be what was on your "active" TMDSAS 2019-2020 application, which closed for submission in October 2019. Therefore, no scores from 2020.Do you think they really won't take 2020 MCAT scores? I just retook and did substantially better. I wish they would consider it since they became accredited so late
A late (recent) MCAT score would be the equivalent of updated course grades, transcripts, etc. Congratulations on the improved score, but it would be unfair to have it factored into this cycle's application given everyone else's are from prior to the cycle deadline. As @wysdoc said though, finding a way to mention it in an interview if invited would be a great update!Do you think they really won't take 2020 MCAT scores? TMDSAS lets you update your grades and transcripts though... At least I did at the end of the semester and they updated my grades on my app to reflect that. I wonder how they look at MCAT scores. Is it only the last score, do they look at the highest score, or do they look at all the subscores

Except Houston I guess? Since our app didn't get transmitted to them until last week??I believe most schools look at all subscores that are within their permissible time window (but that's not to say taking the test twice and scoring similar results is going to resonate any better than just 1 set of scores). If there is improvement between attempts, that is selling point as well. Substantially lower subscores may be red flags, even if additional attempts yield higher overall scores.
But Fall 2019 grades are finalized before 2020 MCAT attempts. Even then, it is my understanding is that you can update TMDSAS with those Fall 2019 grades, but they've already transmitted your application to schools by October 15th at the latest. Your GPA remains the same, and subjectively a school's reviewer might look at your updated transcripts if you have them. (I might be totally wrong about this).

When’s that deadline?I’m wondering if they might wait until they close the primary app to send out interview invites.
March 6th, I cant say for sure if that’s what they’re doing, but they might have a “probably interview” pile and they’re just waiting to see everyone’s appWhen’s that deadline?
I would be surprised if they waited until the deadline to send interviews, considering they’re on a tight schedule. If invites do go out after the 6th, it’s more likely that it took that long to get through apps and not because they were waiting to evaluate everyone before sending them out. But all of this is speculation, of course.March 6th, I cant say for sure if that’s what they’re doing, but they might have a “probably interview” pile and they’re just waiting to see everyone’s app
Yeah, but they just copy pasta'd whatever your application was at the time it was transmitted to other schools (at least that's my understanding). They don't go re-verify any new grades, recalculate your GPA, then re-transmit a new application for you.
An email will clue you in for a secondaryDid anyone find out if there is a screen for the secondary or is it an auto-invite?
being hopeful that they somehow preset emails lolUH closed early Thursday and won’t be open today. Looks like we won’t hear anything this week
Yeah there was some big water pipe accident in Houston and a lot of facilities and schools are closed rn, hopefully it gets fixed soon and doesn’t roll over to next weekUH closed early Thursday and won’t be open today. Looks like we won’t hear anything this week
The water line supplied/supplies 50% of Houston, I'm pretty confident it's already been repaired!Yeah there was some big water pipe accident in Houston and a lot of facilities and schools are closed rn, hopefully it gets fixed soon and doesn’t roll over to next week
Well it also flooded a lot of the roads and people houses so I’m not really sure but yeah it’s a big deal so I’m sure they r working super quickly to get that fixed. I know my little siblings are happy that their schools got canceled today hahahaThe water line supplied/supplies 50% of Houston, I'm pretty confident it's already been repaired!
