2019-2020 University of Pennsylvania

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A first-year told me that one of the courses they are taking is a complete a disaster, and that there are some major trust issues with administration with a real lack of communication. Anyone else pick up on this, or was this just someone having a bad day?

Losing hope in getting an II from this amazing place. That is all.

But to those who already have one, congrats and best of luck to you all
Dude, do whatever you need to cope with this random and soul-crushing process, but there's plenty of IIs still going out, and likely another wave after the new year:

Where did you get this beautiful information? And where can I find more of it?? 😍

when you submitted your photo for the interview tab, did it say "This page is submitted?" For some reason, after I uploaded my photo and hit submit, the photo appears there, but the submit button does not go away, and I do not have that read message at the top.

Mr. McCringleberry, may I ask when you received your interview invite and when your app was complete?

Just interviewed, Honestly loved the school. Interestingly, it felt alot like Hopkins to me. They definitely seem to offer a little bit of everything, although I wish they had some rural med resources.

you know people from schools are reading these things right. I would delete.. 🙂

I mean I said I loved the school....which I do lol. It was a great experience, students were very kind. I was just mentioning something I noticed. My interviewer actually agreed with me that rural med is an area they need some more exposure for....and said I could make an interest group should I come! I fully plan on trying to work on that should I go there. My other interviewer agreed it's an important area so...

I don't believe saying that a school could add to its interest groups or optional rotation sites is a negative. If anything a school should want comments to improve on itself. Again, loved the school and area. As someone that has a partial interest in at least *learning* more about rural, this is just something I notice. If I am lucky and blessed enough to have the opprotunity to attend, I'd likely work with faculty to close the lack! Otherwise, Penn has everything (which is no big surprise to anyone I am sure haha)

Do we really think that people are looking at sdn and figuring out who you are and making admissions decisions based on that? I can imagine someone casually keeping an eye on the forum to see what people think of the school, but making real decisions? Unlikely. For instance you could be lying on here! I could make an account with the stats of my worst enemy and then the day after they interview I could be like “just interviewed yesterday, it was meh, probably wouldn’t go here if accepted”

Exactly. If anything, maybe a faculty will see it and be like, "oh. Maybe we should think about adding it as an interest group!". That is my hope or goal anyways!

Everyone knows U_raptor, the person with 29 interview invites!

MSTP people who have interviewed- how soon in advance did you get your list of research faculty interviewers? Did you get a list in advance at all?

If you'd like to participate in this poll, please vote here.

Probably too early in thesfprocess or such a survey.

I haven’t looked at last year’s thread, do we know when they typically stop offering IIs?

I was wondering if someone wouldn’t mind commenting on their interview day here? I’m more so curious how the faculty and student interviews were structured. Did they feel conversational? This thread has been so quiet so any insight would be appreciated!

And happy New Year, future docs! Our year is here!
It was extremely conversational for me. More so than my others. They did have "standard questions" but they didn't feel structured in a strict sense.

The day was great for me, and you get the opportunity to see how they do some of their curriculum activities, such as ultrasound classes or standard patients.

I loved it!

Does anyone know if this interview is open or closed? Also were the faculty nice? Starting to get nervous about my interview. Thanks!! Happy New Year!

Mine were open, and both of my interviewers were EXTREMELY nice!!! It was a very enjoyable day, and you get to see some cool things like students doing ultrasounds!
