2019-2020 Wayne State

This may be purely anecdotal; however, it seems Wayne State is extremely forgiving of those who performed poorly in undergrad and succeeded in post-baccs. I had an undergrad sGPA of 2.96 and a cGPA of 2.76 (basically a death sentence without a post-bacc), but worked my butt off and received a 4.0 at University of Michigan's Physiology post-bacc and received an II on 11/7! I'm also OOS and URM with only average extracurriculars. There is still hope for those who haven't heard anything yet. You guys got this!

I have the exact same story, except my sGPA was worse lol. Ultimately got waitlisted here, but Wayne State is definitely a school that rewards reinvention!

Congrats! When was your app complete?

A ridiculous amount of people seem to be getting waitlisted this year right off the bat. I guess it makes sense because they claim to be a nonrolling admission school, so that they wait to see all their best applicants. Too many people seem to have gotten waitlisted from EDP in particular, which is quite the anomaly.

Maybe it's got something to do with the new stuff AMCAS is doing?

You must’ve rocked the mcat though...

Kinda comforting that everyone’s getting slapped with a WL tbh:welcome: #TheMoreTheMerrier?

Might as well be my twin with that story and scores (I think my extracurricular is above average tho) haha. Good job! gluck at your interview hope to see you there.

Can confirm this. Spoke with the admissions director last year (Wayne State is local to my SMP school) and they really give you a fair chance if you show genuine improvement, especially with an SMP or post-bacc. Stay positive!!

9/20 OOS interviewee awaiting a post-interview decision here, I called the admissions office yesterday and they said there is no timeframe after an interview they have for a decision, it could be a day after the interview or the the day classes start. They said they are receptive to updates as long as they are sent into the portal. Also congrats sucroseguardian!

Congrats to those accepted! Does this mean those of us who interviewed at or before 11/1 are waitlisted?

I submitted my secondary on Oct 15 and just got an interview today. You still have a chance.
MCAT 511 and Gpa 3.79 no clue the breakdown :/
congrats! prior to your iI did your application status say anything other than "Your application is ready"?

Does anyone know when applicants can expect being pulled from the waitlist? I was waitlisted Septemeber 26. For a school that is notorious for accepting many students from the waitlist, I'm surprised that no one has been accpeted form the wait list yet but there have been many acceptances!

Congrats to all those accepted but I would LOVE to be your classmates next year haha!!
If I remember correctly, the Director of Admissions said around April 15th to May, the "waitlist frenzy" begins (he compared it to draft day) because that's when people start turning down their WSU offer

Do not assume anything. Wayne is actually very transparent when it comes to post-II decisions. It may take a while, some people wait upwards of two months, but it will come. Also, the length of time it takes for you to get your results back is not indicative of whether or not you've been accepted. I interviewed 11/16 last year, some people heard back they were accepted/WL w/in a week (like me) and some heard back the week before christmas they were accepted/WL (my cousin).

With regards to the WL movement, it could happen at any time, but only a handful of people will get off it before march/april. Also, as a heads up, most students who interview after the new year are just automatically WL b/c Wayne is so far behind with their admissions decisions that it's easier to WL everyone for the time being and take care of the existing applications. Come march/april/may, it's really those applicants who get off the WL at those times, then June/July is when earlier interviewers get off. I was taken off 2 weeks before class started and there is someone in our class who was taken off the day of orientation (July 15th) so really it's in your best interests to wait it out, there is no silent rejections, no silent WL, wayne will communicate everything to you (the only downside is the waiting period)

Hope that clears some stuff up

I think we might get some more decisions on Monday. Earlier in the thread, some people got their decisions on Oct 17 (a Thursday) and others on Oct 21 (a Monday). It seems that everyone that posted here yesterday got an A, which might mean a lot of WL's may be coming on Monday. We'll see.

69 LM and 510 MCAT. I have a 4.0 in my post bacc. Do you think I have a chance considering they have sent out a lot of interviews already?
