I've heard the same numbers and find it hard to believe. Wayne supposedly interviews near 1,500 applicants, which would mean >1,000 acceptances for ~290 seats if it were 70%. This would violate the rule of thumb that schools offer about 2 to 3 acceptances per seat in the class. If they followed this rule instead, the post interview acceptance rate would be about 58%, or 870 acceptances.

Your are looking at old MSAR data from 2 cycles ago. Last cycle Wayne began interviewing 1000-1200 apps and are planning on doing so again this cycle rather than the 853ish I think 2 cycles ago. This will also change the number of As sent out and the %. MSAR will update in March I think
I hadn’t considered the number of IIs that turn into actual interviews, but that might be the missing link if 70% is accurate. The number that really blows my mind is 77% for OOS post interview. As an OOS who interviewed, I’ll feel pretty bad if I don’t get in lol

Honestly EDP isn’t for everyone but don’t discount it all together. For some applicants it can be of significant benefit to apply through EDP. Just keep in mind that it is a holistic process. Don’t slack on your app and references. It makes a huge difference. I wouldn’t say med school admission is purely a numbers game, more so a very unpredictable process. I applied to 13 schools last year right at the beginning of the cycle and didn’t get a single II. This year I applied EDP to Wayne and got in. Obvs some things in my app changed significantly but I also feel that in my circumstances EDP benefited me by forcing my app to be looked at and given a response to. Also Wayne was not only the school that I wanted to go to most but also the one that was the best fit for my circumstances. Also if your app isn’t good enough to be considered for RD you won’t get in via EDP. Just to summarize, meet the min academic requirements for EDP and spend a lot of time on writing a quality app, get good references and practice for the interview and EDP will likely do you good
I've looked a little bit for apartments but don't really know what to look for... was hoping to talk to a current student for recommendations. I wanna find potential roommates but no fb group which sucks. Also, I talked to admissions and they said they don't have second look info and told me that its only for a select # of accepted students and those students will receive information in the mail
Oh thanks for responding! Thats strange that it’s only for selected students, I was hoping to gain more info at second look. I was looking into apartments today but yeah it’s difficult when you’re not sure who you’ll want to live with.
This is last year's stats- 286 oos and 286 Is. I think they interviewed less people last year though ( around 1300).

Hmm that is interesting about the parking. I'm not sure why they would have said that. So per semester it is 220 and it will allow you access to 2 lots. The structure near the med school is never full, at least 3 levels are empty every day. Maybe this person lives on campus and the lot they park in near their house fills up?
yeah so this making me think i shouldve just interviewed later as that would technically improve my chances for movement off the WL. NGL not sure how this one works out chief
I'm a fellow applicant myself so am unsure of the whole process, but what I think that person meant is that some of people who are waitlisted after interviewing into the new year would have been accepted if the adcom had ample time to review the application. I think putting them on the waitlist just buys more time to review the app, but then again that's just my guess

I recall something like this being discussed last year. Basically adcoms ran out of time to actually review apps right away so automatically put everybody on the WL who interviewed after a certain date

I just think its more amplified with Wayne because of the volume of applicants they interview, but I think all schools have this problem to an extent
