2020-2021 Creighton

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats to all of those that got an acceptance!

I interview this week. How long should it take after the Friday wrap up meeting to hear about a decision? Did they tell yall 2-3 weeks?

On the acceptance email it said to not use Chrome to try to pay the $100 deposit, so maybe that's causing the problem?

Also, I'm having trouble even figuring out where to go to pay the deposit lol, all this is confusing. Where are you guys navigating to on the NEST website?

A major red flag could be anything from having scripted answers to being poor at holding a conversation. With things being virtual, body language and other components we would normally be able to pick up on are not going to be available. So I think in general from what I have gathered is that people are finding it more difficult to find said 'red flags'. This is nice for those who might have them since we can't pick up on them, while it is also harder this year for candidates to set themselves apart.

I've tried on edge and chrome browsers and it popped up both times, and yeah it is hard to find. It is forth from the bottom when you sign into NEST.

Ah, I see! Thanks haha I don't know how I missed that

I also received the "invalid code" error messages after trying to pay my deposit

I got the invalid code message too...has anyone been able to work around this or should I give them a call tomorrow?

congrats to everyone that got accepted!! Did you guys get your preferred campus?

Just had my interview, a pleasant albeit quick experience! Faculty one was very traditional, the student was more conversational. Interviewed for Phoenix and hoping for good news soon.

Have those that have been accepted received info on which campus they've been assigned? Or was it a more general "you're admitted, wait and see" kind of thing?

I was admitted and received my preferred campus. Don't hold me to this but I think they're making all admissions decisions w/o regard for campus preference at this time.

I'm pretty sure everybody has gotten their campus of choice so far. They don't look at it until after decisions are made, and they'll then assign you your campus of choice as long as its not already full.

Is there a FB group for accepted students or does that usually come later in the cycle?

interview in a week! anyone have any advice?
Just relax and have fun! It's genuinely a good and fun interview. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with the interviewers.

Edit for real advice: Just be confident in yourself and your experiences because they genuinely want to know about you as a person and what you enjoy doing/what your passions are.

Ditto the first response to be yourself!! On a practical note, I think the prep that has helped me a lot (in addition to doing mock interviews) was to have well thought out answers to 1. Tell me about yourself 2. Why medicine (obviously) 3. strengths and weaknesses 4. why Creighton 5. why should we pick you/what do you bring to Creighton. If you can get comfortable answering those questions, I think that's the perfect base to have. For everything else, just be thoughtful and honest. If you get thrown a question from left field, don't get flustered!! remain calm and answer genuinely, even if you need to ask for a moment to think about it. I recommend watching something that will make you laugh beforehand to lighten your mood. Try to channel any nervous energy into excitement and passion for medicine!

Out of curiosity, for those accepted, what campus will you be going to (Omaha v.s. Phoenix)? Could you give some reasoning on why you chose that specific campus?

For those going to Phoenix, are you concerned at all with the campus being brand new?

I picked Omaha. It kinda weirded me out that there will be no M2s at the Phoenix campus. I liked that the Omaha campus was established and had worked out all the kinks. Plus, Omaha is closer to home. I think Phoenix seems like a great option if you want to stay in that area, but those reasons pushed me towards the Omaha campus.

did anyone who got accepted get a confirmation email after making the deposit and filling out the acceptance form on the portal? it says that we will get a confirmation email once all the requirements for acceptance are verified but i never got one. wondering if i missed something to confirm my acceptance- do we just have to make the deposit and do the online acceptance form?
