2020-2021 Georgetown

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
A few hours after my interview, I received an email notifying me of an option to upload thank you notes under the "Interview" tab in the portal
How was the interview in general? Reading previous threads and the interview feedback page, it seems like it's a pretty calm and conversational straightforward interview. Would you say that was the same feeling you got?

Yes, all of the questions were pretty straightforward, no odd or curveball questions!

for anyone who interviewed this week: is the 8-10 weeks until a decision is made still hold for this cycle? also, how many "rounds" of interviews are there?

I think so. That same timeline was in the post-interview note they sent out. Not sure about the rounds

For the main essay, did anyone else have a PDF revert back to a Word doc once uploaded? Could have sworn I uploaded the PDF version, but when I click "View uploaded document" the Word doc version opens. A little worried about this because it says they want PDFs only...

Does anyone know what time zone the virtual presentation is? I just got a reminder email that says 10:45am-1pm but I’m not certain if they’ve adjusted it for me in Pacific time or if it’s still eastern...

I submitted 09/02. Under documents, it says my committee letter was received 08/11 but my status says that LoR have not been submitted....
Do I just need to wait a little longer or should I contact them?

Just found out it's eastern! 🙁

just saw on gtown's website that they don't count hospital volunteering as clinical lol... what did those who got interviews/other applicants do for clinical? i honestly did not want to scribe...
I talked about my experiences shadowing and still emphasized patient exposure I got while volunteering.

@AyyJay @goodgollymolly @NordicTrekker

My app still says incomplete due to the recommendations not being received. Have any of your statuses changed? Thinking about emailing.

Mine still says LOR haven't been received even though they're right there in the portal. I'm guessing since I only submitted yesterday they might need a few days to update the app and put my file together?

When did you submit vs when your LOR were received?

I submitted my secondary and sent my letters of LOR via AMCAS on 8/23

Anyone who's already had their interview have any tips? I'm under the impression that it's mostly conversational but was also led to believe that they ask a standard 7-8 questions (why med? why us? clinical/research experiences etc).

Is anyone able to confirm whether interviewers have a list of questions that they are required to ask? Thanks!

How long until an interview was received after the “under review status”?

Is "under review" the default, or does that mean you are actually under review at that time... I have seen that statement mean different things at different schools

having a hard time on my why Georgetown essays and wanna make sure im going in the right direction, any current Georgetown students or anyone down to PM so I can run by my ideas quick?

Can someone who has done the virtual presentation explain how it was? Am I going to be on mute the whole time just listening? Mine is next week and any info would be amazing thank you!

Basically yeah. Several presentations throughout the day, including a student panel. You can unmute and ask questions at the end if you want. Everyone’s on camera the whole time though

Does anyone know if it's just one interview or two interviews? If one, would it be a one on one, or two on one? And any way we can find out who would be interviewing us prior to the interview, you know for some background context? Thanks

Hey guys! Does anyone know how the zoom info sessions work? Are there a ton of people or is it a smaller group of students? And do students keep their cameras on? Sorry for the neuroticism.. Georgetown is my top choice and I want to be prepared

I think that someone said above that people keep their cameras on, wearing suits. Not sure re the size of the group!

It's just one interview and it's one on one with either a faculty or 4th year. I personally had a 4th year and the interview was very low stress and a bit more casual than I thought it would be. Definitely no oddball questions or anything like that! And no, I don't think you know who your interviewer is beforehand or if there is a way to find out. I found out their name about 2 minutes before I was added to the zoom call.

My interviewer's name was in the portal for at least a week before the actual interview. not sure if that was an error on their end or not, but i definitely knew who was going to be interviewing me ahead of time.

Oh wow lol I didn't know that. I didn't check my portal again until after my interview. Thanks for correcting me!

@BYC_ Sorry I was wrong. You can find out their name beforehand!

Where in the portal did it say the name of the interviewer?

under the Interview tab there’s an NDA you need to sign before interviewing, once you do that the interviewer’s name pops up

Does Georgetown have a list of standard questions they are required to ask their interviewees? Does anyone know what type of questions they are?

Nothing popped out for me too. I asked Britney, and she said it was no problem, that they were currently having a glitch in the AMP system, hence our zoom based interviews.

Complete July 30, 3.90/ 522. Haven’t heard anything— have I been likely rejected?
complete 7/14 and I don't think 2 months of silence is indicative of a rejection tbh. its a long cycle and even slower than usual this year

I know this was asked multiple times throughout the thread, but will Georgetown consider my hospital volunteering as clinical if I did activites that matched the description of ‘clinical’? Or will they flat out say no because it was from hospital? Lol, the fact that I’m asking this question makes me a bit pissed at the school

Does anyone know if the interview is one-on-one or MMI or something? I can't seem to find any information on that. Thanks for the help!
