2020-2021 Georgetown

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those who have already interviewed, are y'all emailing your individual interviewer directly or only uploading a thank you note through the Georgetown portal as the email after the interview says?

*Edit: As soon as I posted it, I checked out what the Acknowledgements tab says, so I guess I know the answer to my question. But if anyone wants to offer their suggestions, that's cool too.

Whats the point of trying to have quick secondary turnaround times if applications are being reviewed in random order? Anyone else feel this way lol
I remember a post on sdn from awhile back of someone asking, and some of the adcoms had noted that different schools did it differently, but it’s a tier system where they put you on a ranking, then send out 20 IIs a week (or whatever frequency they choose) from the top of that list. Applying early means you have more chances at being in that interview area

when do you guys think the next wave of Georgetown II will come?

*realizes it’s been 2 months since evaluations started*

Anyone wanna bet $5.00 that a wave of Rs will hit before IIs?

Yes, definitely feel that. And frankly if I felt less pressure to turn them around rapidly I probably would have caught a couple typos. That said, to be honest, I'm glad I finished them quickly rather than letting that dreadful process drag on longer.

More seriously, there are some schools (the rolling ones, specifically) where it does make a difference. BU explicitly stated they review apps in the order in which they receive them. Michigan is ruthless in that they've said they feel no obligation to wait the cycle out and see who applies. As soon as they put together a class of high-quality applicants, they're done.

To those who received II this morning: congrats!! Just wondering, did any of you have hospital volunteering as clinical experience, or did you guys have other significant clinical experiences other than hospital?

Didn't receive II this morning but w/in the past few weeks -- I didn't have any hospital volunteering (or any clinical "volunteering" for that matter) but had a significant amount of paid clinical experience in addition to non-clinical volunteering.

Received II awhile back but i had both hospital volunteering and paid clinical work

I did have clinical hospital volunteering but I also have a ton of clinical service in community health centers in AmeriCorps

Congrats, do you mind sharing stats?
Thanks, sure my LM = 69. I do have a very substantial amount of research hours, 1 publication, and several presentations at conferences. I hope this answers your question.

I only listed hospital volunteering for my clinical experiences.

Hi there! I had about ~300 hrs of hospital volunteering (which I did in undergrad), and about 6,000 hrs paid clinical work.

That's incredible stats!! Did you take a couple gap years? How did you accumulate so many paid clinical hours?
Haha, yes, I've been working as a clinical researcher at a local children's hospital for the past 2 years 🙂 Awesome experience, lots of direct patient contact, and my PI is really pushing for me to go to med school, so he's also set up additional shadowing and hands-on clinical experiences for me as well to supplement my work.

Hey, for those of you who have already had your IIs, could you describe how they were? I know that some of you commented about it but I can't find them in the thread. Thanks!
Most people said there's were chill and conversational but tbh mine was kinda tough. My interviewer definitely pressed me with some hard questions (around 10). It was also conversational though and enjoyable at times. I'd say it was like 60% Question/answer and 40% conversational. It went for about 50 minutes which I think is longer than usual (I don't know if that's a good thing?). But yeah.. prep as much as you can and do your best. There's nothing else you can do!

Guys, was the "under review" next to -application complete- always there in the notes section of our status? Trying to figure out if anything is changing.....

IKR?! I wish they would just tell me though. I was telling my friends the other day that post-interview feeling is like sending a risky text to a crush and waiting to hear back. You'll either be really happy or heartbroken at the end. This reminded me of that lmao, sorry if this was a weird message

Sounds about right. I'm just praying the read my application, but reality is they get so many that mine will probably never get read!

Forever wishing the Georgetown was similar to other schools where they track how many interviews have been scheduled and we can gauge where they are at in the cycle 🙁
I didn't know schools did that (besides Michigan)! Do the majority of them do that? And where do they list that info?

I thought info sessions were on the Monday of the week of your interview???? Am I wrong?
