2020-2021 Illinois

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Could someone who got the email share what this is all about?
you can dm me if you want more info but i deleted my post bc its irrelevant probably and i have a reason for that but i wont be posting in this thread. thank you for understanding

Why does it say that my application is incomplete? I submitted all my stuff some time ago and all the required docs are in (also reflected on the portal).

Got an interview! So when they say there will be series of MMIs and then a one-on-one interview, does that mean the MMIs will be done in a group? Also, any tips you guys have for preparing for the MMIs; is it true they're like CASPer?

did you just get the II like right now?

can anyone tell me how the post-ii rate is for OOS? not sure if the couple of years past is reflective. it seems like its 65%+ which is a good sign. also for the interviews, if u designate it at one of the locations are u implying you want to go to that specific location?

Congrats on the interview! I think the MMIs are done in 7 stations, each station being 5 minutes each. So I do not think it is done in a group, but maybe someone who has interviewed can give more info on that. Also do you mind sharing when you were complete?

They bring you into breakout rooms for the one on one MMIs come together after each one and then rinse and repeat.

does anyone know how long the one on one interview is? and is vita part of the score to land an Accept? cheers

The one on one is 20-30 minutes long. Since they require that the VITA is done prior to the actual interview, I'm assuming they consider it (but hoping that they don't put too much weight on it!)

Ask them! They reply to emails quickly and are very nice people.

Do you receive an email prompting you to do the VITA or do you just do that prior to any communication with schools? I have yet to hear back from any MD schools about an interview, but I didn't do VITA so I am wondering if that is why.

you receive an email released every Thursday. You have to be invited to do VITA by a school before you can do a VITA.

I was complete August 20. I submitted early, but a LOR was sent really late, which held me back.

So are the MMIs in groups? I'm sorry for any inconvenience; what you're saying is a little unclear to me.

I have been attending virtual information sessions every month. In the October one, they said that the November session would be the start of a curriculum series. I never received an email to sign up for the November session and cannot find a link on their website. Has anyone else had success with this?

For those interviewed, do you guys think we might hear back with decisions end of this week, because I think something like this was mentioned in the closing remarks of interview day.

They said that they would let us know by Thursday or Friday so I am hoping like mad that we will hear.

This application cycle has been really good to me. Just got an II from UIC. So freaking excited! OOS (International)... My complete date is weird, for international students we have to upload I-20/visa info. I thought I had completed my app on 08/26 only to find out a month later that my app was not complete. So my actual complete data after sending the visa stuff is 09/28. So I wasn't expecting anything from them for a while. But I'm glad it worked out!!!

I hope hope hope pray that we will hear today about acceptances! They said on my interview day they would have them out today or tmrw so I’m anxiously checking my portal every hour and have my phone on for every alert lol.

you got this! best of luck

Does it matter where you schedule your interview for campus wise? Aka if I wanted to go to Chicago campus can I only schedule the interview for the Chicago labeled days?

No, it doesn't matter which campus you interview at! You will get an overview of each branch on interview day, and when you are accepted you get to rank which campus you would want to attend!

Did anyone who interviewed after mid-September catch when we could expect to hear back? I thought the person said we wouldn't hear back in October because they only meet every third Thursday of each month, and my interview was after that third Thursday. But maybe I heard them wrong?

From their website: "Students will be asked to rank their top two campuses when they accept the offer for admission. Factors considered for campus assignment are in alignment with the specific mission of each campus and include, but are not limited to, where the student interviewed and the content of the application. The college makes every effort to assign admitted students to their first choice of campus; however, it is not always possible."

Same here haha I do not usually come on SDN for my sanity but it got to me today. Looks like nothing has come out yet?

I submitted my app super early (still in July) and I have not heard anything back, not even an interview. Is my app DOA?
Im in the same boat, I think there is still plenty of time for us to hear back. They interview through February. Can anyone who recently received an II tell us when they are scheduling interviews for?

Nothing reported by anyone today that I can see. I did however receive my interview invite back in August at 10 pm at night so I wouldn’t be surprised if they sent them later tonight but Dr. Amiri had said for those of us that interviewed early September that they would have an answer by august 15th or the Friday afterwards so here is hoping that they send them out tomorrow.

Still nothing so far today regarding acceptances, guess they fell behind, which of course is understandable because of Covid. It is disappointing to have to continue to wait but patience is a virtue and a sign of a good future doctor is what I keep telling myself!

That and I’m exercising till I can’t move to keep my mind from racing and helping me get proper sleep so I don’t stay up from anxiety.

has this school been sending II? I hear crickets in this thread

Got a "delayed decision" at noon. Interviewed on 9/23.
I think it's almost equal to a post-interview rejection because UICOM accepts most applicants post-interview.

What time zone are you? I think there is still hope though... does that mean they'll review your application at a future board meeting? Was this communication through email?

I live in Chicago. They sent an email and updated the portal, saying they will review my app in future subcommittee meetings. But I think the chance is marginal. I guess they have already made all decisions for interviews before October and will send out very soon.

Where in the portal is it? I need to check mine. Did you see the update before you saw the communication?
