2020-2021 Michigan State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
also got the pre-II R, no IIs yet and first rejection so pretty bummed 🙁

So much is going on right now and self care is so important. Take a bit of time today to relax. I feel for you
Remember this is a long process and you’re more than all of this. I know it’s hard, but don’t let it define your self worth

Sharing because I hope that this makes at least one person laugh.

I had my interviews today, and feedback from my student interviewer is gonna say that I called MSU Wayne State three times. Feedback from faculty is gonna say that I called MSU Umich one time. Apparently, I'm on the verge of some mental break because I couldn't get it right 🤣 but I wanted to say that both the student and faculty were extremely nice. Very casual interview day, good luck to everyone interviewing soon!

This just made my day hahaha. We're all having mental breakdowns at this point.

If you don't mind me asking, what type of questions did they ask during the interview? Were any of the questions MMI-styled? Thank you so much and I really hope you get accepted despite what happened.

It was the most casual interview I've had BY FAR. I think the most important thing is to be able to articulate why you want to go there and definitely how you fit in with their mission. Especially how your prior experiences fit with their mission as well. Also, the student interview was traditional questions and the faculty was MMI/ethic style. I wish you the best of luck! Practice saying MSU in the mirror a few times 😉

Does anyone know how many spots remain? I am finally complete. I know it's a longshot but I do want to hold onto some hope.

"Your file is being prepared for presentation to the Committee on Admissions. The committee strives to make a final decision on each candidate's application in a timely manner. The CHM application process is specifically designed so that the time an application is reviewed for a final decision is not a factor in the decision. Seats in the entering class remain available through the end of the application cycle"

I can't speak much to how this works in terms of II's, but there are seats throughout the entire cycle! Good luck!

hey, does anyone know the mcat range considered for recommendation into the ABLE program?

Did anyone who interviewed before 10/21 NOT hear back about an acceptance/waitlist? That was the last day decisions were sent out, so I'm curious

I interviewed 10/5 and no one I know who interviewed that day (including myself) has heard back! I'm not even sure they're reviewing in order, honestly.

Interviewed 11/9. I was super nervous and anxious leading up to the interview, to the point where I only got 3-4 hours of sleep the night before, and I have to say that I couldn’t have had a better interview experience. As soon as it began I immediately felt relaxed. Both of my interviewers were extremely chill and kind and were very receptive. Loved the whole experience. It felt more like a casual talk than it did an interview.

Seconded, I barely slept the night before. Interviewed today 11/10 and had a great time. Structured MMI was definitely not as stressful as I thought and I think anyone applying to med school will already be well prepared to answer the questions. Had some tech difficulties but the student interview was very relaxed and conversational!

So I just got a call from a Lansing # and it was MSU COM letting me know I was accepted, though I already got the email acceptance 5 days ago ... I got so excited only to be let down lol
