2020-2021 Michigan State

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I have an interview next Friday and I would like to know more about modified MMI. Can you guys give a little bit more information about it?
A faculty member will interview you on questions/situations that are similar to when you are in a traditional MMI. they do not have access to your file and will only talk with you about the questions.
advice:
only talk about the positives of your apps
do not talk about negatives
rely on your experiences to answer MMI style questions
i had paper and pen and brainstormed for about 1 minute. kinda awkward but its okay to ask for some time to think about the scenario
Major props on getting an interview! The school thinks you may be a good fit for the program! Know why you are choosing medicine, answer all the questions asked and smile!!! 🙂
is there any way we could know which faculty member is interviewing us beforehand or no?
Not that i am aware of. I only saw the student interviewer name on the interview tab in the portal
good luck!

Not the one who initially asked but thanks for taking the time to answer so thoroughly 😍

I'm sorry to hear about this. If you don't mind me asking when were you complete, residency, and stats?

completed early September, MCAT 509, GPA 3.97, a ton of volunteer, research, extracurricular activities. out of state.

Oh mannnn!!! you have such great stats!
I know they are really looking for students that fit and connect with their mission. I am sure there are programs that will look at your app and be impressed!
BEST OF LUCK!!!

If they're getting back to people in the order of their completion date, my R is for sure in the mail for next week lol
They aren't heard both ends of the spectrum getting rejections I submitted early August and haven't heard a thing stay hopeful

If you do contact them could you let us know on here? I’m also wondering!
Of course!
I plan on calling tomorrow! Just general questions and some ways I can pay for school

EDIT: I might have to call on Monday bc i have a lot of work tomorrow :/ but i will let yall know when I can

Is being an alumni of MSU advantageous when it comes to II? Does anyone have info on this?

Hi guys, I decided to add this school. I’m working on the secondary and I’m having trouble with this question: 1. The College of Human Medicine offers students an innovative learning environment. What experiences have you had that have prepared you to succeed in our curriculum? How will you approach any challenges you may face? (300 words)
For those of you who got a interview, how did you approach this question?
Thank you

Anyone think they will give people calls of acceptance tomorrow? (Because it's a Tuesday)

Interviewed 10/7
Got the call today! Accepted
OOS not the best stats but greatclinical and some research experiences with pubs
Congrats!! That's so exciting. Can I ask what your stats were? I'm in a similar position and haven't gotten an II yet

My app was forwarded for review on 9/1. They said it takes a month or more. Is it worth calling the admissions office or asking for an update? I'm OOS with strong Michigan/ Lansing ties but lower end stats.
Strong emphasis on "or more". Forwarded for review on 7/20. Here I am. Chillin. :cold:

on secondary, anecdotal evidence was the best way to answer
Think of grit resilience patience

Anything beyond the secondary we can do at this stage to show our interest in MSU? Shame they don't accept updates

anyone else having this weird anxiety where on the one hand, you weren't in the first wave of rejections, so yay! But you also haven't gotten an II so....

ARGH!
I have a few friends feeling similarly right now. The wait is agonizing, but sometimes no news is a good news! Hoping you get some good news soon.

I know that they meet on Tuesdays ... I wonder if any decisions will go out today :scared:

Pre-II rejection today. OOS. Forwarded for review 8/28. First one so far! Best of luck to those still hoping.

Hi guys!

I have the preinterview next week and I was wondering if anyone could share what it was like? my interview is the week after that as well if you guys could share any tips it would be great! this is the only interview I've gotten so far so I want to do well!

Thank you!!

is it worth mentioning to MSU that I have a family of alumni? If so, where would it be appropriate to mention?
