Yeah, I knew everyone that's complete gets them, but since I had everything including LORs and Casper in by 7/20, but didn't receive an actual complete email until this morning, I figured that meant I am now in a much smaller line to get reviewed. But judging from your experience, I still have a while to go. When did you receive your "complete" email?
When I spoke with them they said it was currently taking them 4-6 weeks to mark applications as complete. They ended up going and marking mine as complete then and there, so it seems like they are just moving slower with everything overall and I'm guessing decisions will also proceed at a slow pace. I am thinking many schools will be much slower and less predictable and consistent with the process this year as they also are working through changes to how their institutions are operating

I wouldn't take this person's case as when you should expect a complete email. I submitted 8/7 and still nothing. Some people who submitted in July are still waiting as well.

Definitely not. It seems like I'm the exception here. This probably means they aren't marking applications as complete in a chronological order? Kinda weird since I'm pretty sure NYMC doesn't prescreen

MS-3 student leader at this school. I would love to answer any questions from anyone about the pre-clinical years!!! I can't say I know everything completely up to to date, but I do know a lot of current MS-2s and MS-1s that I can ask about your questions!
Hello,

What is the lowest MCAT score NYMC considers? Did anyone in your cohort have a <504.

I am ORM with a lower MCAT, normal gpa, and service year with a program like Teach For America.

Not sure if it’s worth applying?

I can’t say that I know the answer to that question. Nobody really shares their MCAT scores and the ones that do are the people who did exquisitely well.

I know that if you post your stats on the What are my chances forums that you’ll be able to get some more advice as to where you can apply and what parts of your application can potentially be improved to make you more competitive, but I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.

Submitted my secondary 7/18 and still haven't received a complete email. Not sure why it takes so long 🙁

Hi, I think that you have a great chance at MD schools with your unique factor of TFA. I think that you should maybe focus on MCAT and retake it. I believe that you can get into a great medical school and not even really worry too much about if schools would accept you as <504.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Received secondary right after AMCAS submission. Won't be verified for a couple weeks at the rate AMCAS is being processed. Any benefit to submitting NYMC secondary now even before my AMCAS is verified?

You may as well get your foot in the door?

Submit it now. I was marked as complete shortly after being verified. I submitted the secondary 4 weeks prior to verification and was marked complete with the ppl who submitted their secondary at the same time I submitted my secondary while they had been verified. Also, there's no secondary. So no reason not to submit now.

did anyone not have significant impact from covid? I dont know what to do considering that prompt is not optional.

There was no significant impact to any aspect of my application from Covid. I personally just mentioned that I had to pause some of my extracurricular activities and left it at that. I wasn’t aware it was optional, perhaps they changed it to be optional.

if it had no significant impact on you then leave it blank

Haha, no it is not optional, that's why I didn't know what to do!

I am just going to say I had to stop my research and my campus activities were suspended like everyone else.

Oops my bad lol just completely missed the word “not”. But that’s a fine response. If they’re expecting you to write something then just write what happened ya know. I think they realize that not everyone was impacted to the same degree

Do all science pre reqs need to be completed before applying? I have everything besides physics 2 that I am going to be taking this coming spring.

Is anyone who submitted the secondary in July still waiting for a complete email? I'm not sure if I should email them to follow up. I'm IS, but I'm not sure how relevant that is

My app was verified the first week in August and I still haven’t received a secondary from NYMC. Should I email them or do they send some out later?

I just wrote how COVID impacted me (basically how I couldn't volunteer anymore) in a matter-of-fact way. Even if COVID had 0 impact, you could just say that.

Hi all! I'm an MS1 at NYMC. Feel free to ask any questions you like, via PM or otherwise 🙂

Thanks for your time! This might be subjective, but im wondering if you felt that your fitness for study and work in the new york/metro area were an important part of your interview/acceptance? Also, did you feel that certain clinical experiences were valued more than others by your interviewer(s)?
I ask because NYMC is private but draws in a disproportionate number of NY-based matriculants. I feel very drawn to NYMC because i work in an inpatient role at WMC, but the pretty non-existent secondary app made it hard to see what they specifically value in applicants, and hard to discuss my valhalla ties.

Just got my complete email, submitted 8/29!

Kind of frustrated. I received an email saying that they require specific science faculty for the letters of recommendation and a math professor will not suffice. I knew this and I also had a letter from a biochemistry professor and an immunology/cell biology professors. I returned the email and they said to call. I have been calling for the past week with no luck. ugh

Huh I got the same email. I replied and explained myself and my letters, then they replied back within two hours and said thanks and that my app was complete. Maybe different people do the replying

Yeah they said I didn’t have a grad school letter and within 2 hours of emailing Jamie we got it figured out. That was yesterday and today I’m complete

This is highly aggravating that they are dragging me around. Like just reject me if you dont want me lol.

They didn't take a math professor? Really? Well... guess that'll be my second rejection ugh

nope, and then told meI needed a letter from a health sciences professor since that’s what my degree is. So even though my letter writers were:
1. A biochem professor
2. An immunology/ cell biology professor

I have to find a professor from a class who has a course of HSA .

GUYz I really want to go to this schooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool +pity+

I had to email Jamie for a letter waiver since I didn't have the UG major LoR. Does anyone know how important that letter is?

II +1. IS 3.97 516 Scheduled for 10/1 (Anyone else?)

9/17 and 9/24 dates were gone in less than 5 minutes.
Yes! I scheduled for the same date. I didn't even see the 9/17 date at all. Guess I was just a little too slow.
