2020-2021 TCU & UNTHSC

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I've seen schools provide this information in other posts. Definitely wouldn't ask for anyone to break the rules, so thanks for bringing this to my attention.

A few schools, which will remain nameless, asked me to sign an NDA. If you come across this, just make sure you be careful! Would hate for you to get sued by the school because of an honest mistake/willingness to help fellow applicants.

Best of luck! 👍

For the interview does it consist of both MMI stations and a one-on-one interview?

Too late to submit secondary? Received it early September but two full-time jobs have really limited the time I could dedicate to writing. Will submit regardless- just would like to know how negatively I will be affected by this timeline. Heard mixed opinions given COVID & whatnot, especially since schools are each at a unique place in their review process.

It is pretty late, but there's still the saying, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take! " Since this is one you'd be done with in an hour, I'd say go for it!

Does anyone know how long the panel takes the following monday? trying to take time off but not sure how long it goes

Not very long -- maybe 90 minutes. There's really no obligation to stay for the whole time. They're very understanding, so if you could only take off a limited amount of time, they'd surely work with you. It was mostly a Q&A session + time to talk to the Diversity & Inclusion folks.

When is the last date this school intends to interview? Was complete early August and feeling like I've been passed up at this point.

I don’t recall the exact dates off the top of my head, but our school added 2 extra interview dates this year and I believe we will be interviewing throughout April.

Do they accept updates? I've had some pretty big changes since submitting my secondary

My fellow 10/26 friends, we should hear back sometime (maybe late) today, right?

Just got continued consideration - anyone know if they're receptive to LOIs/demonstrated interest? Definitely my top choice and fell in love with it at my interview

Do you guys remember the dates that the admissions committee meet? Was the next one 2 weeks from now?

for the student mixer what is the dress code?
If you had your mixer today then good luck at your interview tomorrow you guys are going to do great! I loved getting to talk to you guys. If not then the dress code is casual! The mixer is purely a time where the interviewees get to ask us questions. We aren’t secretly taking notes to give to the admissions committee or anything like that so no ones judging what you’re wearing. I was rocking some shorts and a t-shirt.

For the interview day, does anyone know what the "Creating the Empathetic Scholar" portion is? Is it another interview or just an informative portion?

Thanks!

for anybody who has interviewed the MMI way, which interview way do you like better? MMI or one on one?

I preferred MMI. For me, it was a better opportunity to explain myself as a potential future physician but it is important to mention I also really enjoyed the CASPER test. I think it just depends on your communication style. I also liked that I didn't know any questions beforehand (ex. you can expect Tell me about yourself, why medicine, why X school in traditional) and had to think on the spot and rationalize my answers. One thing I didn't expect was having to adjust to the affects of the (many) raters in MMI. Some were very cheery and it was more conversational while others were stoic and never smiled.
