Did you get an II for regular admissions as well?
I was put on an interview hold in December, but received an II for PRIME-HEq today. Is that normal? Why invite for PRIME if I'm not even considered for regular admissions first.
So UCSD's Prime is not like UCLA's. You can be accepted into their regular program if you aren't accepted into Prime. (From what I have learned by asking someone who designed the Prime grant for UCSD). You wouldn't receive two IIs from this school.

Thanks for confirming.
for the folks getting II, were you guys put on hold prior or was it silent? Trying to figure out if theyre still giving II to the silent pile
I was on hold for regular admission in December, and then I was invited for interview today for the PRIME program. I submitted my secondary towards the end of September.

I think hold email said they would reassess hold apps in mid Feb... guess they intend to interview into March

Yo! I have an interview here soon! Any advice?

Almost feel like its a done deal for me because my MCAT is <10% matriculants. So whoever was kind enough to extend me an interview invite while MCAT blind it won't be the same for an acceptance 🙁
I actually don't think they are using MCAT scores for admissions decisions. It sounds like they just require you to HAVE one, but are masking them from review. Their website doesn't say anything specific about MCAT/post II decisions.....here's hoping😅

  • We will accept applications from individuals who have been unable to take the MCAT due to COVID-related test cancellations. For these candidates, we will base secondary application decisions on the information that is available to us at the time of the application.
  • For all applicants, we will make decisions regarding interviews without consideration of the MCAT score, and will mask the MCAT scores of applicants who do have them from review.
  • Understanding that despite good-faith efforts, various factors have made it difficult or even impossible for applicants to take the MCAT in 2020, we will accept MCAT scores from dates as late the end of January 2021. Assuming that MCAT score reporting for January 2021 exams is completed as scheduled in February, we will require applicants to have taken the MCAT before we make admissions decisions for the entering class of 2021.
  • We may decide to consider an applicant for an admission decision without an MCAT, on a case-by-case basis, if they were prevented from taking it due to an insurmountable barrier or extenuating circumstance despite a good-faith effort, exclusively per our determination. We will vet applicants in this position for an admissions decision without an MCAT only after they have completed an interview, and not beforehand.
  • If an applicant was able to sit for an MCAT exam but feels their MCAT performance or ability to take the MCAT was significantly adversely affected by a pandemic-related issue, we will allow a short statement describing that hardship or adversity to be appended to their secondary application.

I was not that great at CARS, but reading this leads me to believe that it's something they consider for most people lol

Does anyone from the 1/12 interview cohort remember when we would hear back?

I faintly remember admissions talking about how they pull from the waitlist based on the current class composition... Does this mean I should give up my hopes as a pretty much cookie-cutter ORM applicant? 🙁

Also good luck to everyone whos waiting on decisions this week!

Wait is that what they said? lol rip

Hold for II just now. My stats are way lower than their averages so I was fully expecting an R.

Hold for II as well. LM 77.5, OOS. Have they given out pre-II Rs or just holds and II?
The email did say "The Committee initially makes one of three decisions. Applicants may be invited for an interview, placed on “hold” for an interview, or receive no further consideration for an interview" so I would imagine at least some Rs have been given out

put on pre-II hold as well :/

Since they don't accept updates is there anything else we can do to potentially get an interview?

Pre-II hold earlier. Kind of a bummer to start the work day since this would've been the dream, but trying to stay as positive and hopeful as everyone else in this boat 🙂 Congratulations to all who've received interviews and been accepted, and good luck for all of us in moving forward! Godspeed, future docs

Everyone on hold today, you’ve been very patient for your status change. Even if it wasn’t what you wanted, you need some good old fashion pick me up. Go get your favorite food. (Don’t be Iike me and do it every time, I am now a whale because I get milkshakes) however, today you deserve it!

Wow they held everyone today LOL I'm also on hold, from SD but been OOS since college. My stats are much lower than their average tho: 3.75, 516 I was hoping that my work with different underserved groups would shine through but alas

I’ve been placed on hold...
