Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this question, but I'm interested in the PRIME-HEq program and I'm not sure if on AMCAS I should select regular MD or Combined Medical Degree/Graduate with the type of masters I'm interested in. Does anybody know this answer to this?

i know the secondary says not to repeat the personal statement, but is it okay to mention stuff we talked about in our PS at all?

Sure. My essay was slightly more compressed because the MSTP prompt had an extra component, but what I did was briefly restate relevant events from my PS in a few sentences when I got to the college portion of my autobiography. I think a little more than that would be fine, maybe a paragraph max.

I have the same question, did you ever figure this out?

There's a spot on the 2ndary to indicate interest in PRIME Heq. I believe I just checked regular MD on the primary, and I'll just fill out the PRIME stuff here, that's what I'm gonna do!

Are you all verified? (secondary receivers) and when were you verified?

Thank you!!!

They probably don’t prescreen this year right? Asking for a friend

If I apply to PRIME-Heq, am I also considered separately for the normal MD admissions? Or would applying PRIME hurt my chances at normal MD?

Was wondering the same thing. I did some research and it seems like they are considered separately and that you can get into the MD program while still being rejected from the PRIME-Heq, but dont quote me on that.

Yes, you're correct! I emailed and they said if you're rejected from PRIME, you still have a shot at the regular MD program.

Secondary received. Here are the relevant prompts @TheDataKing :

AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
This should be a true autobiographical statement. Topics to be included are family, childhood, primary and secondary school years, undergraduate years, and, if applicable, what you’ve done since completing your bachelor’s degree. You should also discuss the motivational factors which led you to a career in medicine, including any disadvantages or obstacles which might put your accomplishments into context. A repeat of your AMCAS statement will not be acceptable. (6000 chars)

EXPERIENCES
The three experiences you identified as "most meaningful" on your AMCAS Application are listed below.

We would also like to know if you have had any NEW experiences that you would consider among your "most meaningful" (i.e. experiences you've had in the time between submitting your application to AMCAS and working on the secondary application).

Adding new experiences is optional. You can add new activities using the fields below. A corresponding letter of recommendation for the new experience is not required. Please enter "N/A" in the "Author of corresponding letter of recommendation" field if you do not have a letter. If you do not have any new activities to add, you can simply click "Save and Continue" at the bottom of the page and this section of the application will be marked as complete. (100 chars)

Possible Career Pathway

Some medical school applicants are already focused on pursuing a particular career pathway in medicine. While many students will change from this pathway during medical school, knowing of your potential interests does help us to assign interviewers. Your choice below does not influencehow the Admissions Committee selects students to interview.
Please select from one of career pathways listed below. In addition to this selection, please provide a brief description of your future career goals: (400 chars)

Academic Medicine (Working as a faculty member at a School of Medicine either as a clinician, a clinician-educator, or a clinician investigator. This could be in any field of medicine)
Primary Care and/or work in underserved communities (Working as a general internist, a pediatrician, or a family medicine physician and/or spending the majority of your time working in a community currently underserved by the medical profession)
Public Health, administrative leadership in medicine (Pursuing an MPH and/or working for a public health department or organization; working in health care policy; working as a hospital administrator)
Specialist in private practice (Working in a private practice or managed care setting as a subspecialist. Examples include cardiologist, infectious disease specialist, obstetrician, orthopedic surgeon, general surgeon, anaesthesiologist, radiologist)
Other/undecided

Im just wondering how holistic it could be when they *just* got the apps today?

I'm pretty sure UCSD sends secondaries automatically for applicants above a stats threshold, and then holistically reviews individual applicants. Think I read that multiple places.

(Secondary received, IS CA ORM)

Any ideas on what this stats threshold is?

Is there any current UCSD med student who is a part of the PRIME program? I'd love to hear more about how it's specifically integrated into your 4-year curriculum. Same question for any students who are in the dual-degree program?

Maybe the send in waves too? LizzyM 82/ OOS (although heavy ties to CA) and haven't received it yet.

is putting decline to answer on sexual orientation looked at negatively? I've always heard that you should never decline to answer in apps but I'm really not vibing with disclosing this to the adcom.

I also chose to not disclose just because I'm personally not sure what my sexual orientation is lmao, but now I regret it.. i should've just chosen one and gone with it fml but I already submitted.
hmm ya really think it's that bad to not disclose? also good job on that turnaround lol, I just started brainstorming my sketch rip

Question on the autobiographical sketch. I'm wondering how people went around "discussing the motivational factors which led you to a career in medicine" without repeating their personal statement. Did you guys just repeat the information in a different way or did you find complete different motivational factors. I'm a bit lost and don't want to repeat my PS, but at the same time I don't want to skip the "why medicine" from my PS entirely in my autobiography.

I talked about the same motivation factors but either fleshed out specific anecdotes that I could only allude to on my PS or approached them from a different angle using new anecdotes.

Was wondering if anyone would like to trade the autobiographical sketch. I don't know if I fully discussed the "why medicine" part.

In the second secondary prompt are they asking if between the primary and now we have another meaningful experience we would've listed as our top 3? Or is it giving us a chance to expand on an experience that we might have done more for in that time?

Anyone not receive their secondary yet? Wondering if this is in waves or I got screened out somehow ?

I want to mention something in my Secondary just in passing because I already go into it in depth in my PS... does anyone know if this would be fine or would I have to give the whole background story again?

Application complete for MSTP OOS! Email said to expect news of an interview, 'on-hold' placement, or rejection in 2-6 weeks

I lied and put heterosexual on another app. Technically, I don't condone lying but also my sexual orientation has zero to do with my capabilities as a physician.

Do you have any idea if they ever accept you into both regular and PRIME? I guess my question is by applying to PRIME right now (if I'm lucky enough to get in ofc) would I be committing to it? I'm super interested in the program but would definitely want to do some more research if that's the case

Are there any current students that can speak about the dual degree program for a MD/Masters in Leadership of Health Care Organizations?
