II today as well! IS, LM ~71, file review complete in late November. When I go to schedule the interview there are no dates available. Should I email admissions or wait a bit to see if more are added? I know someone said they are probably only offering interviews when someone else drops their date, so maybe there will just be one offered later?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me a little more about the structure of the interview day? I know for afternoon interviewers you need to log on by 10:30 and the day can last up to 4-5 hours. Will there be breaks in there? Should I eat a very large breakfast? Thanks!

Would definitely eat a large breakfast. My interview group moved directly from the information session and virtual tour into the MMI - I was an afternoon interviewee, as well!

Haven’t received a thing since submitting my secondary. Any chance they are still interviewing after the wave of II yesterday?

can anyone speak to what the interview day was like, and what you saw of their culture/ brutally honest pros and cons of the school?

Culture: it’s a state school so lots of nova kids LOL. Pros: sexy hospital, Med school building is really nice, Richmond is cool - great medium sized town vibes and stuff to do. 1.5-2 hours from dC, an hour from virginiw beach maybe a little more.
Cons: accelerated curriculum that is really challenging, many friends struggled, but are feeling better now as m3 and m4

I received an email yesterday with the subject "Interview Invitation", and the email stated that a slot opened up for an interview but that it's available on a first response basis. I replied to the email right after receiving it and said that I would be available to interview, but I haven't heard back from them since. Has anybody had this happen to them?? I'm really confused as to whether or not I received an interview...

I know they send out those types of emails when a slot opens up. I received one recently as well. Have you checked your portal? When I checked my portal 5 minutes after responding I already had the interview scheduled on there. Hopefully you get this figured out soon!

Ouch just finished the interview! Pretty tough questions :S Good luck guys!

I got a portal status change inviting me for an interview a couple days ago but then there were no available dates listed. I called the admissions office and left a message and then I got an email this morning with a couple dates for me to choose from. I responded but there's no confirmation in my portal or anything yet. They must just be figuring things out as people individually drop their interview spots, at least that's my only explanation for all the different confusing experiences we're having 🙂

Do they seriously do this? Seems a little disorganized/random way of sending interviews

For those who have interviewed and sent updates to the admissions committee afterwards, how long were your updates? I get the sense that they should be extremely brief but I'm struggling to make mine shorter.

Can anyone who interviewed talk about the schedule for the day? How many hours should we expect to be on Zoom? (I'm an afternoon slot, trying to figure out my work schedule)

Literally the exact same thing happened to me, I was so confused. Didn’t get a portal status update until later that night and email information about an actual interview invite. Very confusing

Do people get their acceptance on the exact day of an acceptance date?

Correct me if I am wrong! After an interview, you will hear back (A) on an acceptance date (only March 1st is left as of now), or you will be passed (silence). I think you can get rejected on any date after the interview if you bomb it. By March 15th, the waitlist should be formed, and anyone whose committee score doesn't make the cutoff will be rejected, while anyone above will be waitlisted (previous years: 250 applicants; 40% of class accepted or about 80 applicants). After that point, you can get an A (get off of the waitlist) on any day.

Damn very well said

has anyone whose had a recent interview comment on if the acceptance date will still be march 1st or if it’s been pushed back? I interviewed early Feb and they had said it may get pushed back a week to March 8th but they were still deciding

I had an interview last week and they said, its going to be march 1st.

Do you know if that includes interviews from this week? I'm interviewing this Wednesday and it seems like a surprisingly quick turnaround if so! (I'll be asking at my interview too, so will update if they give a different date for us)

Well he said the people who interviewed this week where gonna be discussed this Monday with an update coming Wednesday.

Received a status update just saying the review of my application is complete? What does it even mean?

They review applicants really quickly at VCU, typically every Monday.

Thanks for the info!

And as a quick follow-up, I just checked the letter that came with the II and they said this about important dates: "We want to also let you know of important dates: offer dates for acceptance to VCU SOM are October 16, December 16, February 1, and March 1."

That’s really weird because I emailed to ask how long they were interviewing. They said mid March. So I wonder if those after March 1st, are WL spots...??

Good question, they do this every year. They just release the decisions seperately for those who interview after March 1.

My file's been under review since mid July, I'm getting the feeling I may be out here haha

I think they basically are giving interviews for spots that people have dropped at this point. I’m still waiting too haha

Best places for MS1’s to live in Richmond?
Edison, John Marshall, 8th and Main, and First National are common places if you want to live downtown.
The Locks and Cedar Broad are a little further away but still in walking distance. DM me if you want anymore info. I'm a current M1 here.

Got the "Review Complete" status just a few hours ago after having submitted my secondary around late August

Question for the vets here; If someone interviewed around the holidays and heard nothing back in Feb 1st (not even hold), should they assume it's a rejection?

What does being passed on mean for VCU?
💩

Just a heads-up, they said at my interview that they've added 4 additional dates after today! The last mass decision date is March 1, but like mentioned here before, that just means for interviews after March 1, decisions will just come out as they're made instead of in waves.

Hey I got an email from VCU med saying that they are pairing me with a student to answer my questions for the remainder of the cycle. Is this something that other people have received?
