Question for the vets here; If someone interviewed around the holidays and heard nothing back in Feb 1st (not even hold), should they assume it's a rejection?

What does being passed on mean for VCU?
💩
There is no hold notification, you either are accepted or here nothing. You were put on hold. You have one more date to hear March 1, then if you don't hear then you will either be rejected or put on the alternate list mid march. From there the waitlist is ranked. There is typically about 80-100 acceptances given and over 250 on the waitlist.... and caveat things change every cycle thats just how its done historically

What is the "hold for potential acceptance" everyone keeps talking about?

"Your interview is now complete! The Committee will now do a review of your application."

Yes, the withdrawal tab is still there!
I would contact the school you’re supposed to be voted on and it’s been over a month for you. Something went wrong.

Hey for current students, how hard is the curriculum? Seems like we dont get a winter break in M1 or M2.

Depends on the person. Depends on how well you want to do. If you want distinction (92%+), consistently 6-8hr study days with 10+ hours on the weekends. If you want to pass, much more chill. Not hard if you put in the work - I've gotten above 90% on all block exams by grinding every day (granted, I do about 10 hours of school per day I'd estimate).

In terms of break, we do have a winter break from December 20-ish to early Jan. It's basically the equivalent of a high school break.

Wow, 10 hours per day?!

II just now, seems like they needed to fill a slot on 3/4 and reached out on a first response gets it basis. Declined and also withdrew my app! Best of luck y'all.

Just a little context as an m1, at a different school with different curriculum work Probably half that many hours maybe even less than that and do well. Vcus curriculum is definitely more accelerated than others due to the 1.5 clinical years

Just got the update:

The Admissions Committee has met to discuss your file. Your application is being placed on hold for possible acceptance at a later date. We anticipate making offers around October 16, December 16, February 1, and March 1. If any of these dates fall on a weekend the offers will be made on the following Monday. An alternate list will be formulated in mid-March and will become active at that time.
Your profile will remain on hold until such time that you either receive an offer of admission or an invitation to be on the alternate list. Your application will no longer be under consideration if you do not receive an invitation to be on the alternate list.

Hoping for good news this coming Monday! Best of luck to everyone!

Yes, that includes about 3 hours-ish of lectures and 1 hour of random assignments/school related meetings. About 6 hours of solid studying (not counting breaks). But, like @Talldoctor96 said, part of that is VCU's curriculum, and part of that is my desire to get distinction. Pretty much everyone here works hard, but there are varying degrees of hard work based on natural ability and overall academic goals.

Thank you for the insight! Definitely need to start planning for school now

I'm going to send an update, as suggested but finding it hard to come across VCU-specific reasons for wanting to go there. All I see is their collaborative curriculum, which is fine to mention. Respectfully, what else is VCU known for that might be referenced as being in line with an applicant's values/strengths in an update letter? Thanks

In the post interview presentation they just emailed to me they changed the release date to March 2nd. Not sure if that’s a typo or if they pushed it back a day

Their review committee meets on Mondays I think so they may have pushed the date back to ensure they get through all decisions in this wave

Sorry if this was discussed above, but can anyone explain the interview day schedule? Their email going over interview was not super clear (or I might just be dumb lol) so I'm not sure how long the interview day lasts for "Afternoon Interviewers." TIA!

You log into the info session link at 10:30 AM where the program director will introduce the program and other details, followed by students presenting a campus tour. Around 1:00 PM they'll finish and ask you to move immediately to the interview link, where they'll introduce the MMI and logistics, then do the actual MMIs which take around 90 minutes, finishing up by 2:30 PM.

Does anyone know if there a page (Facebook, Linkedin, Instagram, etc.) for prospective M1s to meet? Or to even talk to other med school students in the program?

So does anyone known the actual date for decisions? Is it March 1st or 2nd? i’ve been preparing for it to be Monday and I don’t want to have to wait another day hahaha

They told me Monday! Also was anyone here contacted by outreach department to answer all your questions?

My portal was stuck on that without getting the hold message for a while after my interview, but it recently switched to the hold so give it some time

Thank you so much! So helpful

I just realized I never got the like post interview email w the survey thing... (interviewed early feb), anyone else?

So, just to be 100% clear, if I hear something today/get tabs that means I’m accepted. If I don’t hear anything, that means later on I will be either put on the waitlist or rejected, correct? Also, does anyone from previous acceptance days remember around what time they saw the tabs? Thank you!

Gotcha, thanks! Yeah I’m wondering if that could be just for them, considering the rest of everyone hadn’t been emailed with that change?? Idk. I guess we will find out lol.

Does anyone remember about what time decisions were sent out last month (2/1)? Still not sure if decisions for earlier interview dates will be sent out today or if they all got pushed back to tomorrow.
