2021-2022 Drexel

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
There are two interviews: a faculty interview, and a student group interview (with one or two fellow students). There may be additional presentations, but the interview day itself is pretty chill. I heard that one faculty interviewer is very hard but luckily for me I had low stress during my faculty interview.
I had the hard faculty interviewer...

+1 he was really tearing me down tbh. I was able to get through it since I prepped the SDN interview questions like crazy
I have to be a master of Health Care Policy to please him. It's insane. I am wondering if the committee realizes that and takes that into account or if they just have no clue.

I remember reading earlier posts in this thread about this interviewer purposefully being rude to "test" us but I just found it off-putting IMO.

100%. I just don't understand from an interviewer standpoint why being a jerk equates to "testing" someone. I did not feel tested, I felt like it was overly confrontational and unpleasant. Honestly, just reflects poorly on the school more than anything IMO. I wouldn't really want to be a student of this interviewer. I would be too afraid to ask questions about content.

Same I feel like I had them as well. Def left a bad taste in my mouth about the school lol
No funny, Im pretty sure i was his last interview of the day, cause he said he was tired of being crass and after picking at me for ~5 min, he dropped the act and we just talked about the NFC East, gardening, and jazz lol. Then he asked me some health policy questions and we called it a day.

My interview was actually kinda lit lol.
I guess I lucked tf out cause he was laughing the whole time (I am a Bears fan, so according to him I am used to disappointment)

Hey everybody, I have my interview approaching soon. Does anyone who's interviewed have tips or advice? I haven't done a student interview or open-file interview before...

Know your activities and why you want to go into Medicine.

That seems like vague advice but that’s really it.
You should be able to talk about yourself, your path to medicine, and what your path (activities included) taught you about yourself, the world, medicine, whatever.

You will be asked the standard questions, just in a roundabout way. Possibly in the context of your application

1. Why medicine (most important)
2. Why you
3. Why this school (also important)
4. Why not x healthcare career
5. Why not x other career that involves helping people
6. Tell us about yourself (be prepared to sell yourself)
7. Tell us about x weakness re: your application
8. Describe your most meaningful experience (the interviewer is testing your memory as well as the veracity of your application)
9. What would you do if you don't get in this year?

Just got put on the WL from being deferred. Interviewed early October deferred in November. Sad two WL no As time to start my ps over from scratch.
Keep your head up! Keep demonstrating interest in the school and you certainly have a good chance this cycle. Getting interviews at all is incredible!

Have ppl in 1/6 or 1/10 only got waitlisted? Is Drexel not offering As anymore to people who interviewed in Jan and after?

SEE spread

Well only 2 people from those dates reported getting decisions so it’s hard to tell from that sample size. But during my interview (2/17) they said they are still interviewing for acceptances.

In yesterday's interview they told us we'd hear in 4-5 weeks "at least", does that track with what earlier interviewees were told?

Yesterday was week 4 for me. We has seen decisions up to 1/10 now though, so I think they are moving a little bit faster perhaps.
