2022-2023 University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM)

Would ya'll say that it is too late to apply here ?? I'm a Texas Resident, ORM, have average/slightly below GPA for this school, have an above average MCAT for this school, and have experience (both as a patient and volunteer) with faith-based medicine. I didn't apply originally because I was overwhelmed with how many secondaries I had, but in hindsight I not regret not applying here :/

If you have your AACOMAS app submitted already you can add more schools easily. They usually interview into late spring

That's crazy to hear because this has been one of my favorite interview experiences so far. Was it just one interviewer that gave bad vibes? Maybe you caught them on an off day? Regardless, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with it!
Yeah it was just one interviewer but it put a sour taste in my mouth the rest of the day :/ Its all good though! Glad you had a good experience 🙂

@wysdoc not sure if this is relevant but I also posted that in Noorda if you want to edit that 😂

I know its been clarified on this thread that UIWSOM screens for secondaries, but has anyone been able to gain new insight as to how ? I received a secondary a couple hours after sending my primary to them 🤔. Grateful for the secondary ! Just curious what the look for.

When did you submit your primary? I submitted 9/9 but haven’t gotten a secondary.

Edit: Nvm sorry! scrolled up and saw your post from a few days ago.

PM me to join the (potential) UIWSOM Class of 2027 groupme.

I’m becoming jaded as my interview approaches. Should most traditional applicants with a sub 50th percentile MCAT just assume we’re interviewing for a waitlist spot?
no, I think this school is pretty early in its interview season so put your best self up there at your interview

OOS II!
Can anyone please share how their interview was and what I should do to prepare for it?

R!
II on 9/30
Secondary submitted 7/27

Honestly very devastated... Not sure where I went wrong... anyone going through this too feel free to dm me
I am sorry! If you are okay sharing, what day did you interview?

Hello everyone! I was wondering if adcom looks even more extensively into MCAT and GPA metrics when assessing the post-II decision. Thanks in advance 🙂

Good luck future docs!

has anyone been able to get in contact with the admissions team? I've been trying to get info from them for a scholarship application.

So I’ve been waiting on a secondary for sometime now. When I followed up a while back, they said I was in review. Anyone receive a pre-secondary rejection? Trying to determine if it’s worth checking in with admissions since I had the secondary pre-written

Exact same thing happened with me. I take it as they're interested, but need to see how many available seats they'll have around Dec. If they didn't want us, I think they would have just outright rejected us. Who knows...

This is a pretty generic answer but the guidance I've been given when I've asked this is basically your MCAT and GPA help get you to the interview, and from there it's a level playing field! I can probably serve as a testament to that, I was accepted with very mediocre stats lol

That’s how I’ve thought about it, but I’ve heard of schools reassessing the metrics before they offer admission so I was curious on what others thought. Thanks for the insight 🙏
