Genuine question- is Buff essentially done sending out "real" II's given that so many people were extended A's today and in general this first wave? I know (and loathe) that some schools will continue to send out II's with the idea that those applicants will pad their WL numbers just in case, so if by some miracle I receive a late cycle II I wanna know how realistic I can/should be with my expectations lol

I don’t think so. I know of somebody who applied last cycle and submitted the primary literally the last day it was accepted, interviewed end of February and got the A (not crazy high stats either). Keep in mind, not every person who gets the A will choose to go here. And when they start making final decisions, the university will know how many seats they have to fill. I think they’ll reevaluate after the holidays and see exactly how many more slots they still have, then go through more apps and send out more II waves if I had to guess.

What I was told is that (especially for state school who receive funding) school stats matter and within those calculated stats is how many students accept their position once accepted vs how many turn it down to go elsewhere. With that being said, the university wants to have good stats and desires students who they feel will accept their A. I think it is always a good time to send in a letter of intent, I sent multiple and I do feel that influenced them giving me the A. When I did get the II email, I sent an email thanking them and included in there that it was my top choice and why, along with stating I would go here if given the opportunity. I had a (small) update to my application (got an award so nothing too serious but I just wanted them to know I was serious about the school) so I emailed the update to them and again stated my intent to go here if granted acceptance. And that update I sent like 2 weeks ago which was after my interview, but I included that while it was after my interview, I wanted to give them all the information they needed when making final decisions because it is my top choice etc. I think it can never hurt and it doesn’t hurt to send multiple (assuming it’s not every day overboard lol)

I am surprised; I haven't heard anything from UB yet, not even an II. I am not sure if it is worth sending an update because I already have an A, but I am still surprised.

Thx for this. I think I also should have sent in a letter of intent before the decision today but I suppose I can always send one after the new year in hopes they will pull me off the WL.

Also does anyone know if UB sends post-II rejections? Or is it always just accept or WL after an ii

I didn’t send an LOI or any updates. Got the A. I don’t think they care too much about that, but still, worth the shot

I sent a LOI, I say fight and try everything for what you want
