2023-2024 Drexel

In my interview I thought they said 8-10 weeks for the TOTAL cycle, from submission of secondary to offer. I’m pretty much at the 10 week point though so maybe I’m wrong. But judging by last year’s thread, acceptances started coming out in October. Basically what I’m saying is I don’t know but will be very stressed until they update me lol
i think it’s more likely to be 8-10 weeks after the interview. i submitted my secondary 7/17, so i’m well past 10 weeks from there and only interviewed yesterday. idk when they first started interviewing, but it would be plausible for decisions to come out in october for those who interviewed beginning of september. keep in mind this year’s cycle is a little bit behind last year’s because primaries were transmitted later, pushing everything back. i get the wait sucks, but honestly, it’s probably for the best to pretend like you’ve never even applied until you hear back. thinking and stressing about it now won’t change the outcome

I think you’re right, it’s likely 8-10 weeks from the interview. Crossing my fingers for everyone that we hear back by Christmas!

This probably isn’t helpful at this point but we were told in my interview we would hear back in 6-8 weeks (I think. tbh the whole experience is a blur) I interviewed 9/29 which was like the second interview week and as far as I know no one has heard back yet at all. It seems like lots of schools are running a little behind this year though butttt I am just as anxious to hear back as everyone else trust me

i interviewed 9/22 and havent heard anything. they seemed pretty unsure when we would hear back when i asked them

looks like we're all gonna have to wait lol

This was without a doubt my least favorite interview yet. The faculty member that interviewed me really either did not want to be there or did not want me to be there. Wouldn't listen to my answers, no conversation, they would cut me off, and even said some questionable stuff about my background (microaggressions). And when I asked questions towards the end, they really acted as if my questions were the dumbest thing they'd ever heard. I was curious if this was unique to me but someone had already mentioned my interviewer by name on Reddit. So I guess I just got unlucky. Really turned me off the school as a whole though. As for the student interview, the student interviewer was lovely but that's just not how group interviews should be done. Extremely cringe inducing. Anyway, I'll be withdrawing my application. Best of luck to everyone else.

I had this experience at a different school and withdrew my application on ethical grounds. I have an upcoming interview here, and I wasn’t set on keeping my interview. You sharing your experience makes it sound like cancelling my interview is the right thing to do.

Getting into medical school is not worth sacrificing my values. Drexel has plenty of other applicants to fill their spots.

i’m sorry you had that experience, definitely not okay. would you feel comfortable giving that feedback to the admissions office? i think that faculty member should not be allowed to continue interviewing if that’s how they behave

Im sorry this happened to you 🙁 if you don’t mind me asking, what was the student interview like? I wasn’t aware it was even a group interview

i’m not the original commenter, but i’ll give my 2 cents on the student interview. i was also not aware it would be a group interview until the day of. there were 3 applicants including myself. our student interviewer was very kind, but i honestly wasn’t sure how much their questions/our answers would help the adcom evaluate us. the questions were very broad, and because there were 3 of us in total, i think they only asked 2 or 3 questions. i would say it wasn’t stressful, but i’m not sure that it boosted my app much. maybe that’s my own personal weakness though 🤷‍♀️

I will. I hope they listen to my feedback as I'll also be withdrawing. That way they know that I'm not trying to redo my interview because I did badly or something.
i would hope they (and any other school) would take your feedback at face value, regardless of whether you’re withdrawing, but totally understand where you’re coming from. best of luck at your other schools!

yeah that’s kind of weird vibes. I had the faculty interview already and honestly I felt similarly, it felt more MMI style in the sense that my interviewer wasn’t very interactive with me. so I don’t know how much they got out of my answers.

This was kinda my experience. I felt like an MMI in the sense that I was just thrown a bunch of questions and wasn’t interactive and it felt more like a closed interview.

I’m surprised by some of these comments tbh. My faculty interview was very much a conversation, open file interview. Felt very comfortable and we had a great talk. And my student interviewer was super nice and we all had a good convo too. I think it’s luck of the draw with who interviews you but I apologize to those that had bad experiences interviewing here. Definitely send them feedback if you are comfortable with it!

Was here to say the same thing! Also, I think the group interview was also to see how you interact with other applicants (i.e. are you really introverted and closed off in group settings or can you open up and make friends) as a way to evaluate your interpersonal competencies. Schools are watching all throughout the day, even if it’s a virtual interview experience, so that could be why the group interviews weren’t asking the hard questions

Interviewed 10/4. Any idea when we will hear back. When did people hear back last year?

Last year the first round of decisions was the first Friday after 10/15. Things are going p differently in general (less holds(?), later decisions, no open houses) so I don’t think last years data is a good indicator for this year.

There was word of “8-10 weeks” so that’s all we really have to go off of.

Interviewed last week of September and was told 4-6 weeks for a decision. Not sure if that's going to stay the same given that it seems slower this year.

Can anyone offer any advice on interviews? They didn't provide much info on the format so Im a little confused on what to expect
