2023-2024 Pennsylvania (Perelman)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
FYI last year 21st century notifs came out on March 20 after decisions released March 2
Also not sure if FAFSA will affect it b/c it's purely merit
Always file your financials to Penn.
They dont know if you are not eligible for Aid and if someone is eligible for Aid, they can give them aid instead of a scholarship.

it's actually crazy to me how y'all are worrying about scholarships already before decisions even came out yet lmfao
There is a very short window between admissions and scholarships although they mention more than a month.
If they are allowing you to file forms before the results, you should turn them in ASAP.
This way they know that you are eligible or not eligible for financial aid so they can give serious consideration for a scholarship.

LOL, you should always turn in Fin Aid documents asap, but that aside, there is still the fact that like 70% of people who interviewed will not get an A, making stressing about scholarships, Admitted Students Days, etc., moot. Best of luck to everyone and try to do things you enjoy while you're waiting!!

Are you guys submitting fin aid to Penn without getting your decisions? I added them to my FAFSA but that's it

idkwtfigo with all the different fin aid portals honestly, so all I've done is the FAFSA. Even then I don't think I did it right because it didn't ask about my family

Same for me don't worry

Did you add it to your FAFSA after already submitting? Mine has been in review for like over a month now and I can't find anywhere to add new schools

FAFSA is broken as f**k this year and you won't be able to change s**t until they start releasing information to colleges, which I don't believe they've done just yet. Department of Ed will probably release ISIRs at the end of March. In the meantime, you'll have to sit tight

I just sent it to every school I interviewed at back in January...which means after its processed its gonna get sent to places that already post-II R'd me lol.

YOu can only add more schools after its done processing iirc :/

Penn has their own form on top of FAFSA right?

IIRC its the CSS profile, which I think they say is for need based aid only. Do we know if we need to fill it out to be considered for merit-based aid?
I advise people to fill it out so adcoms know you can only be considered for merit aid. It takes good bit of time and needs parents financial info and tax returns which means there wont be enough time to work on all that after the admissions.

There are smaller tuition scholarships available that can be negotiated but they wont do any of it without all the info.

My CSS is filled, are you suggesting I submit it to them too?

Did anybody else not get a response to thank you notes? Didn't hear back from neither student nor faculty 🙁

I didn't, but I wouldn't read too much into it. If it gives you solace, I got As and full-tuition scholarships from schools that didn't respond back to my notes, but I got the R from a school that did. lol so I'd say that in my experience, there's really no correlation. There are so many other more significant parts of your application.

So sorry if this is posted somewhere, but do they email WL and Rs the same day typically?
Good question, just checked and apparently the portal updates with A/WL/R the same day around 4:30 - 5 PM (probably after calls are done going out)

I was rejected undergrad RD, but I had trash grades/SAT and sent my app like 10 min before the deadline 😂

Hopefully they give me extra points for one of the GOAT comebacks

when do we think the committee met? i sent in my letter of intent last thursday, and i fear it is too late
