2023-2024 Rutgers (New Jersey)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nope, I think they might send them all out at once when they’re done accepting ED people.
That would be messed up, to wait till the end effectively screwing over anyone that didn’t get in?

I really hope not lol

If you suspect you missed a call, will Dr. Heinrich leave a voicemail or will he attempt to call back the next day or so before leaving a voicemail?

I have a 124 CARS too. Why did they send me a II if they do cut offs like this? To hurt me?
LOL. I have a 124 CARS score and just submitted a secondary here yesterday. After reading the thread I prob have no chance anymore..

I also have a 124 CARS score and spoke with Heinrich. He said bc the rest of my ap is super strong I might be okay if I ED there... did RD instead so we shall see how this goes! Wouldn't lose hope!

For the meet the deans session how much talking do you do? Or is it mostly listening?

You’ll do like a 2-3 minute introduction at one point and then they’ll open up to questions with the deans and students.
How many other applicants were in your session and is the structure of the meeting intro-->presentations-->questions? Thanks!

I can’t remember exactly I feel like 6-7. Dean Heinrich spoke a little about the school have an intro for himself and then students started introducing themselves. It’s very low effort just be yourself and have character. There won’t be any trick questions or anything like that.

Were your interviews more causal/conversational or more of a stress test? In other words was it more straightforward questions or more left field curveball questions?

Def more conversational/casual than the average med school interview. But there have been records of some interviews here being hard (on purpose). Better to prep for the worst but odds are it’ll be easy!

I interviewed twice. One was a standard interview with the general straightforwardquestions while the other was full of "left field curve ball" questions so I would prepare for both scenarios

Question for you and others who had 2nd interviews, how long did it take for your A to come in after the second interview? I had a second interview as well.

Is it normal to have two interviews? Have any regular decision applicants been interviewed twice?

Just got an II for this Friday! I'm a little worried about some prior scheduled obligations I have that day. How long have the morning "Welcome Sessions" been in total? 30 min? An hour?

Meeting with the Deans was 45 min with another 45 min going to the Q and A with current students. Good luck!

Edited: realized you asked about the welcome session. This is literally 5 minutes where they check your ID and gave you some basic info.

Got an acceptance last night! Secondary completed 7/17, interviewed 7/27 and acceptance at around 8PM 8/22
Congrats!! How did you feel about your interview? I am complete for the school now and waiting for October 15 🙏🙏

It was honestly just a really nice chat. Pretty casual but don’t let your guard down though it can sometimes get too relaxing. Mine was like an hour long which I think maybe a bit longer than average but I got the sense that he liked talking to me and we spoke a bunch about life beyond med school and he was giving me advice and stuff. Good luck and I hope you get the II!

for those that got the call, how long was it? I wonder how many people Dean Heinrich calls every night

I was a reapplicant so I interviewed last cycle and this cycle, not twice this cycle

I was deferred from ED 8/15 lol (after reaching out to admissions twice to get a response!)

When did you interview? I’m so sorry to hear that but thank you for the data point.

Also did you speak with Heinrich or Rivero before you applied?

I didn't interview-- I reapplied this cycle after I was waitlisted last cycle. I emailed Dean Heinrich but didn't get any response until after I had submitted my ED application, same with Dean Rivero (she never got back to me).
